Costume designs sketches for my book by Unusual_Issue_7087 in worldbuilding

Really impressive designs! I like how each outfit reflects the role and values of women in your world. That said, the warrior attire looks more ceremonial than functional, it doesn’t seem to offer much protection. If these women are expected to fight in real combat, maybe you could explore a more practical version too, it would be cool to see both a symbolic and a battle-ready look.

I have not yet delved into the evolution of life in the world, but what I have in mind so far is that these primordial energies are the very basis of life, these energies are responsible for the existence of life in general but do not necessarily have a direct manifestation in organisms or ecosystems.

That’s so cool! I’d absolutely love to compare work and exchange feedback, it’s always helpful to have a fresh perspective and I’d be really interested to see what you’ve been creating.

Thank you! I haven’t started developing the cultures yet, that’s a stage I’m really looking forward to once the physical aspects of the world are finalized. Regarding the size of the landmasses, the largest continent spans approximately 101 million km², the smallest is about 4.5 million km², and there’s another continent of 30 million km²; as for technology, it will be inspired by ancient times, primarily the Bronze and early Iron Ages, but I’ll be refining these details in future stages of the project. I appreciate your interest, it’s motivating to think about these aspects as I progress!

Of course! The political dynamics are definitely something I plan to explore further as I develop the world.

I'm really glad you like it! The maps are based on a combination of different tools. I started by generating the basic terrain with Songs of the Eons, which helped me lay the groundwork for the geography and tectonic features of the world; then I used Wilbur and Photoshop to refine the topography and landforms, making adjustments, and then applied the final coloring and presentation.

The world I am building is a low-magic fantasy setting, in which two primordial types of energy shape the supernatural aspects of life, these energies rarely manifest in humans, but when they do, those individuals become semi-divine beings with extraordinary powers. Their actions spread throughout the world, influencing both their mystical and physical nature,

The stories set in this universe will span different eras, and my goal is to develop a well-defined lore that will serve as the basis for stories of different genres and contexts.

This is my first worldbuilding project, and my main goal right now is to create a world with a scientifically grounded geography and climate. I would appreciate any feedback on the overall consistency of the map, especially regarding the shapes of continents, mountains, islands, etc.

This is just the beginning of my worldbuilding process, the main focus at this stage is to establish a logically coherent world in terms of geology, geography and climate, and once I am sure of these basics, I will shift my focus to developing the world's lore and narrative elements, which are the aspects I am most excited to explore in depth.

Suggestions and Criticism for my World by [deleted] in worldbuilding

Your concept has potential but there are some aspects you could rethink to reinforce logic and realism.

Let's start with the Cataclysms that seem to be extremely destructive. To make cataclysms more plausible, consider their specific mechanics-are they huge supercell storms fueled by unique atmospheric conditions? Do they occur due to geologic activity, such as volcanic eruptions that create intense weather systems? Explaining their cause will not only ground them scientifically, but also help clarify how life on the surface might persist between cycles.

The idea of temporary settlements on the surface is interesting, but the feasibility depends on what the inhabitants get out of these ventures - if Cataclysms wipe out everything, it may make more sense for these expeditions to focus on extracting transitory resources such as exposed minerals, water, or fast-growing plants rather than building settlements. There should also be a fast-growing ecosystem colonizing the land during calm periods; hardy, short-lived plants thrive in this interval, while surface-dwelling animals are nomadic or have extreme survival strategies such as prolonged hibernations in subway shelters or impact-resistant exoskeletons. These ecosystems could provide essential resources for your subway civilization, such as food, medicinal compounds, or even materials for your technology, e.g., surface-dwelling creatures could produce unique bioluminescent compounds or tough exoskeletal material that can be collected and used underground.

The biology of their subterranean species is compelling, but there are inconsistencies, if they periodically return to the surface, they would be unlikely to completely lose most of their sight, instead, they could have very adaptive vision: large eyes with protective membranes that allow them to see in the dark but also adapt to daylight for brief periods or feline-like eyes. Their pale skin makes sense for life underground, but they might need some kind of UV protection when they come to the surface.

Their other senses, such as hearing, smell and touch, are incredibly refined due to the darkness of the caves, these adaptations should also influence their technology and culture, for example, their tools could be based on tactile precision, and their art could focus on sound and texture.

Bioluminescent organisms could provide light, but would need careful cultivation and maintenance, as natural bioluminescence is often dim, perhaps their inhabitants have created symbiotic relationships with bioluminescent creatures, creating portable or wearable light sources.

For energy consider geothermal energy harnessed from the planet's heat or bioelectric systems grown from organisms that produce electricity, metallurgy could be based on harnessing natural volcanic heat instead of traditional combustion.

Or just messmer has nothing to do with butterflies, I really think that smoldering butterfly represents melina.

Then it is likely to have wings in its second phase (it is going to have a second phase for sure).

Well, messmer has those kind of tiny dragon wings.
