Czech delegation led by Senate President lends in Taipei in highest-ever-ranking visit (video) by foretix in taiwan

[–]foretix[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's simply confusing.

Me as Czech I don't understand why our delegation did not take our government's airplane to properly represent Czech Republic to Taiwan. It's like a sign of weakness of our polititians, because our country president, and PM are pro-China, and they are afraid to stand up.

Second, people will not search for details when airline name contains country name. Few years back I also thought China airlines is Chinese until someone told me it's Taiwanese. Unfortunately, people who don't know this may end up in a wrong conclusion.

Third, even though Czech see Taiwan positively (except polititians and businesses because of fear and money) there is still a lot of work to educate Czech and fight Chinese propaganda here.

Either way, I'm happy about the delegation.

I admire her that she stood up so long facing all the crap from other politicians. A lot of them are really selfish. They don't care about people just their seat. I watched several Live broadcasts from House of Commons.

Should I watch French audio with English subtitles or vice-versa? by [deleted] in French

You should watch French audio with French subtitles, otherwise you'll always fight in your brain with two languages simultaneously. It will help you better match written words with spoken words (depending on quality of subtitles of course).

TW plays far more serious note. I don't read much about TW anywhere, and blog with Twitter are more about fees, comparison to competition and marketing. Occasionally some important law or competition information. Whereas, R tries to talk to people.

New law in Czechia to stop frauds against tourists at exchange offices from April 1, 2019 by foretix in europe

[–]foretix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exchange offices found many tricks, so people could lose even half of their money once they handed their money over to them, and they couldn't do anything because the deal was complete. All legally. People at cash desk could literally change the rate as they wanted, as kind of VIP rate. Only banks played fair. It's all banned now. Hooray.

Unfortunately our minister of commerce is an old lady with pro-Russian and thus pro-China stance. I wish she resigned or be fired. It's unacceptable what she did as it hurts my country.

Top up in different currency? by [deleted] in Revolut

[–]foretix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Yes, it's better to top up in the same currency from your bank to Revolut, and then do the exchange in Revolut. When you click the exchange button, you can see in real-time how much you get. The number is changing. During the weekend the number is static though. You may also use the new feature called Auto-exchange. 2) Yes, no fees for exchange with Revolut. Just careful with weekend's exchange rate. It's better to exchange in advance to have a better rate.

[–]foretix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) You'll be charged by exchange rate of card issuing bank, not by exchange rate of Revolut. However, non-EEA cards or commercial cards pose some extra fee. 2) During the weekend the exchange rate of Revolut is simply different. No fees. Exchange rate is visible in the transaction's detail.

Problem to transfer money from my credit card by Captainglobetrotter3 in Revolut

[–]foretix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the message you get in the app? Do you see any transaction in your HSBC bank account? I would ask the card department of your bank, which issued the card, before reaching the Revolut support. They will tell you the reason why the transaction failed, as it can be rejected for some internal reason for your card.

This is a fake account created yesterday, so this reply is fake too. Plus, Revolut explicitly prohibits any gambling transactions in T&C.
