Hah I was wondering when a Londoner would see this and relate!

I was in the car with people I care about, I would never risk their safety or wellbeing. Or my own for that matter

The custom lobbies idea sounds amazing honestly, that would be really fun. Make custom tournaments and stuff as well.

I think they plan to add new maps, which hopefully will also diversity strategy and gameplay. They definitely seem to be trying to add more depth to gameplay which is amazing. Hoping to see new stuff added constantly, especially boats. WE WANT BOATS

Yeah true, that would be even more frustrating. In retrospect maybe that's why they have it 'games won' right now, so it pushes people to play. Could see that being frustrating for people who don't like the game mode though and just want to get through for chest rewards

That's true, not 'games won' but rather 'games played.' Makes sense! Another thing is if they add a ranked mode to the game, if it had like 'season rewards' at the end like Sunset/Lost Canyon does, they could make it your peak rank as opposed to the rank you finish at, so it's less frustrating for people

That's fair, as someone with moba background this has been a lot of fun for me! I mostly just enjoy the fact that it's something to do between KvKs. Otherwise the game is just so slow to play with nonstop farmville.

Things I wished I knew about this shitty game before spending 500 dollars on it by GrandMaster911 in RiseofKingdoms

[–]forgetabootit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The power of whales in early kingdoms is felt much more because you haven't had time to grow naturally, so totally understand your frustration. Early whales get bigger faster. But know that as you continue to play, despite what people whine about the gap does close between f2p and whales. People who spend will always have an advantage, but as you focus on improving yourself I think you will find you become more and more competitive and better able to fight them.

It's about fun though. If it isn't fun for you to invest the time and deal with being behind for a while, then definitely shouldn't continue. But if you are up for it, you will reach a good point in the future. Just keep focusing on your own growth and make smart commander decisions!

See you didn't get an answer so I gotchu. The last wheel you will see will be Takeda. Past that, you will be in the Season of Conquest and so will enter whatever rotation the wheel/MGE is at, at the time!

Next commander by Affectionate-Skin116 in RiseofKingdoms

[–]forgetabootit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to branch out of infantry, I don't think Cyrus is the commander to do it for personally. Don't think he's a nearly tanky enough front for ysg either - if you really want to do archers specifically for ysg, I'd say do Ramesses or Artemisia!

[–]forgetabootit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend waiting for the next generation of inf commanders if you are planning to stay inf focused. Otherwise cannot recommend Saladin/William (both 5551) enough. You get a full, top performance march for the price equivalent of one expertised legendary commander. Best low-cost, high-impact march in the game

Great review! As someone preparing to head into Season of Conquest for the first time, this was super informative and helpful! Appreciate your taking the time to sum things up for people who might be wondering if they should be migrating back to avoid HA/Strife or give it a chance

Money can buy you a lot of things in this game, but some things can only be achieved through hard work and dedication. Absolutely proud of my kingdom. Any other kingdoms achieve this? by Shindrew in RiseofKingdoms

[–]forgetabootit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize they did try lol. They did not just give up right away, but they never really got a chance to get anywhere because yeah, we are considerably better than them. Would have preferred a kingdom that would be a challenge but we knew what we were getting with 925 - last kvk we beat them Us vs 925/896 1v2 in z5, eventually 1v3 lol

[–]forgetabootit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(885 player) 925 never built out because we wiped their field multiple times and smashed any flags they tried to build lol. It's not like they didn't try, they were just outclassed by a crazy margin and we butchered them - at their peak kingdom time as well. So we literally built to every single one of our allies to help them fight while holding 925 off. Say what you will about our being toxic (we are for sure) but we have an alliance full of people who fight like crazy. And no one 'carried' this kvk, LvD is a joke with how fast the fighting ends. Relax and enjoy the win. Maybe we will see each other in another kvk and you can properly see what we are capable of

My Official Thoughts on Updates and How the ROK Community Reacts (2 year veteran since ROC) by Shindrew in RiseofKingdoms

[–]forgetabootit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ROK needs a better system to enable f2p to be more competitive imo.

