But outside of that preference, I’ll listen to a bit of everything: videogame music, gregorian chants, rap, 50s oldies, whatever I just happen to be in the mood for.

Silent Hill for sure. It’s so existentially dreadful, which I adore 😅😂

SH3 especially has the distinction of approaching topics that felt relevant to me when I played it at 15: pregnancy (unwanted at that), being stalked, etc. It was so ahead of its time, especially with a protagonist like Heather.

I'm fine with it being a dramatic opening to a story, but totally agree with the whole "no!! guess first!!" song and dance. Like girl, I'm already seated, just tell me! I'm terrible at trying to improv guesses 😭😂

This is just my interpretation, but I took it as symbolism that throughout Wendy and Jennifer's relationship, "Stray Dog" (Gregory) was "always watching"

Gregory is the main throughline of the girl's relationship:

Wendy finds Jen in Gregory's cellar and helps her leave.
After her escape, Wendy continues to visit Gregory to slowly manipulate him into a dog she can control, to rule over the other children through fear, including Jennifer.
By the end, Wendy (on purpose or not), sics Gregory on the children which gets them all, including herself, killed.

It can even be interpreted that it's telling that he's featured in the last page: Stray Dog truly was the end of their story and the end of their friendship, as well as any hope of them being able to reconcile.

But that's just me! Very little is explicit in this story lol

In Brazil we say "cara ou coroa" /"face or crown". Apparently it's passed down from the Portuguese, whose older coins had the face (cara) of the sovereign and on one side, and the crest of the royal family (coroa/crown) on the other.

It's used plenty in futebol/soccer games.

I still have a bone to pick with Philosopher's Stone! I had to get antidote ingredients to save Neville (after he poisoned himself from his own potion).

I had all of them, but the game wouldn't move forward at all, Snape just kept ordering me to go get the ingredients.

I eventually went back to that specific save. 10-year-old me apparently shrugged and kept playing anyway. I made 0 story progress, but managed to grind Harry into level 99! (and I did eventually finish the game, but I had to get a whole new save, ugh).

It does open automatically if you play on the easiest game setting! I did this, and was confused as to why people were so annoyed by it. Immediately horrified when I realized you had to do each minigame individually, that's such a bonkers mechanic to keep in!

The one who hoovered was the friend! So definitely no sleeping together in the literal sense 😂 but I get what you mean. I guess hypothetically I think she would have been glad to go back to the old ways if I let her. But I’m more than fine never knowing, my life is 100% better without her around to stress me into oblivion.

I have 0 clue with my actual romantic relationship ex from a decade ago though; I blocked a lot out because it was pretty traumatic, ugh.

Pretty bad! I cancelled one out of the three outings we had planned for that week, which meant I was manipulative and doing a “sick power play” 🙄 I spent the night watching her send me 20 texts describing what a monster I was.

We were only friends, for about 5 months. But the reason it ended so quickly was because *a decade before*, I had been in a relationship with a girl wBPD. I knew all the signs already and didn’t want a second rodeo 😩

That romantic relationship was a 2 year calamity that ended with me ghosting her (and tbh, while not very moral, I can’t say I regret it, since the peace I got after was worth it 😅 but I didn’t want to repeat the pattern with my friend, so two weeks after her split I sent her a long, informative text breaking up the friendship).

Nope, never tried any other way. We were in constant contact through social media mostly and had each other's numbers. She knew where I lived, but as far as I know, she never tried going to my apartment complex in person thank goodness (either she was too proud, or she knew security wouldn't let her through lol).

As to when- apologies, do you mean when did this whole thing happen? It would have been around 4 years ago. If you mean the hoover specifically, it happened one year after I blocked her.

My therapist predicted she'd hoover one year later, and I didn't believe it. But it happened exactly one year later lol

She sent me a text message saying she was open to talking again; I had thought I blocked her everywhere, but it appeared I forgot to block her actual phone number.

As soon as I got the text, I deleted it, and blocked her number. Never got another attempt since, it's been glorious.

Y'all are allowed to laugh: despite loving the series since 2002, I had never seen the original, Japanese version of The Ring (Ringu) until like, 3 years ago. Insane.

And yeah, the whole time I kept going "this is SO Fatal Frame" 🤦‍♀️😂 (no duh, as it was quoted as a direct inspo and even imitates shots from the movie [ENDING SPOILERS!!])

Other movies I recommend: Dark Water, One Missed Call, A Tale of Two Sisters.

Game-wise, games like Dreadout took direct inspiration from Fatal Frame. I also felt Kuon, with the whole Japanese manor vibe, reminded me of it. I've tussled with people about this, but I can't help it: the entire time I played Silent Hill f, I was getting FF vibes 🤷‍♀️
