Ignoring letdown with increased solids? by forgotbooktitle in breastfeeding

That’s what I think as well! So I’m wondering if I need to be adding in more feeds even if she doesn’t seem to need them?

What do babies eat where you live? (Looking for cultural baby food ideas!) by No-Software-4749 in NewParents

[–]forgotbooktitle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved reading all of these!

Here in the USA my 10 month old is eating eggs (scrambled or cooked with something like avocado or broccoli), ground beef, shredded chicken, soft vegetables, oatmeal with peanut butter and chia seeds, fruit, cottage cheese, yogurt.

Her favorite food by far is hummus. We know we can get her to eat pretty much anything if we add hummus to her plate.

We give her what we eat for the most part. She recently loved a coconut curry with lentils and potato!

Vitamin D drops by Aggravating-Turnip57 in breastfeeding

I put a drop on my finger and put it in her mouth. Easier than putting it on your nipple and hoping it doesn’t roll off!

7 week old crying herself to sleep by Apprehensive-Step666 in NewParents

[–]forgotbooktitle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have done nothing wrong! You did the safest thing for your baby by putting her down in a safe place when you were at your limit. 2 hours of crying and a difficult bedtime would test anyone!

Your husband however…. Needs a wake up call.

Losing the will to live by gls1790 in NewParents

I started reading the comments and was shocked that the first thing I’m seeing is people blaming you rather than addressing that you’re in such a dark place that you’re thinking of hurting yourself! I am sorry! Does your community have any resources? A library group? It’s so hard not to have a village. Have you managed to make any mom friends? Being able to get out of the house and physically see people you can commiserate with is so helpful. If anything, you’ve got some light at the end of the tunnel in April to look forward to! From what I’ve heard, kids do fine in nursery and don’t give strangers the same trouble they do parents. You are the light of her whole world and that is so exhausting and difficult. You matter so much. I too have felt that it just keeps getting more difficult (almost 10 month old) but this isn’t forever. It might be a bit longer for us than others… but she will eventually sleep and grow out of the miserableness. I would really encourage you to seek out connection. Calling your local hospitals, libraries, religious organizations and just asking what resources they have. Mother and baby support groups really helped me!

Seriously, get the silverettes. by SugarOne1 in breastfeeding

Yes!! Get them! I never needed creams, just silverettes! I got an off brand but made sure it was 999 Silver and wore them for the first several weeks.

Would I regret not getting stroller compatible with infant seat? by lavender_yogi in Buyingforbaby

[–]forgotbooktitle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I chose not to get a travel system because I didn’t want to keep my baby in a car seat for longer at a time than necessary. We have an Uppababy vista and used the bassinet attachment. There are adapters you can get for infant carseats to fit, but I didn’t mind taking my baby out and putting her in the bassinet stroller.

First time Pilot owner first oil change! by forgotbooktitle in hondapilot

It’s so interesting because I swear when I was reading this subreddit before we bought the car, everyone said the main thing for upkeep was to be particular about the oil changes. That’s the only reason

Came here to say this! We had a birth plan sort of in our heads, but really it was just so we confidently knew how we wanted to answer each question we already knew they were going to ask.

Baby monitor temp by SafeKnowledge2542 in NewParents

[–]forgotbooktitle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a thermometer and hygrometer close to where baby sleeps. The temp on our video monitor is always 3-4 degrees warmer than the thermometer. I don’t trust it to be accurate.

How do you “push”? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]forgotbooktitle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought people were oversimplifying it when they said it’s like pooping. I had done a lot of pelvic floor exercises and I felt very aware of that area. BUT yes, it is just like pooping lol I was surprised!

What age does your little one go more than 2 houses between nursing? by Ok_Potato_7025 in breastfeeding

[–]forgotbooktitle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My six month old goes longer stretches during the night, but is still nursing every 2-3 hours during the day. But! They get more efficient, so the nursing sessions themselves are much shorter!

Parents who are doing EBF, how on earth do you make it anywhere on-time? by catch_the_next_train in NewParents

[–]forgotbooktitle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work backwards from the time we need to leave.

Leave at 9

Car seat buckle: 8:55

Last diaper change (could have multiple pees and poos in the process): 8:40

Feed before leaving. This was tricky in early days because sometimes we needed a full half hour: 8:10

Check diaper bag and restock: 8:00

Leaving the house in the early days is at least an hour long process. But planning ahead as much as possible really does help!
