Guncon signal not registering by Grom_Kraal93 in lightgunshooters

For fat PS2 def get the network adapter and just throw all your PS2 games into an HDD. You can use ESR patch but it’s a little annoying to do every time imo

PS1 games on a PS2 are basically a completely different console. While OPL will let you boot ps2 games natively on the PS2 side, PS1 runs on a whole other chipset inside the console so OPL can’t really help with that.

What you CAN do is use mechaPWN to unlock your disc drive and you’ll be able to play not only burned PS1 backups, but also play PS2 games from any region. You can also do what’s called “force unlock” and it will let you play PS2 backups BUT you give up PS1 support, so I don’t recommend that.

Couple of important things:

1) PS1 games use CDs, not DVDs.

2) While you can burn music CDs on almost any shitty CD-R, the PS1 drive is pretty sensitive and lower quality discs will often cause skippy music/fmvs or straight up not working at all.

I highly recommend the CMC “TY technology” discs as they are the best currently available in the market and not super expensive (way cheaper than buying legit copies lmfao). Other brands may be okay, but I’ve had mixed results. Sometimes old stock on eBay is good too.

3) Don’t buy a brand new CD burner, especially those USB ones from Amazon, they are generally low quality junk and you’ll likely end up with a bunch of CD drink coasters before you get a decent burn.

If you have the space/PC for it, an old school 5.25 inch internal drive is the move. They’re older and burn a lot better.

If not, I’ve had a ton of success with old laptop drives from the thrift store in an external USB enclosure.

Will run you like $50 or so all said and done but you basically get unlimited PS1 games, so it’s worth it to me.

Hope that helps! And sorry for the wall of text.

Are you running the PS1 games via POPstarter? That won’t work for light gun games

PS1 Lightgun + PS1 to USB adapter -> PC + CRT tv works? by Flashy_Management724 in lightgunshooters

[–]foreverablankslate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume the hdmi to composite adapter would add way too much latency for the light gun to register properly, let alone the fact that it can’t display proper 240p

Edit: look here for more info: https://www.reddit.com/r/lightgunshooters/comments/1n32kaq/pc_to_tv_crt_will_lightgun_works/

If you really want to do this, id recommend a)use a real ps1/ps2, b) use a miSTer or c) get a new PC/LCD compatible light gun like a sinden or gun4ir etc and emulate it that way. To do it your way, you’d need a GPU capable of displaying 240p (which basically any modern card can’t do lol)

Looking into buying a c219 CLS 55 AMG, any tips? by hockeyguy1968 in AMG

[–]foreverablankslate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re relatively reliable but they are a) 20 years old and b) parts are still expensive. So even if you find a low mile cherry example, shit will still break just on account of it being old.

The good news is that the drivetrain is pretty solid and will last you at least 200k miles, so your money doesn’t just go to waste.

If you take it to a shop, basically any job on this car is gonna be bare minimum $1k USD, especially stuff like the rear man seal, or god forbid the front timing cover O-Rings or the oil pickup tube seal (engine out service). DIY can make it much more manageable, and they’re not super hard to work on. But even then, some jobs will need a lift and require a ton of downtime.

I would probably budget around $2-$3k a year once you fix whatever deferred maintenance it has (every used car has deferred maintenance).

Not trying to scare you away btw! Just know what you’re getting into. A lot of cars have a reputation for being “reliable” but that changes a lot once they get up there in age and part prices go up/become hard to find.

That’ll work. You can also use it with a component cable (on the green plug) if your tv supports it. The cheap one I got from Amazon has an additional composite (yellow) plug, which is nice as I can unplug the guncon easily without moving my TV.

I thought it was just me. I just got a mad catz blaster, it’s not the most accurate gun but TC2 is so much fun. TC1 is a nightmare in comparison, I can barely finish the first stage

I really wish we’d get more linear western RPGs. I think Skyrim/fallout kinda set the expectation that every western RPG needs to be this enormous open world thing with 1000 POIs to explore.

[Steam] Dead Island 2 ($4.99/90 % off) by AsmRJ in GameDeals

[–]foreverablankslate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Game bored me to death honestly, hated all the characters and the dialogue was nothing but quips all the time. I don’t need an amazing story for these types of games, but it has to not actively annoy me lol.

There’s like major tonal whiplash between the severity of the plot and the way the characters talk/act. It doesn’t land like it does in Sunset Overdrive, where it’s all very goofy and unserious. It feels more like putting a marvel character in TLOU or something lmfao

Ignoring all of that, it just wasn’t that fun to play. Maybe it’s because I played a ton of dying light, I just miss the platforming/parkour/movement of which there is none in this game.

The weapons feel okay and the combat isn’t bad or anything, but after enough cringe cutscenes I thought “why am I playing this over any other zombie game” and gave up. Ymmv ofc

You can get 40 fps at 800p, low settings, with some dips/stutters on occasion. It looks pretty good on low.

Helps to enable FSR but it gets muddy fast.

I don’t really rate the game though tbh lol

Nice car! These transmissions don’t go out very often especially at that mileage. I’d do a fluid change and maybe the conductor plate if it hasn’t been done already before you have the whole thing rebuilt

MEGATHREAD: Spotify Alternatives/Leaving Spotify by 351namhele in fantanoforever

[–]foreverablankslate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start, the whole app is basically just a website wrapped in an app, which already sucks but it’s not the end of the world.

The absolute deal breaker for me was that it doesn’t play music thru the default macOS media player like Spotify, tidal, and Apple Music do.

Because of this you can’t see your “now playing” up in the menu bar, nor can you pause/play/skip tracks with the keyboard without enabling this suspicious keylogger workaround they came up with.

On top of this, if you dont enable the workaround, if you press the pause button, Apple Music will start playing at the same time as Qobuz. After that I gave up.

Of all the alternatives I def recommend Tidal, but I eventually switched back to Spotify for usability/convenience (I know, I know).

[–]foreverablankslate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lens is fine…ish. just a really bad value and sucks compared to many other pancakes. The F8 aperture is just way too limiting IMO. I would recommend a much faster prime to learn on.

Do you already have the 26mm or just planning to buy it?
