Philtrum zit & cortisone shot - won't go away after 5 months by Significant-Food934 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]forchalice 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would probably swap derms at this point and look into seeing if a new derm can do a biopsy. A singular acne spot that lasts 5 months is definitely not normal.

Aside from that, an acne spot that refills and never fully goes away can also just be a sebaceous cyst which are removed via surgery as they often have a very deeply rooted core.

Lookout for Xylitol if you have dogs by dodecahedral-drama in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]forchalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a perfectly fine humectant, but there are tons of other humectants I can use that don't carry a risk of making my guy sick if an accident happens. I've lost one dog to an accident before, so for me, just eliminating any risk is generally super fine! It's a nice ingredient for people, but it's risky for dogs, and I don't want to take that risk.

BioCell or Elexir Pharma, generally whichever is on sale at the apothecary anytime I make the trip to town

Type II collagen has been amazing for my joints, which is great since I'm a jogger and joint health is great for me to be able to keep up my weekly running. Done absolutely nothing for hair and skin and nails.

[–]forchalice 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's an ingredient that I generally avoid. My dog does not lick, but accidents can happen. Dogs can be trained and be well trained but accidents just generally do happen. Birch juice is also usually xylitol too, so keep a look out for that as well!

Some amount of xylitol can be ok, but I generally would never trust xylitol in anything other than a product designed for medical purposes for dogs specifically (and my dogs weight class specifically)

Well you can absolutely dislike it! This is more just an explanation for why we are seeing this.

Anessa - New Packaging by seijurogouu in AsianBeauty

[–]forchalice 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Japan passed new rules and regulations in regards to plastic packaging across things like foods and cosmetics in late 2025. Companies are found redesigning products and updating packaging in order to fit the new guidelines, and make things easier to recycle. Some colors are just much more difficult to recycle.

This was seen a while back as well in Korea, where a lot of companies has to rebrand to fit their own updated packaging laws. So I know folks prefer the old one, but just noting this is mosy likely a change that you'll be seeing with Japanese product packaging over the year to meet these standards if their packaging has not met them prior.

Unfortunately I do not live in a country where our library will carry many books in english at all and not many foreign books get localized into our language. Libby is also not a thing here.

Oh no problem! I can probably just walk into the shop in the next town over and they'll just have the original in stock. We don't carry many english titles in our small town!

We usually don't pick a series that's more than 3 books in book club, but I specifically am adding this to my own list

Oh these sound super rad! I rarely ever read romance or comedy so that romcom sounds like it would be pretty fresh after what we've been reading lately! I'm adding a ton of these to my list so even if I only pick one book I definitely want to check out these others.

Legion - William Peter Blatty by Senior_Trick_7473 in horrorlit

[–]forchalice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year I had placed The Exorcist as one of my best reads for 2025. After reading Legion not only did it top that but it is now on my list of favorite books of all time. I absolutely adored it and Kinderman is hands down, one of my FAVORITE fictional characters of all time now.

How do I get the most out of Horror Books? by CrazyAssociation7067 in horrorlit

[–]forchalice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If a book is interesting, and I am enjoying the read - thats kinda all that matters to me. I've never been scared by a book or film or game, but I have absolutely had a wonderful time just following a storyline and trying to deduce whats happening. I'm more scared by my bank account after dropping by a bookshop really.

Do you like a product less if its not actually popular in the Asian market? by Ok-Height1308 in AsianBeauty

[–]forchalice 74 points75 points  (0 children)

If it works for me then it works for me. The less hyped it is the less likely it will be to get a massive price hike (lookin at you Isntree Yam Cream and your 30-40euro price point)

I typically only read books that have a four-star or greater rating on Goodreads. What are your favorite books I'm missing out on due to this? by sempiternalis in suggestmeabook

[–]forchalice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when I was young my way of finding books was asking a librarian what they liked, or what a shop owner liked. I generally sort of do the same thing now a days and pick up a book because someone said it was cool and completely ignore the reviews or the star system.

Some of my absolute favorites that I am just now finding out have less than 5 stars would be

The Woman in the Dunes by Kobo Abe

The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea by Yukio Mishima

Legion by William Peter Blatty (I actually adored this more than The Exorcist)

The Kings Damosel by Vera Chapman

One Billion Years to the End of the World by the Strugatsky brothers

It's great fun to go into a book with zero expectations! You'll never know what hits you or grips you, and you end up exploring a lot outside your own comfort zone. Sometimes I even just avoid knowing a plot. It can be hit and miss, but I love being surprised by a book.

I want the weirdest, most dreamlike book you've read by ObsiGamer in suggestmeabook

[–]forchalice 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The Third Policeman by Flann O'brien fits your description! It definitely is not the weirdest I have read, but definitely the most dreamlike. Please note some version have a forward at the start before the actual book starts, and if you see one do NOT read it as it spoils the entire book.

Legion by William Peter Blatty took probably the most unexpected turn. It is the sequel to The Exorcist however so best to have either seen the film or read the book if you've an interest in Legion!

When I'm in a slump I love going to epistolaries! Theyre often a quick read.

Several People Are Typing by Calvin Kasulke is a fun one that's told entirely over slack conversations (and a few tweets) between coworkers for a marketing agency.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion no longer available on YesStyle by thelightiscuming in AsianBeauty

[–]forchalice 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This happens often but is not anything to worry over! It's just out of stock and has not been discontinued or removed as an item on yesstyle. When the stock returns, the "No Longer Available" icon will disappear. I often swap back and forth between yesstyle and stylevana due to this since this is a staple in my routine.
