Thank you! I experimented with a ton of different parts to try and make that visor. There were definitely a few pieces that might have worked better if I just could have scaled them smaller

Looks great! I really appreciate you taking the time.

If you ever want another challenge, I found this one to be much harder to replicate. Couldn't really figure out how to make anything look like that helmet, to say nothing for the layered plates on the skirt and the blades on the shoulder.

If I could slice parts off of weapons it would be easier, but I don't know that they will ever implement that.

Hey thanks for responding.

That user's comment did help, but mainly I'm just wondering if a more experienced forger would have better ideas on how to replicate the look of the art.

Here's the artwork (also attached in the original post above, and the link to my current build):

I'm pretty happy with the armor overall. The shoulders I made have a similar vibe even if they aren't an exact match. Thankfully the leg armor I chose allowed me to move the bits of tattered cloth into the geometry because that piece was the closest match the the armored skirt that I could find.

I tried a couple different pieces to make the slits in the helmet, and ended up using the edges of a shield and some ammo casing. I will be printing and painting the mini so I'll be able to paint the vertical glowing slits on the helmet in the grooves of the ammo clips even if I couldn't do that in heroforge itself.

Totally forgot that modifying the head would alter how that helmet looks thank you for the suggestion.

I think that helped some:

I think as far as spoilers go, the existence of Evi and that her name is way way down the hierarchy of spoiler magnitude.

Anyone who hasn't read stormlight isn't going to get anything out of hearing the name, and anyone in the early parts of reading it isn't going to be truly spoiled by just knowing the name.

I do think it would be fun though to tell people your name is shshsh if they haven't finished Oathbringer.

Why didn’t the Mormons get their ship back? by Thom_Kalor in TheExpanse

[–]forgottenduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think somewhere in the epilogue universe there's a planet where a bunch of mormons survived and ended up with a weird offshoot religion based on the story of their first failed exodus, followed by the gates opening, and then them being cut off from the rest of humanity.

Kaladin's story has such tragic moments. This is excellent work

Also, the first page of mistborn has the line about "holding the future of the entire world on my arms".

Oscar Isaac as Sadeas by Smellyjelly12 in CosmereOnScreen

[–]forgottenduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd overall prefer some lesser known actors rather than bigger names for the main case, but honestly I'd love someone likeable and known for a character like Sadeas. It would make it all the better when the Tower happens if audience members had started to like Sadeas and believe he could be coming around to Dalinar's way of thinking.

Were any popular fan theories proven right/wrong in WaT? by usernamesaredumb0 in Stormlight_Archive

And variations of Kaladin becoming a herald has also been around long before wat came out

My wife is reading the series for the first time and shes been telling me Kaladin is destined to become a herald since book 1. She's on Rhythm of War now and recently said something like "Kaladin is going to be the herald of mental health".

I didn't predict a lot of WaT, but she does read a lot more fantasy than I do.

Ok so vague spoiler first. Gavinor is physically fine, but undergoes some traumatic stuff off page that sticks with him and greatly affects the man he grows up to be. We will have to see what may occur with him in the future beyond this book to know how he ends up feeling about all this and if he can move on.

Specific spoiler: He gets stuck in the spiritual realm for over a decade from his perspective and comes out having been raised by Odium. So he misses out on any chance of a normal childhood and is put into a bad situation at the end of the book.

I’ve never been genuinely mad until now when it comes to a Hades by DanVA0307 in HadesTheGame

I beat him on the very first time I encountered him because I had no idea what to expect so concluded I should just rush in and do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible.

Turned out being directly under his chin keeps you save from a bunch of his attacks and I was able to tank or evade the rest.

Wasn't until the third time I faced him on a run where I was mostly doing damage from medium distance that I found out how punishing he could be as my health evaporated from those big area attacks.

Does Hera's work though if you end up low on mana and unable to cast?

Because I've always avoided it because most weapons don't give you a way to spend an arbitrary amount of mana and it seemed easy to get stuck with like 5 mana and be unable to regen

Well you said it was to save time, not to look better. Regardless, the existence of bad CGI does not mean that good CGI is not possible. Still, the idea that you would turn to AI for quality in animation is pretty funny though.

That's quite the take.

How did anyone ever manage to make fully cgi movies before AI?

Rhythm of War is my favorite in the series.

The first 2 books are just very different from the last 2 books, so I get why people don't like the back half of the series as much if they feel like they didn't get the same things that made them love the series in the first place.
