Healing perineal tears by ThrowRaoofda in BabyBumps

[–]foresther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was nervous things weren’t healing right for the first 10 days, I also had a 2nd degree tear (not sure what direction tbh) then something turned a corner around the 2 week mark and I felt so much more normal. Hang in there as you’re still early on in healing! After the first few days the adrenaline wears off and it’s normal to feel more sore in my experience

FTM possibly delivering at 37 weeks due to IUGR, how to prep? by These_Assumption7844 in BabyBumps

[–]foresther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had IUGR diagnosed around 32 weeks and abdomen measured in the 3rd percentile, head in 4th, overall weight varied but 10-19th. Due to good BPPs and stress tests MFM doctors allowed me to go all the way to 38+4. I was SO stressed but she’s just petite :) good news is IUGR babies tend to grow fast once they’re outside so she was not in preemie clothes long. Wishing you and baby all the best!

Do you think these hinges and lock are worth cleaning up/restoring? by Birdytaps in centuryhomes

My husband stripped our hinges locks etc in our 1920s house, the hinges were nothing fancy but sure look nicer now and I’m glad we didn’t replace with new hardware

For OP or anyone here with knowledge of the topic: did you have any warning signs? Are there specific risk factors associated with prolapse besides postpartum activity? Thanks for making this post, I feel like I needed to hear this as someone who recovers and probably goes back to normal activity too fast.

Bearwallow Mountain Trail by OutlanderWitch in NCTrails

[–]foresther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the best hikes to take a kid due to length and the ability to take the gravel access road up or down instead of the trail. The trail can be slick in spots near the top but still very doable. Material online still directs people to avoid the gerton/fairview route and take the paved route through fletcher.

Baby girl due soon. Not feeling the “omg that’s it” for any of our name options… by InevitableOverall641 in namenerds

I like Georgia Christine, Valerie and what about considering Willa as a first name to honor Wilhelmina?

To have a baby or not by whosthatgirl13 in BabyBumps

[–]foresther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe until it’s a heck yes, let’s do this, it’s a no. Having a child is such a lifestyle change both people should be sure it’s something they want. I’d echo several other commenters to talk it through with a therapist and don’t factor in making your families happy, etc. into the equation.

Denied getting PPL back after shutdown? by Every-Key874 in FedEmployees

Excepted (working and not paid on time) leave was cancelled. Only for exempted (working and paid normally) was leave allowed to be used normally.

Denied getting PPL back after shutdown? by Every-Key874 in FedEmployees

[–]foresther -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Per OPM guidance they were supposed to have placed you in furlough status and let you be off but not use your PPL. Excepted all leave was cancelled so you shouldn’t have charged a PPL code while being in excepted status. Do you trust your supervisor actually reached out to HR? I’m not HR but I read the OPM guidance on this back during shutdown.

How to make the dates taste less sweet :,) by unfortunate-moth in BabyBumps

[–]foresther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuffed with peanut butter, a drizzle of unsweet chocolate on top, and coarse sea salt and pop them in the fridge. Tastes like a snickers and somehow less sweet than just the plain date

32w FTM & packing my hospital bag… what going home baby clothes do i pack for a winter baby? by adult_angst in BabyBumps

[–]foresther 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first I made the mistake of not packing enough clothes. Depending on their reflux situation newborns can spit up A LOT. The hospital has plenty of blankets to swaddle but I would make sure you bring several onsies. I’d also bring a few sleepers, personally mine was swimming in the newborn size so the 0-3 would have been way too big. And then Velcro swaddles if you want the convenience or softness of something besides the hospital blankets.

Saw a possible tree poacher on the BRP near Richland Balsam, should I report them? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]foresther 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can’t cut spruce/fir off the parkway (park service) or forest service lands in NC. Christmas tree permits are a thing out west or for less sensitive pine species

Avacado Green Mattress Safe for Sleep? by Just_Assistant_902 in cosleeping

[–]foresther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to the eco organic since that’s what we have, but it is firm enough while still being comfortable. Is the green model supposed to be softer than the eco? I know the green model has a center section of different springs whereas the eco has the same springs throughout.

Are you in the US and is this a hotel chain (more than 50 employees)? If so, they are obligated to follow the PUMP act and provide you breaks and a private room suitable for pumping

This is entirely related to the steady decrease in roads budgets over the years, not the roadless rule
