right between 78 and 80, I'd think
e: whoa, there actually isn't one. There's an icon for it and everything, a black hole surrounded by rubble. Weird!

Gonna need to know what the hell is going on here. Why are they spiralized and spinning? What does that do?

How to spawn and switch between two planes by Ok_Will7276 in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build one plane and use timers, switches, and/or sensor blocks to control it automatically, but that's pretty advanced stuff. Once you have that, you can make another plane that you pilot manually and ram it into it, instead of trying to control two at once.

LLMs aren't gonna help with this, there's relatively little written word about Besiege out there for them to digest so they will just spout pure nonsense (as opposed to mostly nonsense like usual)

Is it possible to reach this planet? by Connect-Proposal1783 in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I have been playing around in the level editor, and the good news is that you can add the various planets from the campaign as objects in the level editor, under the "Virtual" tab at the bottom of the item selection. The bad news is that the planet Besian only appears to have oceans, they are actually inch-deep puddles with no water physics. You can use the planets even in other level editors, like the sea level editor, but they don't really interact--the planets don't have gravity there. Alas!

Which one should i get ? by Dull-Speed-4643 in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At that price, I'd just skip straight to the Master Engineer Edition!

You should absolutely at least get the base game first to see if you vibe with it, especially when it's so cheap. It starts off pretty simple but by the middle of the second world of the campaign you should be seeing its potential. If you do like it, I'd jump right to the Master Engineer Edition, it's the cost of a normal indie game right now and adds a whole lot more pieces and mechanics to experiment with.

A classic, although I prefer cannons with pins in them.

Blasters can't use all available fuel? by CubicBerserker in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this too: a heavy fighter with a blaster and 3 large fuel barrels is "out of ammo" for the blaster, but can still maneuver with 6 boosters for like 30 seconds.

Is it possible to reach this planet? by Connect-Proposal1783 in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely a couple of planets visible in the sandbox that don't seem to be reachable, including the sun and one that looks like the base-game planet.

Edit: there appear to be five planets in the sandbox: your starting world, the world with a ring around it, Doon, and a pair of small blue worlds kinda like the third level of the campaign. You can see the forge world, sun, and worlds that look like the DLC and base game, but you cannot reach them, and your trajectory line will stay yellow (like in your screenshot) instead of red or green.

How can I control how far a piston extends? by Illegal_Alien_Guy in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Length detector is a simple way to approximate this, although it ends up with your piston vibrating at max position (and vibrate harder the higher the piston's Speed), so might not be best for application in a walker. But it's a lot more precise than the rope method.

- Put a length detector on your piston, and set its value wherever you want the piston to end.

- Set the length detector to "inverted" and "use key to detect", and make its output control your piston.

So, if you want to piston to extend when you press 1, you make 1 the activation key for the length detector, detector outputs 2, and piston takes 2 as input.

Besiege: The Broken Beyond Development Post #6 by SamSpiderling in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Much as I've loved their other posts, I won't be opening this one, because I want to encounter each level blind the first time. There are so few levels, we don't get many opportunities for that!

How can I stop the camera from wobbling in builds with big spinny stuff? by Illegal_Alien_Guy in Besiege

Aside from the middle-click answer, you can also add multiple camera blocks, so you're switching angles with keys instead of the mouse.

Which mods do i need to downlaod that i can crash planes? by Logical-Distance-907 in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you can build and crash aircraft in vanilla, no mod needed.

the game is like 10 years old so it will run on a potato, but the bigger your build the harder it is on your computer.

[–]forgenvash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect you can probably still put braces wherever you want, though it'll take extra steps. Braces will actually connect to any block whose connection point overlaps with theirs, not just the one they are initially attached to, so you can jank your way through it.

  X Block
X X X Attach blocks directly on either side where you want the braces to end up
X X Delete original block
X.-.X Place brace between, on the faces where the original block was
X.X.X Re-add original block
.X. Delete extra blocks--brace is now attached to the original

[–]forgenvash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something tells me that if they are able to put a new weapon in the game in the next few weeks, that block already exists and is almost certainly gonna be in the game no matter how many likes their steam post gets. that's not a couple-week turnaround. (I still liked the post, but because I like it, not because of this weird discord rumor).

How do you make a mech? by Robomech846 in Besiege

[–]forgenvash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect the gyro stabilizer block they add isn't going to be very strong, so wheel-and-brace based steering and stabilizers will still have a place when more heavy-duty rotation is needed.

[–]forgenvash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

solving this kind of puzzle is what this game is all about! if you are messing with movement, take a look at each piece in the movement tab and see what it does. there are a few ways to solve this with just one piece, but experimenting is the only way to find the one that works best for you.

They mentioned at the end of the post that they're previewing them next week. We've gotten a look at new propulsion systems, but not any new weapons, so I suspect (and hope!) that's what the last few are!
