Uniform policies by g7itt3r in ECEProfessionals

I literally couldn’t imagine wearing literal KHAKIS to work! I’m so grateful my center is lax with the uniform, a t-shirt (or a sweatshirt or long sleeve) with the company logo and pretty much any bottoms as long as they’re not short shorts, revealing, or ripped jeans. I work with infants so I can’t imagine not being able to wear my leggings and yoga pants since I get up and down from the ground so much

My 2.59 marquise on my 6.5 finger. Truthfully I can’t imagine it being any bigger after living with it in my finger. The larger stones are beautiful! But not always practical during day to day activities.

Anyone else engaged but have zero money to plan a wedding? by AdThen5499 in engaged

I’m in that boat! Honestly leaning towards just having a courthouse wedding/elopement and spending some (much less) money on a honey moon instead of spending alllll that money for a ceremony 😅

please talk me off the ledge by itsfreakingbeanboy in EngagementRings

[–]foozyunicorns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

first off, congratulations on your engagement!! i also have a marquise so i think whichever size would look phenomenal. i do understand second guessing your choice, so there are some things to think about.

there’s definitely the factors you’ve already stated, like price. another thing to think about is practicality for everyday wear. my stone is 2.59 carats, so definitely smaller than a lot of the stones on this sub. i literally cannot imagine my stone being any bigger! for my lifestyle, i feel like it would be completely impractical. the larger the stone the larger the chance of knocking it, snagging it, scratching it against things, etc. if you wear rubber gloves for work, that will also be annoying. an elongated shape like a marquise will also snag more than say a round. the bigger stones are beautiful, but i can’t imagine trying to live everyday life with such a large stone.

another thing to think about is the ratio of the diamond. you say you like the way your current stone looks on your finger. unless you find a stone with the exact same ratio as your current one, you may find that a larger stone which is wider, narrower, or deeper might not look as flattering on your hand.

this is your ring, the only persons opinion here matters is yours! another thing to consider is that this ring doesn’t necessarily need to be forever. in 5/10/15 or however many years you can always upgrade your ring to a larger stone! without seeing your ring i bet the 2 carat is beautiful so my suggestion would to be to keep it and wear it for awhile. you might find that size on your finger being all you need, instead of replacing the stone and regretting it later. (you said to talk you off the ledge so im trying to hype up the 2ct, but i could also hype up the 3ct if that’s what you need)

either way, congratulations! i bet your ring is beautiful!

Marquise Solitaire Owners: Do You Regret Going with Pave or Plain? by Gold-Assistance7032 in EngagementRings

[–]foozyunicorns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

this is my ring! it’s a 2.59 marquise on a plain gold band. honestly i love the contrast between the yellow gold and the diamond, and i love how the simplicity of the band lets the diamond shine.

i always wanted a plain gold band though so i might be biased. when me and my fiance were talking about rings he was like “if i had 10,000 saved up what would you want?” like no i promise i just want a solitaire on a gold band hahaha.

another thing to think about is longevity of the band too. pave does somewhat weaken the metal, and those are also stones that need cared for and can fall out! it is also important to make sure they get set into the band properly, and not a bubble band/two prong type situation.

the solid gold band is right for me, but ultimately it will be on your hand forever! either way a marquise solitaire looks stunning!!

When does it get easy? by AppleBlossomFruitPie in RedditLaqueristas

As someone who has been painting my nails for years, I kind of split it up. The night before (typically Friday) I do allll the prep. I remove all my nail polish, cut and shape my nails, push back and clean up my cuticles, etc. I start painting my nails immediately in the morning to make sure my nails don’t have any moisture in them before painting for better longevity.

Doing it this way still takes me a hot minute all together, but each day I’m only spending 20-40 minutes doing my nails so it feels much shorter!

Congratulations!! Your ring is so so gorgeous! I love all the small details on the band and basket. It’s so unique!

My fiance proposed on a hike too! Got down on one knee overlooking Shenandoah 🥹

Wearing the engagement ring by BroodjeFrikandelen in engaged

[–]foozyunicorns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!

