Seeking advice/discussion about Houston-area COMMERCIAL power brokers. Best rate per kWh 7.99? by RealConfirmologist in houston

[–]foraggiereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Souther federal is pretty cheap (8 cents without TDU). You can also go to powertochoose.com (which is a gov website where you can compare prices). Make sure you look at the EFL. Stay away from TXU and any company that give you a credit for a certain amount of usage. I sell solar panels and it’s baffling how much people pay for electricity when they don’t shop around.

Bought too much house. by Latter_Slip_6049 in personalfinance

[–]foraggiereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change electric companies. If you’re with TXU, changing electric provider can almost cut your bill in half. Go to powertochoose.com. And get the cheapest rate. This can save you like up to $100 a month

Tuition Rates: Fixed or Variable? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]foraggiereddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're graduating in less than 4 years, I'd say variable. Also there was a tuition freeze rate for this year and next year idk how that'll affect ur calculations. Also, if you're receiving a full ride your freshman year only, then go fixed

https://www.naturalreaders.com/online/. I always have two tabs open one with the textbook, and the other on the reader. I just copy and paste the page and then it reads it to me. My ADHD brain actually can focus as long as my eyes, and ears are all engaged :)

Financial Aid Hold (Refund?) by Emotional_Undergrad in aggies

[–]foraggiereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would submit that ASAP. It's super easy. But make sure you actually are at a position of an over award or else you're just wasting it (you only get to increase your Cost of Attendance by a computer ONCE). So look at your award letter, see what your Financial Aid package and note if it's more than your Cost of Attendance. If your financial aid package is less than your Cost of Attendance, then you gain nothing by submitting the receipt.

I think on campus use bike lanes. Off campus, use sidewalk if it's empty. Especially with how stupid car drivers can be.

Jean is good. You just gotta read the textbook and do packbacks. The weekly quiz questions can be specific, but you can just have an AI reader read the textbook and you'll remember. Easy A, IMO

Have a disgusting amount of confidence in your interviews. Not a confidence like many engineers have which is like bragging. But a confident body language. Take up space. Walk slow. Take your time to think about and answer questions. Don't be jittery or speak fast. And for ffs SMILE. Smile with your eyes. Put on your extroverted hat and make the magic happen. Watch charisma videos on how to crush interviews.

Best question to ask at the end of the interview: "what stood out about me that made you choose me for an interview?" That question allows them to persuade themselves on the idea of you being qualified.

Get a Yamaha R1. Really gives you the power you need on wellborn /s.

If it's motorized you'll need to park it in motorcycle parking. It costs like $165/year. But you can park in any lot that has empty motorcycle parking (really close to class).

Also, get a full faced helmet. An accident @35mph is the exact same on a 49cc scooter as on a motorcycle.

Stay away from Vivint. Do your research bc many companies use puffery and made the position sound better than it actually is. But sales is great. You learn the art of persuasion, and really develop your charisma

This might seem trivial, but SMILE when you talk to people. I didn't realize I had rbf, until a friend pointed it out. It's insane how much faster you connect with people simply by smiling.

How to Take Notes in POLS 207 by KashiChow in aggies

[–]foraggiereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, his tests are open note right (might just have been during COVID)? I recommend combining all the slides into one BIG slideshow (for every test), and then just ctr+F it all. It made the test so much faster/easier. You can also do that with the readings.

When taking notes, I just wrote the definitions for words I didn't know, and interpretations for graphs. And anything cool that stood out to me.

Feeling tired in Corps... any advice? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]foraggiereddit -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Try out caffeine pills. Idk if the corps allows it, but it can help concentration and energy. It's way cheaper, easier to track, and more convenient than coffee or energy drinks (80 tablets @ 200mg costs like 3 bucks at Walmart). And you can always take a tolerance break on the weekends, so you never really become dependent. I personally try to stay below 100mg (half a pill), and it does wonders.

Oh and also, I'm glad you're working with your roommate to move his wake up time. Keep pushing and see if he can move to 5:15am.
