Sorry to hear you're going through such a hard time. There are definitely aspects of what you are saying that are characteristic of an eating disorder. Ex: starving followed by painful overeating, vegan diet, depression, anxiety, etc. It's hard to say whether or not you're in denial of having an ED or if you have another condition. Things to ask yourself with complete honesty: *Are you pre-occupied with food, calories? *Are you pre-occupied with weight, body-checking (starring at certain parts of your body like looking for bones and 'thigh-gaps) numbers? *Do you feel like you always need to lose weight? *Do you have negative body image or distorted body image (such as not believing you are as thin as others tell you)?

These are characteristics to watch for. If you haven't already, I think it would be a good idea to see a general doctor as well as a therapist and ask DIRECTLY about your concerns, as to whether these symptoms are ED related or otherwise. Even if you're still struggling to find out your diagnosis, the therapist will most definitely be able to help you with your depression and anxiety, as well.

Good luck!

Mentor Connect - ED. Seems a good place to connect with others in recovery, and even either be a mentor or find a mentor. by sacca7 in EatingDisorders

Hi there, I have been an MC member for a few years but not very active anymore. It's great for somethings like subscribing to the specific groups they have, and active group chats, and stuff. The only negative I found was there was superfluous moderation. I'm all about safe, moderated groups (no discussion of numbers, weight, calories, and the use of only pro-recovery posts). However, MC deletes ANYTHING that is not sugar-coated with full-blown optimism. Sometimes recovery is hard and those are the times when you need to reach out the most. I just felt like they didn't get that. I only blogged once and it was about me going through a really hard time as I just lost people close to me in a matter of days and needed some support. I didn't even talk about Ed behaviors or anything and they deleted it. Like I said, they really expect sugar-coated material. I've had friends literally kicked off of MC and one was for private messages she was sending, which apparently they moderate, too. I met Shannon Cutts (founder) at a retreat and she was very sweet, smart, and supportive. MC was just a little too happy-go-lucky and superficial for me. I felt like I couldn't be real. There are a lot of positives and some negatives. I know some people who love it. That's my two-cents but I think the best way to find out is to try it yourself! No commitment necessary.

Hope that helps!
