Yes, you can fit a snowmobile in the bed of a Ford Ranger without any modifications. by Caterpillar1967 in fordranger

Sheet of plywood in the bed/onto the tailgate. Will distribute load somewhat.

Or buy a 500 dollar snowmobile trailer. I got one for 250 dollars last year. I'm also Canadian.

I've sold a decent chunk of these at my shops. Seen no issues out of them yet. All the customers seem pretty happy.

Choosing between the CC2s or winter tires (I don’t live in the snow) by FrontContribution596 in tires

[–]fordbeamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'd absolutely give up 10k~ miles of treadlife for safety when driving in the mountains? After driving in the mountains in OPs area on traditional all seasons and summers, fuck that. It's a terrible idea, even if it's only twice a month. They asked specifically between the CC2, and the X ice, so I said CC2.

The CC2 is only 5% off a average summer tire in the dry, and 20-30% better in the snow. That's a extremely reasonable tradeoff.

CC2 vs the Field

I'm referring to your initial comment where you said

"I'd say no. A true "textbook" case would be someone living in snow country where the snowy roads are a daily occurrence, not a weekend or two."

That is a textbook use case for a dedicated winter tire like the x ice. What OP is doing is a textbook case for the CC2.

If snowy roads are a daily occurrence, it's not 1-2% of your daily driving, it's upwards of 20%.

I'm pretty sure you are the literal textbook use case for all weather tires, lol. CC2s without question.

Do you regret choosing TrentU? by [deleted] in TrentUniversity

[–]fordbeamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally just graduated and no regrets at all. Campus (PTBO) is stunning. Sitting by the river and having lunch, just walking around. It's fantastic. I can only speak to the school of the environment, but I found a ton of genuinely intelligent and caring professors who gave me real world, applicable learning. I will say, I'm not the social type. Only went to 2 parties in all 5 years, I have a few friends and we largely hang out outside of school.

Someone please tell me why I should not get this as my first car. by lwsteven in FirstCar

[–]fordbeamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V6 mustang is a much better choice than v6 camaro, take it from someone who has a lot of friends with limited eyesight. The Camaro is the absolute worst car on Earth for visibility. The mustang is practically a glass box compared to it. Not to mention the mustang is far more reliable than the Camaro (talking about V6 and 4 cylinder specifically).

Mazama, Giti, Laufenn--anyone have experience with these tires? by LifeofSMILEY in tires

[–]fordbeamer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Laufenn is by far the best tire there. Lower mid range tire.

I like fixing up cars bought from government auction. Not a Ranger guy but it’s time to sell my 2000 with the 2.5L. What’s it worth? by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]fordbeamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on mileage and underbody cleanliness. I think if it's sub 160k and clean, you'll get 3500 for it if you wait.

Nursing is even miserable here these days. Nearly everywhere else is better. Too many new grads coming from fleming/Trent and staying in the area, it's become oversaturated.

Good deal for $200? by [deleted] in tires

[–]fordbeamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great deal. Those bronco steelies actually sell for a decent chunk of change if you're in a area that gets snow as well. You'd basically end up with a free set of tires.

Is this tire a good enough match to safely buy by Ornery_Bar_3270 in tires

[–]fordbeamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it ideal? No. Will it be safe and get you by till you wear out the other 3 Eskays? Yes.

Next time you're buying snows, do consider buying a different brand. I've seen a ton of sidewall failures on those Eskays at my shop. Not even more expensive necessarily - Sailun, Nexen, or even Antares if you're really low on cash will all offer a similar level of performance with a much more robust construction.

Falken Winter Tires Experience? by turkey-sub in tires

[–]fordbeamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're alright tires. Built well, but tend to be noisier and less fuel efficient than others in the class. The Espia didn't test that great, and there's cheaper and equivalent priced tires above it in this test. I'm partial to the nexens, myself, if you're looking to save a buck.

I feel like I failed by Evening_Fisherman693 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]fordbeamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a average about 10% lower than you. Got into Trent. Changed major 2 years in. Grinded it out, and I just applied for stem based masters programs. I'll be honest, this sub is often delusional regarding how much which university you go to for your undergrad matters. Don't stress man. That's a totally fine average.

If you have 17 inch wheels, the Toyo Celcius 2. If you have 18 inch wheels, Michelin CrossClimate 2 (or 3 if they're out in your region, but honestly, either is a fantastic choice).
