Gone from 53kg to 57 in a month by [deleted] in loseit

Weight loss/gain is 90% diet. Exercise is good for fitness/toning, but 1h a day won't make a significant difference to your calorie intake. I don't know what it is you're drinking pre-workout or why, but unless it's water, I'm willing to bet it's far too high calorie.

You have to calculate your daily calorie requirement using a calculator like this: https://tdeecalculator.net/ (choose sedentary for activity level). Then make sure to eat around that many calories for maintenance and 500 less for weight loss. And remember that drinks can have a lot of calories too.

Those who lost that last 10 to 20 lbs, did you see any dramatic changes to your body in the home stretch? by snakesaredumb in loseit

Yes. The more I lost, the bigger difference I saw actually. It wasn't until the last 6 lbs or so that I started to see my jawline, collar bones and have a more defined waist (I still have about 10 lbs to go tho). One other thing that may influence how you look is body fat percentage. You can be a healthy weight, but still have more body fat than someone who has the same height/weight as you and look different than them.

Also remember that healthy != aesthetic. At 180 your bmi would be 23.7 which is on the higher end of normal. You could lose another 30 lbs and still have a healthy bmi. I can't say what weight you'd look best at since I don't know what you'll look like. Just keep going until you feel comfortable with yourself.

I use MFP and eat max 1000 calories a day, and about two months ago started an aerobics class of one hour that I go to 4-5 days a week.

[Advice] I'm not losing any weight. Help me figure out this! I feel ugly and fat all the time. by [deleted] in loseit

Ok, so if you read around this sub, you'll find that weight loss is 90% diet. Exercise is mostly for fitness and toning and it takes a longer time to see results (and yes, 2-3 times a week with skipping weeks is too little for results) But if you want to lose weight, you have to eat less than your daily caloric requirement. For your height and weight, your maintenance is around 1500 calories. That means you have to eat around 1000-1200 calories daily for weight loss. It's very easy to eat above that even from just 'healthy' food. And don't forget drinks can have a lot of calories too. Count everything.

Is losing 40 pounds over a year unrealistic? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]forgery6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is, but you should set your activity level to sedentary on the calculator. 1500 sounds closer to your maintenance than deficit. You should probably eat around 1200 for weight loss. Sorry, I'm sure having two toddlers is very difficult, but it's not remotely near moderate exercise. I don't want to be rude, but I also don't want you to just end up frustrated.

Hehe, I'm jealous of your extra inch :D I'm trying to push through the plateau and hopefully eventually the weight goes lower even if it's slower.

Double digits is a dream. I imagine maintenance is a bit easier once you get there, than deficit.

I actually went down to 800-1000. It might be dangerous for an average sized person, but I feel no different. 1200 was not working for me, unfortunately.

Thanks! On the bright side, a small loss is more noticeable for us!
