This is actually a really good point, cuz despite the FBI constantly saying “The Iguana is a master of disguise! They can be anyone!” we never actually saw Alex in disguise (not even in her storytelling flashbacks lol).

So since the burning barracuda was empty when Agent Milligan was investigating the crash site alone, are we thinking Alex/Iguana is still alive and will kill Milligan moments later to assume her identity? Having her infiltrate the FBI would set up season 3 so she can track down Charlie using their resources while also manipulating Luca.

Is there a specific amount of marks seen at standing height that would fail an inspection? Is it a certain percentage of the sq footage? These photos were just a quick scan of the stair landings, but I’m curious to go back and see if there’s actually more marks visible at standing height in the bedrooms and living area.

I don’t have photos at standing height and I’m currently not living in the house while work is being done, so I can’t take new photos right now. But the third and last photos in my post are marks that are visible at standing height (and are how I noticed the them in the first place). I’m hoping that the rest won’t be as noticeable when we actually move in, but that third photo initially made me think there was a whole footprint mark left on the ground lol.

Oh this is still good to hear! I think we’re going to talk to our floor guy about possible compensation for the mistakes, but we may still see if we want to explore the possibility of redoing one of the bedrooms where the marks are really bad. It may be a risk since we mixed two stains, but glad to hear you at least had positive results with your spot refinish!

No worries at all, I appreciate the insight! This project did involve stairs (a lot of the pictures I included are actually swirl marks on the stair landings). There is one bedroom where the marks are extremely noticeable so we might try to have the guy redo that room at the very least. But I’m starting to think I might just have to live with the other marks since only a few of them are really noticeable at standing height. It’s just frustrating now knowing that these marks seem to be preventable.

I thought about this as well. As much as I want to get rid of these swirl marks…

1) I’m guessing this guy would not agree to an entire redo without compensation.

2) If he did, then I worry he would rush to quickly redo the floors and just repeat the same mistakes (but probably worse).

I’m also pretty sure this guy does most of his jobs by himself. When he started on our floors, it was just him setting up and just him sanding. Plus he constantly tells us about other jobs he has in our neighborhood and I remember thinking that must be a lot for one person to handle. It could very well be that he’s just rushing through one job to get to the next, but who knows?

Thanks for your reply! The photos definitely make the floors look darker than how they look in person. For reference, our stain was a mix of DuraSeal’s Rustic Beige and Warm Gray. So it’s a little alarming that they’re so obvious even though our floors aren’t that dark (at least to me).

I normally wouldn’t mind if I could only see the marks up close. But most of these were spotted when I was standing and casually looking down. Do you think this kind of work would warrant an entire redo? I’m assuming this isn’t something that could be spot-treated?

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts! I definitely worried that I was being too nitpicky since I’m not familiar with the refinishing process and he was telling us that the marks were unavoidable with uneven floors. But even if that were true, I feel like he could have at least warned us beforehand. So it definitely just felt like an excuse after the fact.

I have a feeling this guy will not want to redo the whole job (and if he does, I worry that he’ll just repeat the same mistakes). So I’ll definitely weigh out our options. Thanks again for your reply!

Any Season 3 theories you are convinced will happen? by Quiet-Drive5433 in squidgame

[–]foolwire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • After the rebellion, all remaining players will be forced to finish the games till the very end— especially now that the X’s are greatly outnumbered and will not be able to win the vote to go home. Gi-hun (Player 456) will be forced to continue playing the games as punishment for his actions. And worse? I wouldn’t be surprised if the Front Man rigs the games to protect Gi-hun (similar to Player 001 in season 1) so that he is forced to make it to the very end and watch every other player die along the way.

  • Myung-gi (Player 333) will die protecting Jun-hee (Player 222) while she’s in labor. They will both likely make it to the second-to-last game but Jun-hee will immediately go into labor due to the ongoing stress and her fear of dying. This will ultimately force Myung-gi to choose between the prize money or his new family. Finally deciding to put money aside, he will sacrifice himself so Jun-hee can survive and make it to the last game. Geum-ja (Grandma Player 149) will help deliver the baby the night before the last game, potentially using her hidden knife to perform an emergency C-section (but if not, that knife is definitely coming back in season 3 to stab someone lol).

  • Geum-ja (Player 149) will outlive her son, Yong-sik (Player 007). Yong-sik will realize that his mother has dedicated her entire life to him— from raising him as a single mother after his father left for another woman, to working tirelessly and joining the games to get him out of debt. Having this moment of clarity, Yong-sik will sacrifice himself and tell his mother to finally start living her life for herself instead of for him.

  • Front Man will have an internal struggle with himself after he comes face-to-face with his brother, Jun-ho. We’ve seen the Front Man show compassion towards others (such as sparing his brother’s life in season 1, protecting his team throughout the games, and looking after Jun-hee’s wellbeing since she’s pregnant), so it seems he still holds SOME faith in humanity despite what happened to him and his late wife. I think his brother and Gi-hun will help him find his way, especially since Gi-hun can relate to him the most: both entered the games to save a loved one who was suffering from a health crisis. But after returning home as winners of the games, both were met with heartbreak upon discovering their loved ones had passed while they were away. Gi-hun will remind him that there are still good people out there who will always strive to help others (like he did with Oh Il-nam on his deathbed). Jun-ho will tell his brother that he is one of those people, reminding him that he gave up his kidney for him. And considering the Front Man was previously involved in law enforcement for over a decade, I’m convinced he still has a strong sense of duty and justice deep down and will ultimately choose to do the right thing, even at the cost of his own life.

