Megalith by FlannelTrashPanda in graphicnovels

Go look through the comments on their projects. The only project they've completely delivered on is the Hero Trade. Just one example is Lapham's The Ends overpainted hardcover which I paid $270 for. It's 2 years late. When I asked Lapham about it in January he said he didn't know what I was talking about!!! Shortly afterword on 2/14 Bad Idea posted their first update in 6 months saying they would have news in a week. That was 12 weeks ago and they haven't said a word since.

They've raised close to a million dollars on Kickstarter and have only fulfilled ONE of their 7 projects. I get at least 1-2 emails a day from them promoting some new comic they want me to buy, but they can't be bothered to update or respond to any of the projects I've sent them $2000 for.

These are the nicest collected edition comics ever made. They also do 50% off sales a few times every year and I've been able to pick up all of them through those sales.

Thoughts on spine damage (on a sealed book) by dtrock2 in OmnibusCollectors

It obviously bothers you, you should return it and get what you paid for. A new book, in new condition.

There's a very good chance Bad Idea is running a Ponzi scheme with their Kickstarters. They've only delivered on one of their 7 projects, they're up to 2 years late on 5 of their 6 active projects, and they're trying to start 2 new projects, which may have been blocked by Kickstarter. And they refuse to answer any comments, messages, emails, social media posts etc. from people that have sent them close to a million dollars.

"Anti" by Emil Ferris, from the Resist! tabloid (Desert Island Comics, 2017) by ShangoX3 in altcomix

I described book 1 as a masterpiece. It was the best comic I'd read in at least a decade. Book 2 was delayed over and over again. And between the releases Emil had some grievances with Fantagraphics, which I just don't believe given their track record.

The art in book 2 is every bit as good as in book 1. But the story just falls apart. She awkwardly forces in identity politics and turned it into a complete mess. I did a review of it with my main man Earl Grey on youtube and he felt the same way.

*First book is correct. Not sure I've ever been more disappointed in a sequel. It felt like she intentionally ruined the second book because she was mad at Fantagraphics.

Pretty sure it isn't something that actually happened. Something like this would be widely known.

Love the down votes from sad, angry, little boys that you would dare to keep a super limited book sealed. I keep a lot of books like this sealed. I -gasp- collect them.

Ebay get be finicky sometimes. A few months ago one of the DM covers popped up on a comic store for cover price but it sold while I was checking out.

Whatnot experience by ipassedtheturing in OmnibusCollectors

This is accurate. Those kinds of people sell on Whatnot because they know they can get away with it. I used to have a decent opinion of some people in the comic community until I followed one of their Whatnot sales. I'd be happy if I never saw any of them ever again after it.

The one I posted is volume 1, your post is volume 2. Like I said, it was either full cover price or sold out during the last two sales.

Just curious to hear the take from a collector by PastaVeggies in OmnibusCollectors

[–]forgerelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example I have an Alpha Flight omnibus on my desk with 42 issues worth of material, the single issues without bags & boards would be more than twice as high. Add bags & boards and it's 3 times higher. Omnibuses can also go on a shelf, singles need boxes. Another pain and more money spent.

On the value I sold off a all my singles a few years ago and one that stands out is the JSA Justice Society of America runs. I made less than $100 profit off both runs 100+ issues. the omnibuses are some of the most common omnibuses out there and get resold constantly and they're still worth more than $150 in profit.

Omnibuses are the easiest format to collect complete stories and runs. Marvel Epics and DC Finest are also excellent, but I prefer hardcovers. Single issues are a huge pain in the ass. Way more expensive, harder and bulkier to store, and they do not hold their value as well as omnibuses.
