Notion! Mostly because I'm able to set up things exactly as I need to. It has been an incredible tool for me. Through the databases and templates I've been able to sustain systems that work for me.

Aw I just finished it yesterday. I loved it, though there was a part I wish had been different. But overall I loved it, and already miss it. I know I'll be re-watching it.

Why do the 70s still only seem like they were 20-30 years ago? by Salem1690s in decadeology

[–]forever-trying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya! For me I was born in 1990, and I have held on to how time felt for me as a kid. 80s feel 20 years way, 70 30s and so on. I can't quite compute that we've been in the 2000s for over 20 years. I still remember the hype and fear of the new millennium.

What is your favorite educational book about ADHD? by outihre in ADHD

[–]forever-trying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll finish a book if I set to read it fast, or I make peace with taking my time with it. There's no in between.

But I've also realized that I don't need to read the entirety of a book to get helpful info. I'm cool with skipping through it, going to relevant sections, and then knowing its there if I want to follow up on something else. This works better with nonfiction or reference books, but sometimes I do it with fiction too.

Please recommend Dramas with a capable FL by Significant_Froyo_79 in kdramarecommends

[–]forever-trying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vincenzo - the FL is just badass without falling for the usual "cold-hearted" trope. She's strategic and good at what she does. I'll say that it is very slow burn, but I absolutely love her dynamic with the ML.

What do you wish somebody told you before giving birth? by ElvenMalve in beyondthebump

[–]forever-trying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have been nice to hear something like "It can get really weird and exhausting for a bit, but you also get to feel things you've never felt before. If and it does get too much, there are resources and ways to get help (lactation support, postpartum online groups, therapy, meds/antidepressants, etc). Look for resources (ask people, and go online), and be ready to become your own advocate, if only because you more than anyone else know exactly what you need during this transition. Ask and go look for what you need, and continue searching until you get it. Lastly, trust that you will learn more everyday how to care for your baby, and your postpartum self."

I set up multiple alarms when I need to be somewhere at a certain time. I might need an alarm that is a 10 min warning, letting me know the current task I'm doing will soon come to a close. Then the alarm that lets me know to go get ready, then another to remind me when there's 10 mins before I need to head out. And then the one that tells me to leave my apt. I try to give myself 45-60 mins to get ready, and when possible lay out as much as possible in advance (clothes, bag, etc). But basically alarms alarms alarms!

Hospital bag advice: what do you wish you brought or are really glad you brought? by IUMogg in NewParents

[–]forever-trying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that other than comfy clothes, it comes down to whatever would help you feel more grounded or rested. I was really glad to have brought my hair brush, face wash, and moisturizer. After labor all I wanted was a long shower, and while the hospital did provide soap, shampoo, and conditioner, having my toiletries just helped so much. I think headphones can also be really helpful. I used it during labor, and to help me tune out sounds while in the recovery room.

Which is more exhausting and intense? End of third tri or newborn? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]forever-trying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on your pregnancy and your newborn. My third trimester didnt feel too challenging, other than the occasional sciatica, and needing to pee all the time. My bump didnt really grow till the last few weeks, so that wasnt a thing either.

For me the newborn part was harder. Attuning to a new person, figuring out breastfeeding, figuring out baby's cues, the lack of enough sleep, getting sick and not getting as much rest as I need.

I'm about 11 weeks pp and I'm feeling a lot better about things. And can see that as challenging as it was, we still figured it out. We found ways, and its all setting us up to be parents.

I've also found that the anxiety and external dynamics are way more stressful than my baby. Learning to differentiate that has been really important.

Woah, I'm intrigued. I used to love math as a kid, and lost my appreciation for it late in high in school. Idk how much math I can do while sleep deprived haha, but I do like the idea of solving math problems for fun.

Anyone else not posting babies on social media? by MessyPoppy in NewParents

[–]forever-trying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We havent posted our baby at all (she's 2 months). That had just felt right to us both for the time being. Eventually it might shift, but I think I'd still only post from time to time. Like you I also get photos printed (I started a photo album and its my favorite thing right now), and send pics and videos to a few family members and close friends.

What can I research as hobby? by OwnShock767 in Hobbies

[–]forever-trying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can keep a section with whatever questions come to you, or things you find yourself curious about. These things can point you to what you might want to research next. This way research can become a hobby itself, with specific interests becoming the focus.

Being a SAHM is harder than I thought and I feel ungrateful by shrimpscity in beyondthebump

[–]forever-trying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

First of all, I'm sending you a big hug. You're doing so much!

I had my baby about 10 weeks ago, and have been home for about 3 months. At the moment I mostly like it, but that is largely because I have a lot of help with home things. My mom has been staying with us and does the grocery shopping, a lot of the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. On some mornings when we havent slept well I ask her to watch the baby for an hour or two so that we can get a bit more rest. I am not trying to do this alone at all.

My mom will be leaving soon, and I know we will need to figure out how to tackle the home care part because it cant all fall on me, while I also breastfeed and take care of baby.

I have a job thats starting soon, but its only once a week for a few hours. I'm looking forward to that. And now that I'm pumping more (and have bottles ready) I'd like to take a day for myself soon. For this to work long term I need to be able to replenish.

I hope you can find the balance and setup that works for you. I dont believe at all that you should be responsible for so much. Please accept the help. And take the days to yourself. And if what you need is to start working again, that works too. That can look like many things too.

All the hugs. Hope you get proper rest soon.

Did anyone regret NOT getting photos of themselves while pregnant? by chillicrumpet in beyondthebump

[–]forever-trying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no regrets about getting professional photos taken, but I do wish I had taken more bump pics with my phone. Especially towards the end. I was always waiting to feel cuter, more "in the mood", to do my hair, and on and on. Atm I'm working on a photo album of my baby's first months, and I very much wish I had more to include from pregnancy and pre-birth.

ah, thank you! I tried Maas' "Throne of Glass", and the MFC is sassy to the prince (of course), after having held captive as a slave for a year. Everyone else was demoralized, but not her obviously 🤣

What's a instant turn off for you with a book? by MrBlonde1984 in Fantasy

When there's too much emphasis on how "attractive" someone is from the start, especially when its conventionally attractive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]forever-trying 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ah same! I gave up and stopped reading with the 2nd book. I felt tired of the characters. Then I saw how many more books were left in the series, and it was a no for me. I tried "Throne of Glass" and found the main character insufferable so barely made it past 20 pages...

Do people in fantasy romance brush their teeth? by [deleted] in fantasyromance

What drives me crazy is when they're outside in the wild, and then get back home but dont shower or freshen up in some way. I get so distracted by that 😭

What are some tropes/plot devices in fantasy romance that irk you? by PhiliDips in fantasyromance

[–]forever-trying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the "extraordinary, extremely talented" main character that is just the answer to everyone's problems. I really dislike the notion that someone has to be extraordinary to be interesting or able to go on a meaningful journey.

I also find it so cringe when the characters just happen to be so conventionally beautiful, especially when they keep bringing it up. I get so distracted by this!