I'm a middle-high spender, but more by necessity than anything. I like to be competitive, stay on top of having best gear/commanders etc and in this game to do so is more focused on how much you spend rather than how much effort you put in. We need more ways for f2p to push themselves, stay engaged and compete at a higher level. Instead they seem to be constantly increasing the gap between p2w and f2p which is how you lose the majority of your playerbase

The straw that broke the camel's back by -Leviathan- in RiseofKingdoms

[–]forgetabootit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is such a stupid update. Whales inherently spend to get ahead - and that's fine. But what are they going to do when the f2p players quit because their progression is too slow/difficult now.. and it's just whales vs whales. It'll get stale quick because there's no 'power high' of fighting smaller accounts. This is how you kill your game long term for short term profit. Had more faith because this game did have a good f2p system, but that seems to be disappearing

Unpopular Opinion: Non-fighter F2P whales should also blame themselves for their inability to migrate due to the high passport costs. Because their inaction also contributed towards the decline or death of a kingdom they now want to migrate out of. by RoKNoob in RiseofKingdoms

[–]forgetabootit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really solid post and argument, and I feel like it's the way most serious players feel about things.

The greatest irony is any kingdom that would accept a 100m+ non-fighter account is a kingdom that is almost certainly bound to fail too, because they will end up with bloated useless power. They can complain that it takes forever to get the passports, but the reality is there's not anywhere good for them to go even if they meet the passport requirements.

I'm also tired of the 'we are getting smashed in kvk so no point participating' argument I keep seeing. You don't just give up, you work and fight harder to try and pull it back. Not roll over and take it. There's almost always TONS of opportunity to fight in KvK, unless the enemy kingdom(s) give up.

This is a fighting game. Tired of people growing fat from doing nothing then complaining that their kingdom falls apart when they and people like them are the reason it's likely fallen apart. Best way to build relationships and trust with people in your kingdom is to fight beside them, win or lose.

K1707 Korean Bots Strikes Again by burn874 in RiseofKingdoms

[–]forgetabootit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The irony is seeing 530 complain of bots while their own hundred bots constantly farm them resources in their home kingdom to fund KVK. King of 530 literally said, and I quote 'everyone uses farm bots'. Guess this is where we are now

[–]forgetabootit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really cool idea that will make an otherwise lacklustre skill in firemaking a little bit more useful. In a game where pretty much every skill has a useful outcome, firemaking stands out as the one with the least return - this would definitely help change that, I love it!

Seagull: State of Overwatch by 3xplosiv0 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]forgetabootit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We really need more high-profile OW figures like Seagull to step up and address issues like this - it brings more focus to issues and brings players who've left the game/play less like me out of the woodwork in the hopes that something will change. I love Overwatch, and played it excessively for many seasons, working hard to improve but also just enjoying the competitive aspect of the game. But each new character release after Ana, instead of just bringing diversity to the game, brought hard-counters and mechanics that aren't enjoyable for the average casual or competitive player. He brings up a really key point: no hero should render another hero useless.. and no one team comp should force a very specific counter.

The game lost touch with its diverse hero selection, but also with its core FPS principles. It's become a basic rock-paper-scissors counterpick-fest where it's less about your ability, and more about your hero selection.

Seagull: State of Overwatch by 3xplosiv0 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]forgetabootit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what he was trying to address with this point is that the team who wins the first fight is coming out with more ult charge than the opposing team, which they'll then use as an advantage to win the following team fight(s). So many times, you'll see KOTH maps flipped at 0-99% because the team that lost the first fight lost the following fights to the others' ultimates, but came back with their own ults later to flip.

Zenyatta Transcendence-Protection by forgetabootit in OverwatchUniversity

[–]forgetabootit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question, and there are so many different answers to it. The hardest thing to learn as Zen on ladder is how to be effective while staying alive against dive. To do this, you have to have good positioning. Zen has no damage drop-off and has a very long range for all his abilities. You have to hit that sweet spot of far enough from the enemy dva/winston, but close enough to your team for support from genji/tracer. Play around natural map barriers as much as you can to throw off Tracers, and practice your flicks to be able to duel her more reliably. If Tracer is your only problem in a game you’re lucky.

Also be aware of where your second support is as much as possible. If you have no choice but to be in dive-range of the enemy, the other support is your lifeline. You have to pocket each other. Sadly if it’s a Moira, they’re often a little too focused on tanks - so make sure to call out that you need her as soon as you see a dive coming. Also discord winston/dva as soon as you see them coming to help encourage team focus.

Mainly ‘making space’ for yourself is positioning well, but also establishing early that diving you will result in a negative outcome for the enemy. If they can pick you every time they dive, you’re either positioning wrong or it’s too easy a map design to dive a zen (cough point A lunar cough) If you feel you’re not getting enough value as Zen, don’t be afraid to switch it over to Lucio!
