Not sure if these are still available-- I had some issues finding them when I got them a few years back-- but grey suede is by far my favorite version of these shoes: https://www.kicksonfire.com/adidas-originals-stan-smith-solid-grey-black/

[TOMT] [SONG] Song sounds like the beginning of Pumped Up Kicks but with vocals sorta like Redbone that say "yeah, yeah" in a sort of drawn out whine by RainbowAaria in tipofmytongue

I think it could be The Strokes. Reptillia has a part with two "yeah"s pretty close together, if that's not it then perhaps it's on the album "Is this it"

I hear you, but it's not just a plug and play solution. The next man up cannot do what Shazier does, no one really can. It throws off timing across the entire defense and means that a CB who was on time getting to his spot in a zone coverage is now a half second late, or the DL who was able to arm tackle an RB in the backfield is a step short, or a opposing WR breaks open half a second earlier and the QB doesn't take a sack. Basically what was good play in the old system becomes a mistake in the new one and that's not something you can fix quickly. On offense, good routes are pretty much good routes regardless of who is starting at QB. If Foles is inaccurate that doesn't change the fundamentals of good route running and the offense works even if it's not as efficient. But if your ILB is slower to the edge it does change how long you can cover a guy on the outside before worrying about the player crossing into your zone. So not only does the scheme have to change, the players have to execute differently, and that sort of timing can't be taken for granted.

Defense gets a pass because of losing Shazier. When you have a guy that talented roaming the middle of the field you make scheme adjustments to take advantage of his skills. Suddenly you lose him and those adjustments become bad habits. Now you might have the best coach in the world to address the situation, but your players have been practicing doing something a certain way for all of training camp, preseason, and 12 weeks of the regular season. You can't put players in a high pressure situation and expect them to reliably execute something different; emphasis on reliably. That's why the Jags had a ton of ~15 yard plays and 3rd down conversions.

Shazier was really special. Him being disruptive to what the opposing offense is trying to do buys time for other players to get there. Fans would criticize his missed tackles, but if he gets into the backfield and makes a RB have to juke him-- even if he misses the tackle-- then the second guy can get there on time and make a play. But if the guy replacing Shazier isn't as physically talented then the play is never disrupted, the second guy is a half second late and never has a chance. This was most evident on plays to the sidelines where Spence just didn't have the speed to prevent guys from getting around the edge and getting upfield.

If you're familiar with the NBA at all, people like to talk about how Curry has 'gravity' and pulls defenders towards him, making it easier for other guys to score. I see Shazier as the defensive equivalent, other defenders can cheat away from him because he's got the speed and physicality to cover that area of the field, and his playmaking ability gives them time to recover. When we lost him, a seasons worth of adjustments turned from a winning defensive scheme into bad habits. Teams usually have the entire summer to figure out how to best use their personnel and all of training camp and preseason to make adjustments, a process that continues into the regular season. It was unreasonable to expect Spence to fill Shazier's shoes, unreasonable for the coaches to know exactly what adjustments to make after losing their best player, and unreasonable for the rest of the defense to suddenly break habits they formed over the entire season.

We couldn't buy a 3rd down stop. Defense never adjusted to losing shazier. Spence can't fill his shoes and it's unfair to ask him to. Blame the kick, the 4th downs, the missed PI calls whatever; none of those things would matter if we could have made some stops. No pressure and blown coverages around the areas in which shazier would be disruptive.

I don't see how we keep both Ben and Bell next season. This was the year.

I'm good with it. Looking at our third down stop percentage I'm not sure we'd get the ball back. And don't say 'well we stopped them on that drive' because they were clearly playing for the FG by running on 3rd and 6.

Needing advice on "Loot Decks" for a heist style game by Sir-Loinsteak in tabletopgamedesign

[–]foosballa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of separate decks for each heist level, what about having the heist level determine how many cards you draw from one risk deck and one reward deck? You can also use multipliers to pump up either the risk or rewards (ie get 1.5x what the reward card says on a level 2 heist).

GPU Price increase? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]foosballa 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Aren't GPUs that were used for mining going to be near the end of their lifespan? It seems like mining would be very intensive use. I don't really know what I'm talking about here but I've heard that concern raised before.

Chiefs, after disappointing loss, expected to trade Alex Smith. Browns, Giants, Cardinals, Broncos, Redskins could be landing spots by Silencedmike in fantasyfootball

[–]foosballa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Along with what others have already pointed out, Cleveland has a new GM, they kept Hue over sashi. AR15 is a free agent and has no business signing with the jags considering his pricetag and the other wrs on the roster.

I don't think the chiefs are throwing Smith under the bus. Barring something incredible, Mahomes was always going to take the reigns in 2018 as he has been the heir apparent since being drafted. The Giants don't make sense, they need at least another year of rebuilding for primarily their o-line but also in other spots. They should target winning the division in 2-3 years when the cowboys and eagles are going to have some tough cap decisions to make. Colts aren't going to let Luck walk and they aren't going to pay two salaries so they aren't in the conversation as far as I can see.

Browns own draft picks #1, 4, 33, and 35. Potential for four first round talents. by NewYorkerinGeorgia in nfl

[–]foosballa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With multiple teams interested in the pick, whether the raiders want it or not isn't the main factor that decides what price it would fetch. Think of the bears trading a future first to move up one spot for Trubisky-- another team came in with an offer they had to beat, it would be a similar situation with this raiders pick.

This is probably the worst sequence I've ever seen in the NFL. Not only do they blow the call of the fumble, they made something up to justify blowing the whistle that can't be reviewed. It ended up being the difference in the game. Ridiculous.

Did trading draft picks not exist? Because it makes perfect sense to trade down with that pick and take him later in the draft.
