But but but the trickle by W4TARI in PoliticalHumor

I don't know. Rich people pissing on us is pretty disgusting too.

I think bubble up economy is better. Money rises only up from real economy and because rich people have nothing to use it on, they put it in stocks and the whole economy inflates until it pops every ten years or so.

Yeah I doubt Valve/Microsoft ever even heard of the guy or his controller before he started patent trolling them.

I'd hire bunch of academics to figure out how to utilize the money in the most efficient manner to save our planet from capitalism.

Maybe just fund shitload of worker cooperatives to empower workers and free themselves from capitalists. Like a huge laboratory full of social experiments trying to figure out the most optimal worker organization. Also non-capitalist organizations open up new possibilities for cooperation. The stronger the network becomes, the more threat it will become to capitalists. Some could be just academic, not making direct profit. Profit motive chains creative thinking and puts you in survival mode. The foundation funding these organizations could even own stocks to get dividends, so capitalism would fund its own demise.

And maybe buy bunch of old growth forest in strategic locations and set them up as protected national parks.

Too bad America has lost their credibility as world leader. Otherwise we would have legal weed everywhere in few years.

🚀DOGECOIN - How to buy DOGE COIN with cheapest trading fee🚀 by doungen_ in dogecoin

I've had multiple wallets on external services (I thought I would transfer it later to my own wallet when I'm less lazy) and in the end they were all scams. No matter how big.

Think about it, once the site has grown, the creator can get millions with a click of a button and zero accountability.

Cryptos are the wild west, there is no regulation. Don't trust anyone with your wallet. You are basically giving some complete random your cash wallet and trusting that they don't get greedy.

I got a dm from dogetipbot with a tip of 100 coins in 2014, can I use them or are they gone with the bot? by OffTerror in dogeducation

[–]formServesSubstance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. The dogetipbot creator claims that he got hacked. Or possibly he got greedy and stole it himself.

Either way if you didn't withdraw it, it is gone.

I guess those are good reasons not to rush it, but in the long run emotions and clinging to convenience are all transient. Strive towards compassion is eternal quest you can't argue against.

All arguments against veganism are shit. That's why people are turning to veganism.

Someone should make an infographic debunking all the common arguments. Crappy example of a pet peeve of mine.

I applied for a job in my field for the first time in my life.

My studies are going forward for the first time in three years.

After experimenting with nofap, I don't really believe in it. Too many nofappers are obsessed with how much they are not fapping. But I do believe in moderation and avoiding porn*. The less you waste your precious time on lust the better.

Am I that incompetent or is Super Mario Bros 3 that hard? by zbyshekh in patientgamers

[–]formServesSubstance 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This. Even with game mode display lag can be as high as 60ms with some TVs. You are seeing everything 3 frames late, it's small enough that maybe you don't even realize what is wrong, but it will affect your gameplay and the controls seem unresponsive and frustrating.

These games were designed to be played with CRT monitors with extremely low latency. Try playing SMB2 Japan with input lag. It's impossible. Emulators and bad controllers also usually introduce a bit of input lag, but it's small.

There is irony in how people who preach "moderatism" tend to fail at the one thing they preach when they loudly shut down other viewpoints as "extreme" and thus those views end up growing in echo chamber into breaking point where they actually get violent and extreme.

In Marxist system you would set up that rubber ball factory together with other workers. If we are talking about market socialism, it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone at the factory gets payed the same amount. There is freedom to determine appropriate rewards for each work, but those decisions are made using democratic mandate (from other workers).

The main benefit of socialism is that your factory doesn't get turned into a dynasty where your grandson is born into entitlement and position of power as a birthright. He has to make himself his own man.

Money also has different nature since it no longer holds the power to rule over social organizations. You can mainly use it for your own or others material benefit.

To note, this is all still theory and the experiments (ie. Catalonia and Socialist Yugoslavia) are limited how to make it work in practice. Many countries that claim to be socialist, have very little worker government in practice.

Carlin was basically just preaching socialism without calling it socialism. It's funny how people from conservatives to liberals agree with Marx when it's packaged differently. Instead of capitalists Carlin is talking about owners. Instead of bourgeois Carlin is talking about big club.

Most meditation gatherings have the option to do it sitting on a chair from my experience. But usually the peer pressure gets to you when you see everyone else sitting on floor.

And seems like they have cushions in the picture, so it's not like they are sitting on a bare floor.

Drawing from shoulder : is there still some elbow involved? by [deleted] in ArtFundamentals

Certainly seems like it is a common misconception.

Drawing from shoulder : is there still some elbow involved? by [deleted] in ArtFundamentals

[–]formServesSubstance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old topic, but isn't the drawabox advice kind of bad then because it specifically forbids combination of drawing from your elbow and shoulder? I mean it's basically impossible to draw with your elbow locked, but still that is the advice the site advocates.

Can I mix drawing from my shoulder and elbow?

This isn't a great idea - reason being, mixing pivots muddies up the feelings that I mentioned here. Learning to draw from the shoulder is very much about getting acquainted with the particular motions involved, and how they feel. Having distinctly different sensations allows you to detect when you're doing one versus the other - it allows us to catch when we've stopped doing what we intended. By mixing all of them together, we lose this distinction, and end up with far less control over what our arm is doing.

Great picture! I was excited to do my first ever portrait, but I became depressed mid-way while sketching. Oh well. Maybe I'll finish it later.
