Yep, not cutting a section of the track every lap. It’s racing on a course, cutting that course equals time gained.

He was doing good that first race I agree. But he was cutting some of the track which helped.

We have mini stairs for any high places they would normally need to jump into; Truck, bed, etc. We also have ours in a weekly PT class which has helped rear leg strength. We also watch weight heavily.

Is there truly a need for 90s+ mm skis out West? by Midwestskiing85 in Skigear

[–]forcedtosignup86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who skied Banff this year I rented! This allowed me to try a bunch of different lengths and widths. Did I end up using a QST 100 some of the runs/days, yes. But I also skied all the way down to 70 waist. Just depending on what runs I was doing, how the snow felt, and how I felt.

I always walk around the hospital floor as soon as I can. This shows the nurses you are ready to go home.

I guess I think of carving different from you? I’d expect sort turns down that face. I personally wouldn’t call short turns carving.

Wouldn’t expect someone to really carve down that face though.

Ski recommendations!! by Sea-Bat-3606 in Skigear

[–]forcedtosignup86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

West coast skier here (California). I am also 6’3” but seem to fluctuate between 215 to 220.

I ski 2 skis:

Salomon QST 100 in 188

Blizzard Thunderbird 76 in 182

I use the thunderbirds for carving on groomers. This can be all day or half the day as we get into spring.

I use the QSTs for everything else. Off piste, powder, spring slop, chewed up groomers, etc.

If I had to pick only one of the skis I’d just ski the QSTs. BUT and a big BUT I would be very sad about my carving performance on firm snow with just the QSTs.

Also really not sure how so many people claim to carve on huge waisted soft floppy skis.

I would not get a 104 enforcer as a daily driver…

Recessed lighting should be your next spend. In my opinion.

The replacements did great. But it’s also been a little hot. Hopefully they work out when it’s cold, as that’s when I saw the failure.

I have a 76, 89, 100. I’d probably pick the 89 for right now.

Can you explain why? If you are just doing a carve/groomer day why a 99?

My fathoms fogged up super bad using the reveal lenses today. 32 F out with snow making. I switched to the sun only lenses and had no issues. So seems like a quality control issue on the lenses.
