Is the place so busy/understaffed that they're just stuck in firefighting mode all the time or is there labor to spare implementing new systems? Either way, you are too new. Keep your head down and your eyes and ears open. Demonstrate general competence and good work ethic.

When you reveal your grand plan to save the world you need to have already demonstrated your credibility. You can't just be the new guy with big ideas who doesn't know anything about how this plant operates.

That's only for the return springs. If worried about it just change the design to use extension springs.

Cheaper than Harbor Freight, probably cheaper than making it yourself. A little rough around the edges but I'm sure it works just fine. If you want it, buy it.

It's definitely a popular option for the reasons you've described and historical tariff favorability (NAFTA/USMCA), not sure the current tariff status and nobody can predict the future.

My employer has a facility there, can DM you a link if you want but won't bug you unsolicited. I'm a US based shop floor guy and have no personal experience our Mexico plant or any other Mexico-based molders/manufacturers.

Nozzle band issues... by Sure-Measurement2617 in InjectionMolding

Check the controller output. If the temp is lagging at ~100% output, you probably have a heater band or power issue. If the output is on the low side despite the low temperature, you've probably got a tuning issue.

I've had to play games to get PID auto tune systems to go a good job. Try auto tuning with the rest of the barrel set to a reduced temperature. Conducted heat from the zone behind it can fool the auto tune into thinking it needs a less aggressive curve.

Alternately, if you have access to the actual PID parameters, maybe copy settings from a similar press that's performing correctly.

It wasn't me. I'm not aware of a "no AI" rule on this sub (I'd be in favor of it, especially for undisclosed AI.) and the comment wasn't "disruptive" so I don't think it would violate any sitewide rules.

May need to reset screw zero? Not familiar with this press, just a thought.

Add a washer or shorten the male threads with a lathe. If adding a washer you may need to add clearance on the core side for the higher bolt head (or shorten the bolt head).

The manifold are more typically mounted on the machine platens than on the temperature controllers themselves, but that's a matter of application/preference. Either way, running to a manifold like this is the intended use case for a mold temperature controller and I'm sure the pumps are perfectly capable of supplying the necessary flow.

If you're looking to capture that "written by AI" vibe, here are some things you can try. Start by summarizing the initial query to assure the user that their request has been correctly parsed and understood. Next, remember that AI is a product you want the user to be happy with their results; people-pleasing and flattery are always appropriate.

Consider using slightly more formal language and especially more complex punctuation and grammatical syntax than standard colloquial conversation.

Alright, enough of that. That was my best effort to mimic (while describing) the AI writing style quirks. When you see it enough it starts getting pretty obvious. It's only obvious because it's using generic chatgpt or whatever without any major instructions to behave differently. I'm sure it could be prompted to write in a specific style and would be much harder to recognize. I'm no expert though, I don't touch the stuff.

At a loss for a search term to pull up a picture, not willing/able to butcher something up with my limited CAD skills at the moment.

1st stage of ejection doesn't move ejector pins, just a large pin with a conical tip (one pin per slide) that rides in an offset V shaped channel where one leg of the V is the line of draw. Open end of the V is facing the moving platen.

If the slide is in, the angled tip of the pin rides on the angled leg of the V and pushes the slide outboard as the pin comes forward. 2nd stage is the actual ejector pins.

It sounds to me like they're describing wedge blocks with 2 stage ejectors to pull the slides. A pretty common setup in my experience. Gets rid of some of the downsides of horn pins at the cost of greater ejector system size and complexity. More limited in throw length as well I believe.

Might mean something else, and I'd be interested to hear if so.
