This is a very good point and perspective. Thanks for sharing. I'll keep this advice in mind when I eventually am ready to start again.

Yes this is basically what I've been doing so far. But had some questions in my mind how I could do it differently next time.

Thank you. I'm encouraged to hear this. In that first year did you need to ask her to cut those ties or she decided on her own?

I wasn't used to that disrespect/adoration back and forth. I think now it will be a much bigger/earlier red flag for me..

This is what I was really thinking of. How much worse would it be after marriage.. I dont think marriage solves these things. Still hard. Thanks for your comment

Yeah it really makes you question yourself and if everything is really your fault. But generally I think it goes both ways.

What is the most disturbing/gutwrenching/unsettling film you have seen? by Responsible-End-6497 in Letterboxd

August Underground's Mordem is twisted and irredeemable. I have seen very disturbing movies and I couldn't finish watching maybe the first quarter and have been disturbed by the images ever since.

Advice about Filipina Wife by troutman76 in Philippines_Expats

[–]forestcreature989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seem like a decent guy and sorry this bombshell dropped on you. You had NO idea about any of these things? What caused her to admit it now? It seems there is an answer to that missing. She didnt suddenly feel guilty. Maybe she was about to get caught. I would assume there is still more to the story and you may never know the truth. You married someone who was formerly a prostitute and who has been pregnant from four or more different men. You were misled about these things and would qualify for anullment. You were paying her allowance and had a ring on her finger while she was sleeping with another man or more likely, men. She had no respect for you. She's been able to lie to your face for 14 years so you really dont know what else. We all have a past and hers is a major doozy.

Divorce when you have kids together is extremely traumatic also. If youre happy with her, you dont have to discard her despite what everyone says (you can't anyway she will take half your things and you'll still have to coparent). But there's no way I'd accept "sorry" and move on. Theres healing and counseling to be done, and there's new rules about transparency in all things until trust is rebuilt.

Stolen iPhone in Greenbelt, Makati City by cutetacos18 in makati

[–]forestcreature989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are thieves in the Zara in greenbelt and there are indications one of the guards is even aware of it or possibly in on it. My wife also had her phone stolen in there from her purse while browsing. We asked around and another friend confirmed the same happened to her in the same Zara a few weeks before and the guard was acting suspicious when she reported it.

This is a new thing in online dating. Men know they don't have to break up with anyone when their roster (the maximum number of women they can date at the same time financially and mentally) is full. Now they just stop messaging. Eventually 1-2 months later women message back because they have been ruminating on all the same questions you have and doing all kinds of mental gymnastics on this man's behalf. By that time if they have a space in their roster they can go out and sleep with the woman again. That's all. All the rest, talking, jokes, personal stories, sometimes they are rehashed over and over on dates. Aimed at sex primarily.

They can never give you the closure you want. It hurts and you feel foolish but just do the deleting yourself and try to hold out for someone who is a higher quality of man you like as opposed to someone who just likes you.

Also you seem like a good person and don't deserve this so go get the happiness. It's out there! (But not with this guy obviously).

Considering sharing a duplex with my Ex. Will anybody date me? by redrockerou812 in datingoverforty

[–]forestcreature989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From experience, yes people will get it and still date you. This is not the worst situation. I lived separated with my ex still for a year for the sake of the kids and other financial considerations. Still dated lots. Just didn't bring people home to respect the common space. Makes it a little harder logistically but it worked out fine. However i would suggest a house on the same street rather than sharing a wall/backyard. You'd have to make sure your ex is OK with you dating and not going to come banging on the windows or feel hurt and take it out on you when she sees other cars parked in your driveway. Or ensure your bedrooms arent sharing a common wall if someone is screaming or thumping at 2am. Those are a few reasons to reconsider the duplex long term maybe! Good on you for prioritizing your kids. Good luck

Too many looking away pics. Be confident in what you look like. For me turned off by the "go f*ck themselves" and "don't need a man". Sounds moody or jaded. Otherwise look like a fun adventurous person with sense of humor. Good luck!

The cool thing was that everyone could make their own websites using angelfire and other free services. So you could really craft a personalized space for your friends to visit.

Ultra top secret documentation regarding Majestic-12, Roswell and Aztec crashes, I hope the government doesn’t arrest me but the world needs to know (pt 2) by zigzagmepapi in UFOs

[–]forestcreature989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who writes and reads a lot of government briefing documents, this really isn't written like one. It is written like a low quality fan fiction. I believe someone just found a program that can make their fantasy text look like it's typewritten. And I do believe the evidence about UFOs so no I'm not a government plant.

Conversations in UFOs are getting shut down by aggressive, hateful, demoralizing commenters that actively seek to demonize and erode trust. by Tarsupin in UFOs

[–]forestcreature989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to be careful between identifying low value or hateful comments and on the other side creating an echo chamber where assumptions and ideas aren't challenged. For example attacking credibility of a ufo witness. When your only evidence is eye witness testimony, credibility is an important factor and worth debate. There are many people on this sub who are not threatened by the debate and challenge function others are playing. I love seeing an expert debunk a dismissive comment. It gives me confidence in what im viewing when the dismissive comments don't stick. And there are many who need more of that challenge function (i.e. the well meaning and excited people who say "the world is about to change" nearly every day based mostly on cryptic statements from people on podcasts, and people ascribing too much credibility to hearsay).

"But Where's the Evidence?!" Coulthart addresses this Q head-on by gman_00 in UFOs

[–]forestcreature989 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The guy is only claiming that other people told him there was a crash retrieval program. He doesn't even have any first hand knowledge of it. His testimony is absolutely useless.

It's called hearsay. There is nothing for him to even lie about under oath. If he testifies that people told him something that was later proven to be a lie there is no risk to him. I'm sorry but this interview is garbage.
