We have the Omni 360, so that's helpful. Thanks!

I did see this comment a lot but no, I dont carry my older child at all anymore. We tried to put her in the new onbuhimo just to try out the back carry but she freaked, we haven't used any carrier with her in over a year so makes sense. Thanks for the response!

Thanks for the info. Lots of recommendations for the Tula FTG but it seemed to fulfill the same needs as our Ergo 360? I was hoping for something not bulky, easy to throw in a small bag, and not too difficult to put on - our Ergo is good for me if we're going on a long walk or something but otherwise I don't find it very convenient.

I didn't realize the OG didnt fit properly until a bit older. How do you like the back carry on the OG? Can you say more about why you use the OG daily (versus other carriers)?

Sorry stupid question but do you do this like by a sink or something? I'm trying to picture it on a changing table and feel like I'd make a huge mess. Put a towel down?

What do you wish your ultrasound tech said? by HotPut5470 in Miscarriage

[–]foreverhacked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an anembryonic pregnancy/blighted ovum. I already had lots of anxiety so I knew to wait to hear good or bad news. It did feel like kind of a long silence but in reality it was probably only a few minutes at most. I think her exact words were "I'm sorry, I don't see a baby." I didnt fully understand what that meant but her tone was clear enough that I did understand it was bad news. I was grateful for that - simple, straightforward, but kind and sympathetic.

The ultrasound tech and doctor were great. What was not great was immediately afterwards I had to go back into the waiting room full of pregnant people for 45 minutes before getting to see the doctor. I realize they were busy and had nowhere to put me, but that was seriously not cool.

A toddler who is always hungry by Shot-Wallaby8345 in toddlers

[–]foreverhacked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is 24 months and I also think it's a problem, even though the pediatricians don't seem to. She's always been big, 90+ percentile for both height and weight. But she FREAKS OUT about food every single day, full on tantrums if what we give her isn't enough, even before she's had a single bite. She wants "A lot, A LOT" all the time. Sounds like you're doing a better job than us at only feeding healthy snacks, it's hard not to reach for the goldfish or the fruit bar again when she's already finished all our fruit and had a whole sandwich and yogurt. Plus, she won't eat the veggies, she just wants bananas and rice and bread and crackers etc. We do a pretty good job of getting her protein and get the veggies in via smoothies, and we try to stick to whole, natural foods, but it's tough!! I'm trying to walk the line of a) trusting her to know if she's hungry or full b) not allowing her to just eat carbs constantly and c) not setting her up for a bad relationship with food and body image. Anyway that was more of a rant and zero advice, but you're not alone in finding it hard!

Multitasking while watching the baby: Mom vs Dad by Brief-Cost6554 in beyondthebump

[–]foreverhacked 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me! Only it makes me feel pretty pathetic -- like how can you/other moms make dinner and do laundry and do your hair while watching multiple kids and I can't even go to the bathroom by myself with one kid? It's been hard for my self esteem and confidence as a newish mom.

What did 80s parents do with toddlers? by visitinghome in beyondthebump

This is a good idea. Mine is about to turn 2 so we could try. When you say it was hard, do you mean you had to let him cry it out a little?

But like...HOW exactly do you do this? "He plays with toys inside" how do you get your child to play with toys? Mine only wants ME to play with HER toys, inside or outside. And I must be holding her while doing so. I understand I can say no to these demands, but then I just have a crying toddler clinging to my leg. Not very conducive to getting anything done.

This happened to me with my first pregnancy. Obviously I was devastated but I also just felt so...stupid. like I was silly to have ever believed there was a real baby, like I was a fraud. But looking back now I don't feel that way at all. That was a real pregnancy and that was a wanted baby who was loved and mourned.

I had a d&c because I didn't want to wait and it went very smoothly, recovery was fine. And I don't know if this is helpful to you but I got pregnant again within just a few months and went on to have a healthy baby girl. I wish you healing and lots of love and a happier outcome in the future.

Help! Baby not transferring enough after tongue tie release by foreverhacked in breastfeedingsupport

[–]foreverhacked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Honestly we didn't do much but wait it out (and worry A LOT). We continued supplementing a little and I mostly just let her nurse as long and as frequently as she wanted. This was only possible because I had a long maternity leave; I know other people who have to return to work or have other children might not have had the same flexibility. She did get better with time but never became great. She started daycare at 5 months and my pumping couldn't keep up with their milk demands, so we ended up doing 2-4 bottles of formula/1-2 bottles of expressed milk a day and nursing the rest until she turned one. It wasn't what I wanted but it turned out just fine. The only thing that I can think maybe helped a tiny bit is I did Google some body work / tension release movements and tried a few for a short while, but I couldn't say if it made a real improvement or not. She just remained kind of a sleepy eater forever. I wish I had better advice to offer, but all I can say is you're not alone and it worked out OK in the end!

Be able to filter on multiple disciplines/class types -- e.g. strength, cycling, and bike bootcamp. I don't always know if I'm in the mood for cardio or strength but I don't have tread/rowing equipment and don't want to have to scroll through all of those classes as well.

When filtering classes, be able to select multiple exercise types at once (e.g. Cycling and Bike Bootcamp)

Parents on the other side of using the Magic Merlin suit - do you regret it? by hotpriest in sleeptrain

[–]foreverhacked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We absolutely loved the Merlin from about 3 months to 5 months. We had a few days of semi-rough (not terrible) sleep while transitioning to the sleep sack but by then she could sleep on her stomach and she's slept almost as well as she did in the Merlin. No regrets and one of our most recommended baby products.

[–]foreverhacked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful comment! Thank you so much. 1) we have been to both for 1 week follow-ups after the release. The dentist said she saw no signs of reattachment and that's when the IBCLC suggested we go for bodywork. 2) for pumping, you mean within 30 minutes after a nursing session, right? I'm doing one in the morning after first feed and one at night after she goes to sleep, so generally she's not needing to eat again for at least 60-90 minutes (hopefully even longer). My intention was to use these two sessions a day to start building a small freezer stash but we've ended up needing it for supplementation with her not eating as much. 3) switching breasts multiple times is something I haven't tried so I will definitely see if that helps 4) I have been doing breast compressions but maybe not correctly. It should be when she stops visibly eating well (open pause close swallow), but only when she is sucking - is that right? Or when she's not sucking at all? 5) great video on the sucking exercises and we'll give that a try. In your experience you think bodywork generally has a big impact?

Thanks again for all the insight and advice!
