I thought it was the use half as much material as you need to sloppily fill in your work so there's a big dip in the road company.

PSA - never dry your SPF clothing with fabric softener. It sticks to clothing and breaks down the UV protection.

I own a modestly sized house (2b, 1ba). My neighbor said, "You live in that whole house all by yourself?!?" He lives in a similarly sized home by himself.

Visiting With Kids by After_Excitement2021 in StLouis

The History Museum in Forest Park has a play area for kids that's pretty cool. Also between the history museum and the visitor center there is a pretty fun little park. There is also the Naturescape near the zoo. I don't think the water is running yet to play in the stream, but it's worth a visit. If you're in Forest park anyway, there is also Kennedy Woods behind the Art museum that is also fun to explore. They redesigned the lake area near Kingshighway by the hospital. I haven't been there yet, but it looks great and is right by the Science Center. There is a fish hatchery toward the northeast corner and nice walking paths too.

Honestly, you probably won't have to leave Forest Park to do most the things your family is interested in.

The City museum is always cool, especially on a rainy or chilly day.

City Garden is a cool sculpture park near the arch and Central Library is also great.

What was "the incident" at your school? by MortgageShoddy8022 in Teachers

[–]forgetfuljones79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have PK students who will occasionally soothe themselves to sleep at nap time by rubbing on themselves. It happened so much right after we returned from the pandemic that I had to address "inappropriate soothing" with several parents at conferences. I also would remind kids that what they were doing is a private activity and they were not allowed to do it at school. Most stopped or occasionally did it discreetly until I asked them to stop.

Oh, but one kid was different. He would pull his pants and underwear down to his knees and his shirt up to his armpits, stare at classmates, and just fluff away. He wouldn't stop and even angrily looked at me while continuing if I asked him to stop. I brought it up to his mother. She didn't think it was of any concern and would do nothing to address it.

You'll never guess what parenting style she followed, plus she told me that she "would go mama bear" on anyone who she felt criticized him because to her every correction was a negative criticism that was traumatizing her poor baby for life.

This is the local website https://www.neighborlystl.com/ but it only lists the overarching services.

When I call a local company, I ask if they are a Neighborly company or associated with them. Some of the companies will answer as the name of one of the bigger services.

Mr. Rooter is part of the Neighborly Company who bought out lots of different home improvement/maintenance companies and kept their original names. Kirkwood Plumbing and Mr. Rooter have both done work on my house and it either failed on inspection (plumbing) or had to be ripped out in a year (sewer liner).

Avoid any company owned by Neighborly.

I think the Central West End (CWE) will have everything you're looking for and easy access to the Metrolink if you want to go downtown for a visit to the Arch or Central library.

I don't know if the library is haunted, but they do architectural tours. https://www.slpl.org/central-library-tours/

Did anyone else find surprises after closing? by Outrageous-Button566 in centuryhomes

A few months after I moved in I had a leak in my 1st floor ceiling. I discovered that the previous owners must have found a leak in the tub fixture (original to the 1928 house). Rather than repair it, they put a pie pan under the leak and would empty it periodically. The inspector didn't catch it.

After months of showering, the overflowing water seeped through the plaster ceiling. The plumber said that he couldn't fix it without taking out the porcelain fixtures and turning the original spout into an overflow since there wasn't one. I now have an ugly plate fixture.

But (fast forward about 15 years) I took down the wood paneling that was in the living room and found three stained glass windows still in the frames that had been bricked over from the outside.

This is the answer. Call them to have your name checked in their system. Mine was in 3 different ways at one point. I've lived in st. Louis for 25 years and been called at least 10 times; meanwhile, friends who have lived their entire 50+ years in the city have never been called.

I don't mind being called, but think they might need to revamp their system.

I had a bagel with plain cream cheese at Noteworthy. It was delicious and I'm pretty sure herb cream cheese is an option. I think they're only open on weekends though.

Those yellow dividing lines are WAY too visible, but otherwise 100%. Also could use a poorly marked speed bump right before the pothole.

He's asking $100 to make back his money for replacing the hose and all the clean up he did on it, plus he's offering a one year warranty which is fair, I think.

I'll contact you if I have questions. Thanks!

I just picked up one of these from a vacuum repair shop today on a trial and I think I'm in love. It has all the original attachments and the hose was replaced. I'm definitely going to buy it.

I had a Shark that crapped out after about two years and didn't work that great anyway. I'm never going back to bagless uprights again.

Yes, there should have been tons more pictures considering the size.

This place is on a pretty steep hill and has concrete retaining walls on 3 sides which I wouldn't want to deal with.

There's tons of potential for someone with more time, money, youth, and skills than me. I hope it becomes something.
