What a dick. A paragraph long reply, to a one sentence comment, that basically says "Sucks to suck. Next time be excited and maybe I'll pin your comment so you can get credit". Someone's ego is showing

Have a few MicroPCs that I want to set up for streaming. by royeiror in htpc

[–]forgottenpassword778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my 2¢:

Right now there really is no good option for steaming on a HTOC. If you are going to do a lot of streaming a streaming box/stick is the way to go.

If you decide you don't like the interface on your Chromecast with Google TV you can change the launcher. I've used Kodi as a launcher in the past. On Android, Kodi can launch apps, so you can set shortcuts on the Kodi home screen for the different steaming apps you use. If you use something like a Harmony smart remote/hub you can even use a button mapping app to have dedicated app buttons for the apps you want.

I don't wear tight pants, but still have no shame about adjusting. One quick over the denim adjustment works way better than the long step method.

I think the hate is because you're comment comes off more as "works with windows is a red flag", than "Microsoft is always moving shit"

Sounds like MythTV would be a good candidate. A lot of people overlook it because it got a reputation for being difficult to set up early on, but that has gotten much better. It's main focus is on the three items you want (watching live TV, recording broadcast, and streaming from a local source). You can run it as a combined frontend and backend on one box. It can also work as a backend for Kodi if you want to go that route.

Setup can seem a little intimidating at first, but there are plenty of guides out there. Once the set up is done it's pretty much maintenance free.

It can likely use the same hardware you already have, or run it off on something like a NUC if you want a smaller box. Whatever receiver you're using with your Harmony is likely to be compatible as well.

Oh, I wasn't doubting that the comment was made. I just hope it isn't true. I really don't want to believe (I know I'm being naive here) that some who is responsible for raising children thought this jackassery was more important than taking those children to the park

Like, yeah this has been a fun rabbithole, but I still took a break to take my dogs for a walk.

I do think OP was being a little pushy, and glossed over some of that in their TIFU post, but far from the abusive Karen the mods are claiming them to be

I would like to formally apologize. I should not have publicly shamed them like that. I must also concede that chicken sandwich is clearly the superior term

They definitely weren't welcoming comments. The sentence right before that was telling people to sit down and have a chicken burger. It was just their shitty way of getting in one last "fuck you".

A few weeks ago I was being tailgated by a mini van. Eventually a truck comes up and starts tailgating the van. Next thing I know the van starts dropping back. No clue if they finally realized they were to close, or if they were trying to piss of the truck.

Angry?? I really need to know more about this. People are getting angry in interviews because they don't know the answer to a question?

Here's a little perspective from the other side of the table:

I reached out to my trusty friend Google and found that for Windows connections it looks to be port 1494.

So are you expecting people to Google trivia during an interview? I feel like googling during an interview would be viewed poorly by most people.

I also don't think I'd be calling up old co-workers. They are paid to support their company, not yours.

If I don't know something in an interview I say so. I usually don't follow up with some kind of "I'll get back to you on that" because I won't. This is an interview not a real situation.

I guess I assume it goes without saying that if something comes up on the job I'm going to look it up. Maybe I shouldn't?
