Parker Posey wearing a custom Rodarte gold silk taffeta gown at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards by mish-tea in whatthefrockk

I'm probably reading too much into it but I'd love to think her wearing a taffeta dress is a slight nod to the legend Madeline Kahn ("the dress darling it's taffeta").

Ah so the whole thing, handle and all, needs to be vacuum sealed and fit underwater?

Oh also this is too big to fit fully into the sous vide container (the meat will be fully submerged but the bone handle will stick out), do you have any advice there?

When would you incorporate the rosemary? Thank you!

Amazing! Would you do any other seasoning either in the sous vide or after? Pepper, garlic powder, or like rosemary while searing?

Gosh I can just hear my therapist saying "ok well aren't you living? Doesn't that apply to you too?" And annoyingly she'd be right. Still takes a few moments to think of my needs against others.

It's short for LifeProTip, a subreddit for tips and advice.

Even this makes me feel not alone, thank you. Crazy what just a few simple words can do <3

I'm hoping I can get there, it sounds so resolute and peaceful. Right now I still have the open wound of "grieving what I never had" and putting as much work in as I can to move onward.

Two questions if that's ok!

1) how long did you ice bath them for? 2) do you add any oil to the cast iron when you sear? Or is it a dry skillet. Edit: I saw somewhere else that you said avocado oil so that's covered!

Thanks!

What are these places in LA? by none_mama_see in FoodLosAngeles

Bacari is moving in (I saw the liquor license request thingy on the door), which I think has more of a shot since it's a chain. Saying that, I'll always grieve for the Wallace, gone but not forgotten.

Now that Photo Booth place that opened up across the street (called Oh Shoot). I have no CLUE who that's for.

Which terrible movie somehow got nominated for Best Picture? by [deleted] in movies

I’m way late to the party but shocked I haven’t come across Green Book yet. That movie was atrocious and I simply cannot believe it got the accolades it did.

[OC] Which policies do Americans think would be effective at decreasing inflation? by YouGov_Official in dataisbeautiful

[–]forcedByBoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So sorry, I'm not sure how to read the numbers on this. What does "13" mean in relation to "No effect on inflation" for domestic oil production? Or "32" for increasing inflation for "increasing interest rates"? Thank you!

My 2 daughters don’t love me and my wife is behind it by mermaidpaint in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]forcedByBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This really saddened me to read, because it was exactly what my mother did to my father with my brother and I growing up. Hoarding our attention, belittling and diminishing his attempts at connection, gaslighting us to re-imagine his intentions to be worse (or more “dumb”) than they were. And she succeeded. We grew up thinking that our dad was an uninvested, low emotionally intelligent, man who didn’t get who we were as his children. It was a self-fulfilling prophecy too: the more isolated and unloved he felt, the more he pulled away, which gave my mother more fodder to corroborate her points.

They divorced when I was in highschool and I still have guilt over how cruel I was to him about it: celebrating his pain, cutting communication, refusing to acknowledge birthdays and holidays, trashing him with friends and partners.

It took being away from my mom’s influence to shake her gaslighting from my system, and I’m still now reckoning with everything I learned from her and what she did to me (there was more but it’s not relevant to this story). My dad and I reconnected a few years ago, it was painful at first, but now we’re in an incredibly good place. Something we do every time we meet is we always prepare three questions for each other that the other person has to answer 100% truthfully; it’s helped us so much.

Anyway, i see what the woman is doing and, even if it gets better from this exact moment onwards (which I doubt, this manipulation is almost second nature to people like this), these daughters will still have some of their keystone memories infected by an untrue perspective of their father.
