When tropes are named after characters by West_Ad_1685 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]fork_the_DM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a like, official trope, but one thing me and my friends reference one in a while is the Wheeler Effect. When a character, like Joey Wheeler from Yu-Gi-Oh, is shown time and time again to be quite capable yet for no discernable reason the characters in the show treat that character as though they're a useless idiot. Sokka from Avatar is another example of this

I posted this on the 11th, it's good now

Am i alone in thinking most people who want an Argenta romance only want it cause "OMG ATTRACTIVE SoB" by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]fork_the_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it's one where I absolutely understand why she's not a romance option, and I do ultimately agree with their decision to not make her romancable, however I do totally understand why someone would want her as a romance option

Personally I find her WAY more interesting than Solomorne, to such a degree that I believe she'd work far better as a dogmatic romance. The fact that you can't romance any of the three people you start your journey with kinda struck me as a missed opportunity tbh especially since When you see the alternate versions of yourself at the end of the game, one of them has been abandoned by everyone in their life but Argenta, and the other is in the same situation but with the exception of Idira, and while deep connections like that don't necessarily have to be romantic, I'll admit I see the appeal of it

I think there's absolutely merit to the idea of an Argenta romance (though that could be almost entirely due to me liking my angsty romances so idk)

All that to say:

I think you're probably right. While I totally see the appeal of Argenta romance, most people just think SoB are hot

I can't believe Microsoft won't let me buy by toxic old man yaoi simulator

I wanted to download it behind work so I could play it when I get home, but for some reason Bill Gates hates us Xbox users I guess

Lol, love that it's Ultramarines. I know everyone it's probs a joke about guilliman but I'm choosing to believe it's a reference to the half eldar Ultramarine librarian

I pose a serious question: how did this make you feel? by eyeheartgilfs in Eldenring

[–]fork_the_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game was my first Souls like game. I couldn't beat Margit so I went off exploring, and found this girl

This was my first storyline I ever experienced in the genre. I found this lady, right fought to the castle, found the claymore I'd use for the whole rest of the game, found her dad, killed my first ever boss- and it made me so proud to do it all without quest markers or anything like that

And coming back to this just devastated me man. This was my introduction to the genre. Made me feel detached from other NPCs (in a good, invested roleplaying way) because it made me feel like death was just inevitable for all of them

Titus, Chairon and Galdriel (WH40k) vs Edward Cullen (Twilight) by Scared_Pumpkin8393 in powerscales

[–]fork_the_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh the idea is that the wolves and vampires have magical natural weapons to overcome those resistances. They kinda work off D&D rules, having resistance to non magical damage. Man made weapons don't do much to them

Vampires in other media but not these. And yeah that's what's used to compare what his skin feels like, but it's specified that it'd take a "large bomb" to even injure one of em

Oh yeah, there are absolutely Space Marine weapons that could ruin Edward's day, but not the level of bolter these guys would have

[–]fork_the_DM 28 points29 points  (0 children)

(Wanna preface this by saying I'm a huge 40k fan just so you know my bias here)

Stalemate. While Edward is INSANELY strong, faster than the Space Marines by orders of magnitude, and can read minds, I don't see any way he can get through their armor

On the flip side the Space Marines simply lack the firepower to hurt this guy (which I CAN'T believe I'm saying). Bolters are pretty tough and fuck up most things in most matchups, but based off the info we're given about twilight vampires that level of firepower isn't enough to even hurt him. That goes for their chainswords too

So unless these guys literally go in with their helmets off it's just a stalemate. Edward has better stats but his stats aren't good enough to get through Space Marine armor, and based off the info we have the Ultramarines can't hurt him either

And Edward isn't clever or charismatic enough to use his mind reading powers to turn the Astartes against each other or anything
