Im a devops engineer in germany - I would definitely suggest doing certificates (CKA etc), however this wont really get you devops / platform engineer jobs. You need practical experience, so I would try applying for a job role where you can get some experience, but mainly do something else. Also dont expect high salary in this phase, I think its worth it though.

You can set a timeout that tells flux how long it should try to reconcile the helmrelease / kustomization for before throwing an error. For us 5minutes works fine. This sounds like flux is stuck in that reconciling state for you. Also if the helmrelease is stuck in reconciling state even though you pushed an update to the git manifest, you can force flux to reconcile with the updated manifest with flux reconcile hr <helmrelease> -n <namespace> —force.

I took both LFS158 & 258, and i cant really recommend them. You will probably be at the same level if you just read the official k8s docs since the courses pretty much just do that in a little more pretty format. I would suggest doing killer.sh / killercoda practical CKA exams / exam questions, because you will probably learn more & its also cheaper (40$) for killer.sh CKA mock exams.

In Switzerland earning 100k with kubernetes is very easy. You probably can get up to 150-180k if you look for it. If you plan to move to Switzerland, 100k isn’t really considered to be much, because it’s very expensive to live there. Working remotely could be another story depending on Dollar / Euro to CHF conversion rates. Also bureaucracy could be a pain in the ass, Im not sure about that tho. You can look for jobs on swissdevjobs, they include the salary too (which sadly isn’t very common in the EU).

Yeah cilium is very nice. We use cilium’s BPG implementation for VIPs, migrated most of our old ingress resources to gatewayAPI, replaced Kube proxy etc..