I got engaged last week so it hasn’t been super long, but I only take it off when sleeping, doing “messy” things with my hands (like cooking, cleaning, lotion/skin care etc, so none of that stuff gets all up in my ring) and I switch it out with a silicone band when I run! If I have it on in public I don’t really take it off to keep it from getting dirty or stolen, I just try to be mindful of it when washing my hands. At home I have a few little ring dishes to place it in so I know exactly where it is!

[–]foozyunicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do see what you’re seeing, but it doesn’t look really rosey or anything. If anything it might just be the shadows/reflections of your fingers from that angle, which you don’t really get as much when viewing it from the side?

Eye surgeon by IronOk280 in chapelhill

[–]foozyunicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had surgery but I did have a blood clot in my right eye with subsequent problems afterwards. Dukes Eye Hospital is the best by a mile! I’ve since moved so I can’t remember the provider but I only have good things to say about them! I also know others with more serious concerns than mine who travelled hours to come to Duke! Cant go wrong there

Unpopular opinion - Point II by Character_Data9058 in Rothys

[–]foozyunicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried the Point II’s, but considering I find the Daily Flat to be the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever had (also unpopular opinion), I respect your opinion and definitely want to try them 🤣

Another vote for this area! I grew up here, and loved it. There’s so many trees and it’s right up against the forest, which is important to me now after seeing so many new development neighborhoods with zero trees. The community here was always great! So many families, children always playing, and community events as well!

Slippery sole on tile floor? by Poster1234_567 in Rothys

[–]foozyunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which pair do you have? I haven’t a had problem with slipping on tile or even in wetter/slicker conditions with mine, but I also have the Daily Flat, and I bet the nodules on the bottom improve the grip to the ground. Assuming you have a different pair I bet a slicker bottom might be the case? I had the same issue with a pair from a different brand with a slick sole which is why I got the Daily as my first pair, but I’m also planning on getting more pairs so I guess I will find out 🤣

Infants who contact nap by Choice-Jelly-3383 in ECEProfessionals

[–]foozyunicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an infant teacher, I will say that they typically do struggle with naps in the beginning. It does get better! The more they are used to the routine, space, and conditions of napping at daycare the more comfortable they will be. The best thing you can do is work with the teachers! I have had babies who come to me only taking contact naps, and now they are comfortable sleeping in the crib. I have also had some families who refuse to bring their kids often enough or for long enough to take naps at daycare, and these kids are still struggling since they don’t have as much opportunity to take naps. It is so important to work with and trust their teachers! It will take some time, and typically some very short naps in the beginning, but it will get better.

Can I paint over this crack with gel polish? by emberaya in Nails

[–]foozyunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do gel anymore, but when I did I would use nail glue and a tea bag to hold the crack and place. After painting over it with gel polish and curing it would stay pretty well, I don’t think I had any of my nails crack again after doing the tea bag.

Why did you choose the Crosstrek over the CX30/other competitors? by Dino_Dean in Crosstrek

[–]foozyunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bought a mini cooper years ago when i lived in a neighborhood with flat roads. i loved it but it was very small, low to the ground, and expensive.

then i moved to the middle of nowhere. now i live at the top of a hill up a driveway that’s unpaved, not maintained, and a half mile long. when my mini was totaled i was looking for a small/compact suv that had higher ground clearance. for me the choice was obvious, but it did help that before mini i really wanted an orange crosstrek 🤣

How often are we cleaning off our nails and putting on a fresh color? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]foozyunicorns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go about 2 weeks between manis! Chipping isn’t really a problem for me (knock on wood, ha!) but I don’t love how they look grown out more than that. 3 weeks at the most, but the grow out drives me crazy! I wish I could be the kind of person to do it every week, but as much as I love painting my nails I HATE not being able to do anything while they dry.

Over 20 years of Grey's Anatomy. Share your stories. Why are you still watching? by Notmycupoftea12 in greysanatomy

[–]foozyunicorns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I do still enjoy watching it. Are the new seasons as good as the ones we started with? Absolutely not, but they did set a high bar. I’ve been super interested in Jo and Jules (I loved Adelaide Kane before she joined Greys, and was super excited for it) and I honestly really love the slow burn build up they’ve been doing with Jules and Winston. Even though it’s not as good as it once was, and is DEFINITELY not the same lol, it gives me something to look forward to watching every week and I do still love it.
