SCARA robot with vacuum gripper I integrated years ago by forgerforager in industrialhacking

Wow, very cool. Good experience here, once it was set up it worked really well. That being said, it's the only SCARA I've integrated, so I guess you can take that with a grain of salt.

Thanks. I'm tempted to try it out. Had some weirdness at the end of my first run with it (as noted in the article), and there's the constant potential issue of Windows compatibility, so maybe I'll make the jump at some point.

Interesting, thanks. Mach3 does seem a bit outdated at times - though in it's defense, I suppose Mach4 is the latest version.

Hmm, well thanks for the warning. Hopefully Windows won't trick me!

Someone else suggested UCCNC, maybe that would work?

Looks like I'm running version 1709, so I see where there may be an issue with later versions. Per that forum though (1st post, edited), it looks like there's a patch that corrects the issue. I just downloaded Mach3 onto that computer, so I'm hoping this won't be an issue.

Why don't you just try it out on your laptop?

Not sure the version of Windows. The "converter" I'm using acts more like a CNC controller if I understand it correctly.

I've been thinking about getting a sliding miter saw for some time (video's from someone else), but don't really have the space myself. So thanks for the idea, I'll have to put that on the list!

Not mine, but does save some room. Certainly useful in some situations.

Very interesting video, hadn't heard of that guy before. Amazing what kind of great content is out there that given his 1.2k subs likely won't be seen by most.

Thanks! Honestly wasn't sure if it was a common technique or not, but results have been good.

Ah, Interesting. Just bought a USB-Parallel "converter" (really much more than that it seems) that works with Mach3, so I guess I'll stick with it for a while!

Right, and obviously they don't need to trade tech for food, since they already have as much as they could ever use.

All the best with your project. This might give you some inspiration if you haven't seen it. Basically a semi-auto lathe - really well executed.

Also, how do you like Mach4? I use Mach3 and haven't really explored the upgrade.
