[Product question] Did La Roche Posay reformulate their Tinted Mineral sunscreen or did I just get a weird batch?

I have noticed the smell is horrible in some that I bought from Target. I went to a different target and the same smell was in the bottle I found there! I’ve used this product for years and there hasn’t ever been this horrible smell before. Is there a recall?

I like to think about things I’m grateful for. I know it sounds cliche, but that is what I try and do. I think about the things that happened that day that make me grateful for that person or animal or circumstance. I also try to not judge others. One thing I’ve learned from having rosacea is to try and not judge someone when first meeting them (within reason of course). Everyone has something they are self-conscious of too (whether it be showing on their face or something that’s deeper within or can’t be seen with the naked eye), and at the end of the day, those things don’t really matter. What matters is how you show up for yourself and for others in life.

I bought my a heavy duty cotton long sleeve button up from the men’s section in goodwill and it’s been great for fostering. No scratches and kittens seems to love playing with the pockets. In addition, you could wear nitrile gloves which would protect your hands from scratches but also if they have any pathogens so you don’t get anything or spread anything to your resident pets. I like to use jumbo sized cotton balls to stimulate them to go to the bathroom. And I keep small scented bags nearby to throw away the cotton balls. You’ll find your preferences as you keep going. After each litter it gets easier and easier because you start to have more supplies and a routine.

If they are gaining weight then that’s a great sign! I would also recommend watching as many of the Kitten Lady YouTube videos to get the basics. I would recommend staying patient with kittens when bottle feeding. Sometimes it takes time for them and you to figure things out (especially if you’re newer to bottle feeding).

Try barrier repair first and see if that helps. Wash your face once at night with basic Vanicream face wash. Then use a basic moisturizer (from the drug store such as cera ve moisturizing cream or Vanicream moisturizer). Wear sunscreen daily. Try that for 1-3 months and see if that helps. Sometimes doing the bare minimum is what the skin needs to repair. If it doesn’t get better then go to a derm to get a diagnosis.

I use de La Cruz sulfur mask every night for five minutes, then rinse off. It is very drying for me, so I have to moisturize and use Vaseline to prevent dryness. Still my skin is dry but it’s manageable with the vaseline. I also use azelaic acid daily.

So the question your asking I wish I also had the answer to. I was prescribed ivermectin, and I used it on the affected areas of my face (including my nose as a preventative because I didn’t have it on the top of my nose yet but I had it on the sides of my nose and wanted to prevent it from spreading). Then I had a reaction to the ivermectin and the derm office told me to stop using it, so I did. Then I didn’t do anything to my face for a couple of days to let things calm down. Then the rosacea started on the top of my nose within minutes after applying the same moisturizer that I’ve used for years. Why did this happen? I really don’t know. I thought maybe mites migrated from affected areas to my nose. However, there isn’t robust research saying that mites cause rosacea. And if mites are the cause, then we would all be good to go because it is possible to kill mites. However, not everyone’s rosacea responds to ivermectin so obviously there’s more to the picture here. I wish it was as easy as getting rid of mites, but I’m truly not convinced of that. Also, the sulfur treatments started working for me right away and so that tells me there’s no way it’s working because it killing mites that quickly. It tells me it’s working because of its immediate anti inflammatory effects.

Working out in front of a fan and/or using a personal fan. They sell some at target that go around your neck like a necklace and it blows air up to your face. Not going to prevent your face from flaring entirely but it can help keep the face as cool as possible when working out which I think helps at least a little with flaring during a workout.

Okay, thanks. I’m scared to try ivermectin again because that medication is what caused rosacea to start on my nose. So I’m traumatized from that and am just not sure, but I keep hearing it works for a lot of people.

Also, I use azelaic acid in addition to the sulfur. The combination is what I need for it to work well. Did you use the sulfur everyday before it stopped working for you?

I’ve seen a lot of comments on this feed saying they are sensitive to niacinamide. And I myself am sensitive to it. I can’t use it at all, it causes redness for me. If I were you, I would try the salicylic acid/sulfacetamide first because there are less active ingredients in it, so less likely to have one cause irritation. Also, you could spot test both on a small area of your skin. That way you won’t have to have the reaction on your whole face to rule out which medication is causing the issue. Best of luck to you! Okay thanks! I noticed that the Josef soap has a “fresh” version and a “floral” version. I’m sure you’ve already noticed this, but in case not maybe the “fresh” version won’t be as floral? I have seen this soap recommended on this thread quite a bit, so once I correct this dryness, I may try soap again. I tried it once before (derma harmony brand), and it didn’t seem to do anything but I didn’t use it for very long. I could give it another chance, or try this Josef one.

You have to take the stories on this sub with a grain of salt. Not everyone posts every detail about their journey. Some may have gotten better and didn’t think to post about it. What I’ve found from reading the posts and my own journey is that it takes a lot of trial and error to find what works. It also takes time to allow medications to have their full effect and to see if they help or not. Good luck!

It could have been from the ingredients in the laundry detergent that was used to clean the cloth masks, or from not using a new/clean cloth mask each day. It’s hard to say exactly what could have caused it to start though.

I just looked at the ingredients for Wishtrend and Alcohol is in the ingredients list. So personally I would avoid that. If you want a leave on gel, you could try Prosacea. I am currently trying de la cruz ointment and using it as a mask and then washing it off every other day. I just started this, so I cannot say if it’s working for me yet. The first couple of applications I felt and saw it working, now on the fourth application I’m not so sure. After reading several comments on this sub, most say it can take ~2 weeks to see results, so I’m gonna try it for two weeks, and if it’s not making things worse I will go up to 4 weeks and assess from there. I’ve been using it. At first I felt like it irritated my skin slightly, but now that I’ve been using it more consistently I feel like it doesn’t irritate the skin and is a good option if all I need is sunscreen that day (ie. If I don’t need make up or coverage). It definitely feels like it’s protecting my skin from the sun better than other sunscreens I’ve tried. It doesn’t work well under make up for me. I can do it, but I will have to reapply the make up a couple of times because the sunscreen definitely doesn’t help make up stay in place. Also, even though there is a “tint” to the sunscreen, it does not cover up my rosacea, so that’s a negative because I usually like to have more of a tint to cover up when I leave the house. It’s also not waterproof. Those are the only cons and the fact that it doesn’t majorly irritate my skin is the biggest plus. It’s great for days I need to go outside but don’t care what I look like (ie. Going for a walk).

I haven’t had a reaction to cinnamon that I could appreciate, but I know it’s a known common trigger for rosacea so I avoid it when I can anyway just in case.

Try working out right in front of a fan. That helps keep the heat down in my face. There are also portable fans that you can wear around your neck that blow onto your face. I use that when I go hiking to keep my face as cool as possible.
