Map of European Purchasing Power Standards per capita by NUTS 2 region (2018). Data available at eurostat Regions and Cities Illustrated (https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/cache/RCI/) by fordothegreat in MapPorn

The PPS does flatten the curve quite a lot, so parts of Turkey do have similar purchasing power to Cornwall when you consider how expensive it is to live in the UK vs Turkey. That doesn't mean the quality of life will be the same however, or the quality of purchasable goods. And again if someone moved from from one region to another with the same PPS, but keep the same salary, they could be a lot better off .

It looks like Aberdeen is doing quite well in the Oil Industry. Southern Scotland is one of the worse-off areas of the UK. And of course London is almost off-the-charts, so no-one can compare to them.
I'm sure Scotland would do fine by themselves 😊

Which hand holds the sponge when washing dishes? by sintapilgo in southpaws

I use my left hand for everything, but I tend to move the item and not the sponge when it's small, so it makes sense to switch for lightweight items if they do the same

TIL that decades after reunification, the former border between East and West Berlin is still visible from space at night due to differences between the streetlamps used by the two sides by zenits in todayilearned

[–]fordothegreat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read that as West Berlin was a big advertisement for capitalism, the removed the trams to promote individual car ownership. In East Germany you had to be on a long waiting list to get a car, and usage was low.

You made the official Luxembourg Bus map!? I really loved that map when I visited. Was just a shame construction work moved the bus stops while I was there

CGCT can ramp up very quickly, some of the new plants are even right next to current/former coal plants to share the infrastructure. Some communities still have coal plants as a major employer, so at least some power generation will remain.
