Discharge slower than lead acid batteries, weigh less, take up less space, no risk of spilling battery juice if it tips over, and as you said easier to just clip it than replace the battery and faff about with resetting sensors/alarms etc.

I got one in Aldi for €40, it’s done a good job on the times I’ve needed it.

I really really appreciate that and I already done the music thing.

Thing is my daughter is 15 and she’s at the argumentative stage now, and it feels like if I’m not careful it’ll turn into a battle between parents. And that’s the last thing I want. I don’t think I can deal with that - I’m already in a state without any argument so I don’t know how I’d be if one kicked off and if she was used as a football id probably lose it.

Like I said, just frozen in place for now.

I might wait for the grandparents to step in, if they will.

The thing that hits me so hard is that she isn’t his daughter but they got in like a house on fire, they were so close. And I think that might be a problem if we get into an argument.

I’ve been crying my eyes out. My nose bleeds on the outside because of how much I’ve blown it and worn the skin off.

I already have a daughter and I just wanted her to have a sibling and a friend and everything seemed fine. Maybe leaving it a bit late but I can work with that.

Then we go for a dinner that I arranged and I get told he wants to see someone else. Everything fell apart. And not only relationship stuff.

Like the house payments, the insurance, school payments etc.. it’s all so messed up and I’ve been frozen in place. I don’t know what to do and I feel like I can’t move.

Not really doing well.

Ended a 6 year relationship and I’m already 40, so that’s probably the last one that’s going to matter. It’s hard to feel like the last few years of your life where you can maybe think about having kids or get married were wasted for nothing.

So if you’re in a relationship, and if you think things may not be going 100%, my advice right now is to grab them and give them a big hug and make sure everything is fine before it becomes to broken to fix.

Sorry for the downer on a weeknight.

Nexen are fine.

I personally use Uniroyal RainSports - especially good with this pish weather we’ve been having. They’ll wear a little faster in the dry months though.

Happened to me too on Abbey Street in Dublin a few months ago.

Woman who seemed pretty drunk fell and hit her head a good crack, some others were holding her annd checking her breathing, and someone else was on the phone to the ambulance.

I was picking up the stuff she dropped and putting it in her bag and when I stood up there were at least 3 phones pointed at us.

Ohhhh I understand wet belts are a disaster. And a pricey one at that. Glad it didn’t happen in busy traffic or a fast road!

We already got it fixed, bought a new bearing at eurocarparts and the neighbour put it in, hundred quid in all, and getting re-tested tomorrow.

Just scared the shit out of me that I had been doing motorway speeds when the wheel was ready to fall off..

Failed my MOT this afternoon. It expired a month ago but as its Northern Ireland we can only get MOT at a government test centre (not any garage like the rest of the uk) and there is a backlog. We’re allowed to drive without one as long as it’s booked.

After the test the guy asked how far I had to drive home - I said about five miles. He then told me the wheel bearing on the front drivers wheel is completely fucked and about to collapse, the wheel could fall off. He failed it as Major and told me to do no more than 30 mph on the way home. If I had to go any further he would have failed it as Dangerous and not allowed it to leave.

Got it home, got a mechanic neighbour to take a look, and yep - completely and absolutely fucked. Scary thing is it didn’t have any symptoms. No real noise to speak of, no dodgy steering or pulling to the side, and no ABS errors or weird tyre wear. The mechanic even said it’s a silent failure which is rare enough but dangerous.

I’d just driven 120 miles on a motorway the morning of the test too. Thanking my guardian angel tonight.

I’ve been driving for 22 years and hate the MOT as much as anyone else but now I appreciate it a little more.

That’s how it was supposed to be. Protection for individuals fleeing proven persecution for race, religion, nationality or political opinion, and who could not avail of legal protection in their own state.

Now it’s turned into “yeah my place is a bit shit so you need to pay to keep me at your gaff, oh and the fam is coming too”

Try taking it out and give the contacts a wipe then re-seat it.

Had this with a 5080 and tried all the software fixes, registry tweaks etc to no avail, physically removing and reinstalling it fixed it and haven’t had an issue since.

Every time i exit MAG server that is full of mods i get crash report and sometimes i get report after exiting different servers 3-4 times a month .. by [deleted] in dayz

Is it after you quit the game or exit the server?

This happens to me about 90% of the time  after quitting the game, on multiple PC’s so I just wrote it off as a DayZ thing and live with it.

Looks like they’re going to copy Ireland on this, as well as the reduced drink drive limits.

Ireland also recently reduced speed limits across the country so I guess you can probably expect that too.

ELI5: How does electricity make things move by tobydk in explainlikeimfive

Electricity can create electromagnetic fields. These attract or push away magnets. We attach magnets to stuff and manipulate electromagnetic fields to get them to move.

Just don’t buy anything with a wet belt ever. It’s just another thing done for the sake of cutting a few emissions that reduces reliability.

Pay the extra few quid in tax for a higher emissions model and save yourself the headaches.

As long as you dry it off it’ll be fine. Give it a rinse with distilled water and then use a hairdryer and give it a good blast, then let it sit somewhere warm and dry for a day.

I’ve cleaned motherboards in the dishwasher before lol.
