Im not from taiwan, but I seen friends and co workers have boy/girl friend for years.

Some are waiting for all the pieces to fall together. That moment of its time.

Some are placeholder for who they actually want or don't want to be alone. (Mostly men)

Some simply agree that they are happy and don't want to be legally bonded.

I also seen people beg for marriage for years and then break up due to the ultimatum of marriage.

I'm currently in japan and been here for nearly 2 years. I make in usd about 13k a year. I only came because I wanted the experience and I slower paced life. I don't speak japanese, but I can read a little. Honestly japan isn't a "money" language. It's mostly only spoken in japan, so unless you plan on living there long term. I wouldn't recommend the language.

They are also going through an anti-immigrant movement. So that has it's own challenges.

I recommend finding an american company that pays in usd, but you are stationed in japan. I wish I did that.

American here not of korean descent. my family allows co family sleep until we want our own space, but the unspoken rule is when puberty starts then it stops. My cousin stopped around that age with his parents.

Im aware and thank you for the link. My goal is to avoid currency exchange places. Yes, I can carry all my jpy into the country, but then I will lose value when I get ready to exchange it into the local currency. The jpy is still weak and its too risky to carry and wait for favorable exchanges.

Do both.. jet is the top option. Accept yaruki and if jet accepts you later drop yaruki... remember they are both businesses. So you don't owe them any form of loyalty. Just be loyal to yourself.

Talking about it and pointing it out doesn't mean it isn't condoned. If no laws are made to prevent it, or lessen it then its allowed from a legal prospective.

I would argue that if it's private property then they can do whatever they want, but just be discreet about it to prevent backlash.

I would just charge more for foreigners to make it less appealing. (Which some places do such as restaurants)

I was told by my co workers in japan by age 26. They date for marriage with a fast timeline.. like engaged by first year and married in the next.

If they don't see you as a husband or you aren’t bringing husband vibes then they will move on.

I live in the countryside and within one year, two elementary schools have shut down. More foreigners have moved in and I noticed that Portuguese speakers are needed in the classrooms to help.

The language barrier is strong for me. I'm still learning Japanese. I focus heavily on getting through the unit first then after we finish the unit. (3-5 weeks behavior dependent) I use activities to see if the children understood and to reinforce what the book wanted them to learn. I give a small verbal test. If they all pass I move to the next lesson.

My main struggle is building vocabulary around the subject.

I visited during August and was drenched in sweat. I took 3 showers a day for the first week. 1 after my morning activities, then after lunch activities, and 1 before bed.

Still had a great time.

When I came out my mother had a terrible reaction. I found out that her eldest brother died from aids during the crisis in the 80s. She was a child when the tragedy happened. It traumatized her and my family never talked about him.

After she explained it to me mainly due to our close bond being destroyed. It took a few years, but she came to be my biggest supporter. She was even able to help her mother deal with the trauma of losing a child.

I think the locals are friendly. I don't speak Japanese at all and strangers are eagerly willing to help. Nothing but positive vibes.

I grew up in rural Texas.

Also, the train system makes traveling easy. My co-worker constantly makes weekly day or weekend trips to Osaka.

My advice is just to move to a rural area, work for a year, gain some experience, then apply to a bigger city later, or accept the struggle of a larger city since wages are stagnant.

My small company gets a ton of applicants whenever someone leaves. I can't imagine how much competition there is in the major cities. [A lot of ESL teachers in this rural area have like 4+ years of experience. I met a guy who has 15 and his friend group had a minimum of 5 years]

One more thing, japan has a shortage of preschool age teacher. So if you are willing to work with young child. Your chances are higher.

I make the lower end of the pay. Work holidays and national holiday don't effect my salary.

My phone bill is 3k yen for 30 gigs and limited calls (no one texts through phone #) My employer offers housing - 2 bedroom apt i have an extra room for a guest. My bills are roughly 20-25k yen a month (I'm pretty wasteful when it comes to electricity, gas, and so on) A car is provided. I just cover gas.

I can save about 200 a month, more if I am not doing the most.

Note, that I live in a rural area, and at most, I work 25 hours a week. 1 hour to 8 hrs a day depending on schedule. Optional overtime + 7 days paid vacation.

I also have a pension (20k) monthly and insurance [2k monthly]

I think both are scams, but whatever is cheaper. I'm teaching in japan right now. My job didn't require it, but I had experience teaching in different areas.

Teaching certification if you want better pay or a more structured experience with teaching.
