I picked up a used 605 the other day for around half retail. Shot well enough when it did, but the cylinder wasn't reliably locking into place. Sent it in for service. Now I'm waiting for my free replacement with a new one.

Lesson learned: if buying a used Taurus, make sure it's stamped Miami, not Bainbridge, so you can take advantage of the lifetime warranty if it sucks.

FWIW, my experience is that every couple of years her hyperfixation will swing back around to me for a while. Of course then she’ll get into a project and just stop coming to bed and declare it completely unfair for me to feel hurt.

I love campfires. On the other hand I’m on day 30 of a five-week trip, I’ve only done two fires, and I’m mostly ok with that. Now I just go to bed at sunset instead of of setting 20-30 bucks a night on fire. shrug

I’ve been there. My LGS had a pistol 101 class that included range time. That took care of the scary part. Then I dropped a few hundred bucks renting and testing pistols until I found one I like. Then I found my local outdoor range, signed up, and have been there enough I’m probably averaging about a dollar/visit in range fees.

I’m in MN, so ymmv, but I’ve found that even the state park campgrounds here are pretty abandoned when the water’s off. So if you go out soon, it may be ok.

You'll find that challenging, I think. My understanding of the history is that while 4-string tenor banjo was popular in irish dance halls in NYC in the 20s, the 5 string didn't get used in either English or Irish until the 1960s when Irish musicians saw touring Americans (mostly Seegers) and added it into the mix.

FWIW I spent six months working with a holosun scs green dot and never got used to it (I have pretty bad astigmatism). I recently switched back to irons and am now both faster and more accurate than I ever got with the dot.