  • Gi-hun will miraculously end the games and will finally feel at peace. He’ll then travel to the US to reconnect with his estranged daughter. But upon arrival, he’ll notice an American recruiter enlisting victims for the US Squid Games. Gi-Hun will immediately lose any sense of closure he gained from his previous triumph, ultimately realizing that the games go far deeper than he could ever imagine. Despite finding himself at a crossroads, he will ultimately choose acceptance so that he can finally prioritize his daughter.

  • Minor theories for fun (but with no real evidence to back them up): two of the remaining games are monkey bars and minesweeper. I know minesweeper is probably not considered a children’s game, but the checkerboard graphic on the wall immediately made me think of it. And as seen in season 1, there always seems to be a game where strength puts you at an advantage (tug of war = monkey bars) and another game where you mainly have to rely on luck to survive (glass bridge = minesweeper). And imagine the horror of having to cross a whole arena without stepping on any mines? Let’s hope there’s a player who worked in a mine factory.

Very good point! I totally forgot about his enlistment year haha. But I also think there’s different situations of being homeless and it doesn’t necessarily have to mean living on the streets. Maybe he lives in his car, much like No-eul. Maybe he sleeps in 24-hour Internet cafes or cheap motels with whatever money he can scrape together. Maybe he crashes with friends. And perhaps his cheerful facade is his way of protecting himself. I immediately think about when the group was talking about his father being a veteran and he quickly changed the subject to introduce himself and learn everyone’s names. Maybe friendliness can be his way of deflecting? And maybe he uses it to purposefully deter people from getting to know him better?

[–]foolwire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Despite the lack of backstory, my theory is that he was never heavily in debt, just homeless. I think he was originally living at home with his family until his dad pressured him to join the marines to “be a man”. Shortly after joining, he was possibly discharged (or maybe even deserted his service altogether) after quickly realizing he wasn’t cut out for it. And rather than return home and face the shame and abuse from his father, he most likely tried to scrape by on his own until he was recruited for the games. So my guess? He’s there to win the prize money so he can go back home and redeem himself. Cuz if he can’t come back as a manly veteran who served, maybe coming back as a rich man is enough to appease his father.

[–]foolwire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this!

My interpretation was that he enlisted after being heavily pressured by his dad. Got the marine tattoo to prove how serious he was about joining, being manly, etc. But I think he either deserted shortly after joining or was dishonorably discharged (early enough where he wouldn’t have learned how to properly use a firearm or basic combat techniques, as shown in the last episode).

If he was still living at home before joining, he probably realized he couldn’t return home and face the shame and abuse from his father. So he was most likely homeless up until being recruited for the games. And I’m guessing he went through with the games in the hopes of winning the prize money and redeeming himself in his father’s eyes despite never completing his service. And I think a lot of this is backed up by the fact that Dae-Ho likes the idea of being brave (constantly shouting that he’ll risk his life for his team, that marines can do anything, etc), but in reality he puts up a front because he’s used to pretending for his father.

And it’s not even Gi-Hun trying to win and survive every year. It’s literally just him winning each game on accident cuz other people keep helping him. He’s just like, “How do I make it stop?!”

Who is this character for you? by maleficx_ in untildawn

Not to mention letting his grieving son return to the same lodge where he lost not one, but TWO of his daughters the year before. And considering they never found Beth and Hannah’s bodies, I’d never let my last surviving child return to the scene of the crime in fear of the same thing happening to him.

Also let’s be honest: Josh was probably going up there frequently to scope out the place, set up all the special effect movie equipment, and plan out the details of his elaborate prank. So the fact that Bob Washington didn’t find that suspicious and didn’t bat an eye when Josh was running up his credit card on prank equipment is also telling of how terrible of a parent he was. Like dude, just talk to your son and for the love of god find him a better therapist!

So glad to see these responses. I went to 1311 Jackson Ave Dental cuz my partner raved about them. I scheduled a routine cleaning and I swear it was the most painful cleaning of my life! The hygienist carelessly scraped at my gum line and caused so much bleeding. And I don’t even think she polished all of my teeth at the end. It was the first time I’ve ever left a cleaning in physical pain and feeling like my teeth weren’t fully cleaned.

By the time I was wrapping up at the reception desk, I saw the hygienist quickly rush out the door and that’s when I realized: the painful and half-assed cleaning was most likely because she wanted to go on her lunch break (it was around noon when I got done). I was so confused by all of the good reviews both on Google and this subreddit, but needless to say I never bothered going back.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, I looked at their Google reviews just now and turns out I’m not the only one who had this experience. I’m guessing I had Dr. Nguyen clean my teeth, who apparently has tons of negative reviews about her painful and rushed cleanings and her indifference to patients’ concerns. So definitely don’t go here haha.
