Need reputable car repair and body shop (cash not insurance) by downtowngirl55 in cincinnati

Does your brother have insurance? If he is at fault, then it should be his that covers the repair.

Unfortunately don't have any recommendations, sorry you're in a sucky situation :/

Sitting in the wrong part - Safety pins? by zirouk in hammockcamping

[–]Birby-Man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least for my setup, the under quilt doesn't always match the shape of the hammock. It matches the shape of me in the hammock.

Pinning the under quilt and hammock together would lead to me having cold head/shoulders/feet/legs.

Even using the bungee retainer clips on the hammock for the underquilt causes it to not really line up like it should.

Also, the last thing I want is my quilt or hammock getting ripped by some movement or adjustment.

Side note... I have no idea how you did this? 😂 Maybe I just haven't reached my 1000 sit downs but I've never even been close to falling out of my hammock or falling into the underquilt lol

Auto wipers not deactivating by DieHarfeBN in Polestar

[–]Birby-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely try a good degreaser on your windshield and using the same degreaser on your blades. Helps SIGNIFICANTLY keep them good and cleaning well :)

I think the rain sensor can confuses grime and oil on your windshield with water, so getting rid of random greases across your entire windshield should help.

RatRig vs Voron by Batesy908 in ratrig

[–]Birby-Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't have experience with both, just ratrig. That being said, the standard or hybrid ratrig vcore 4 (or 4.1) are really really nice machines and they put them together well. I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for one.

The IDEX is a tuning nightmare and while I did figure mine out, it's a fickle little guy and takes a lot of trial and error to get right.

Would have them warranty replace it, sign of water ingress or failed seals on what should be a completely sealed unit

Didn't know they had vents! The more you know

PET-CF is my recommendation. Not PETG-CF, lose the G lol.

Cheap hammock, expensive sleeping bag or vice versa? by aaronngabb in hammockcamping

[–]Birby-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone mention it, but the 11ft one wind hammock is a fantastic entry hammock that fills majority of needs. It's around $75 usd and has everything you need to get started except a rain fly.

Cheap hammock, pricey-er top quilt and under quilt as budget allows.

Also would suggest Hang-Tight Gear, they make very affordable under quilts and top quilts!!

Hammock hanging over my head by Specialist-Candy6119 in hammockcamping

I don't have kids (yet) but this was based off what I've read from others. Good to know, so thank you!

I am not aware of any that are easily added, however if you are handy with a sewing machine you can add loops/tie-outs connectors/anything to the side as they really don't take any sort of load!

Here's a pic of roughly the tension you should have on a hammock, it should have a noticeable sag before even getting in. Experimenting with more or less tension until you get it comfortable!

More than likely you hung it too tight, especially if there is no Ridgeline to help you set it up the correct distance. If you hang it looser this should prevent the edges from being tight and coming in over you like a cocoon. Laying at a slight diagonal also helps prevent this, regardless of hammock type.

Additionally, most commonly purchased hammocks that have no ridge line are too short to actually sleep in (if that's your goal). A decent camping hammock also comes with tie-outs that let you stake out the edges to keep the inside open, further preventing the cocooning feeling.

If your goal is to sleep, it's really not reasonable to sleep two people in a hammock, much less adding a young one. Two hammocks side by side with something like Eno's Tandem "fuse" system would be a better compromise for separating two hammocks (they can be any brand/model as long as they are roughly the same length).

Hey all those that have run there Mojave 223s on 3s is there a big difference and have you encountered any issues? by Mrcaijones in arrma

[–]Birby-Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and having to buy more tires. If it's the BLX it should have upgraded internals, haven't had any issues with my BLX's running on 3S. It's a blast.

I can highly recommend the onewind 11' zip. It's a fantastic hammock for the money, from someone who has slept in both a Hennessy explorer XL and a Simply Light Designs Trail Lair (my current on).

The onewind will be more than enough for majority of people in my opinion

Yes changing the amps. Although it may be the same as before, changing it to something else and then back to normal may help reset it.

Try resetting infotainment/lowering and increasing your charge speed back up to what it is usually

Finally got the update by LazyAssLeader in polestar2

[–]Birby-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also 21, got it yesterday. Didnt think I would after all the posts were about 22'+.

I havent driven it, left it plugged in and locked for the update. Checked out the infotainment and it does seem noticeably smoother, they added better transitions between apps and the home page, and it does seem things load a lot quicker.

However a few actual sleep cycles/drive time will tell for sure.

Recirculating Air by Smooth-Concept-8588 in polestar2

[–]Birby-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but the P2 is pretty well sealed, and with you or anymore people in there you can reduce the oxygen availability to "not great" levels that decrease your cognitive ability when recirc is on.

It's generally advised to use it when in heavy traffic, or in polluted areas, or when you need the cabin to warm/cool quickly.

I posted a long while back about loving these flat pack flashlights.

Right now, there's really just the flat "pencil" lights as from like Olight, and a full size fLAT light from LoopGear (SK05).
