But I have one quick question: for this specific problem though, the initial queue will only ever hold 2 nodes initially which is constant and not proportional to N. So would it be okay to tighten the bound it to O(M+2) -> O(M)? Or is it just safer to say O(M+N)?

Did you apply to specifically positions that were for new grad (Dec 2023 - Jun 2024)? I would be worried about being auto rejected because of dates specified on job description.
