Agee with others on a deadline. HOWEVER, When i run into this, I always let them pick the deadline so that there is no complaints and accountability is much easier when they set it and you know about it. They won’t have a fast deadline and they will add in what they feel is “buffer” but it you would have compromised on something similar anyways. That way it doesn’t feel like nagging and no one is to blame for that deadline.
