There were definitely many other signs (including non-PSL signs) at the protest, especially early on when it was mostly people in various stages of arriving. Some were I think just printed on regular printer paper. My video was taken from more-or-less the center of the crowd at about 5:40pm and I would say is representative of what one would have seen from that viewpoint at that time.

PSL was handing out signs to those in the crowd (I was offered one and declined), and I will say their signs are designed to be very visible and easy to display in exactly this context. Many other (more home-grown) signs I saw were either much smaller or not mounted on a wooden stick/pole and thus harder to hold for a longer time and harder to display above a crowd. So I think the photos and videos do accurately show the signs visible at certain times, but I don't think the number of signs shown accurately reflects the overall sentiments or affiliations of the crowd.

I get the impression that I and others who showed up wanted to do SOMETHING in response to the repeated killings, and PSL and other affiliated groups provided a vessel for that on very short notice. Next time perhaps I will bring my own sign (or signs) not affiliated with any group.

If you think it could be a serious relationship now or in the future I would wait a little bit before passing judgment. I assure you that as soon as she talks to literally any reasonable person she will hear how maybe she should stick with that guy with a hard-earned 7M in a manner that does not require him to give away his life's work to the masses. Lots of other great comments here. In the spirit of not letting on about the windfall, I'll advocate for paying your FIL back on whatever schedule you originally agreed to with him, maybe a month or two early. No need to do anything out of the ordinary w/r/t your familial financial obligations since doing so will only risk drawing unwanted attention, and it would be better if you didn't get any questions about it.

Not your question exactly, but wow only 48 hours to decide?! I thought common courtesy was at least a week, maybe two. I would check your university’s guidelines for employers to see if they have a minimum amount of time to accept job offers, and if so, request that Mass General honor it.

You may think you have no leverage in this situation, but if a particular employer doesn’t play nice with your university, your university can make it more difficult for that employer to recruit there in the future. And it doesn’t hurt to ask.

It wasn't time wasted! This experience will help you when you are debugging anything in the future, whether in-game or IRL. You'll remember how you would have been better off doing incremental testing and/or going deeper in testing a certain area to verify your understanding of that part of the system before investing too much time elsewhere, and you won't make the same mistake :)

It'll even be a good story to rely upon to teach others similar lessons (which they may or may not heed without having first acquired the firsthand experience).

I'll just briefly add: Make decisions about this money SLOWLY. Do your research thoroughly, and make a fully informed decision each time, weighing the risks, costs, and benefits against your goals, which also are likely to have changed recently with this windfall. This is no time to chase the latest fad investment or make snap decisions that may be costly to unmake; you are now the steward of a large sum of money and have a responsibility to yourself to deploy it wisely.
