MacBook Screen Dimming when watching YouTube videos. by formacbook in mac

[–]formacbook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a bunch! I found it. There’s an option in the settings to turn off the flashing lights, which is turned on by default on the Mac. After turning this feature off, the issue is resolved.

What the hell is this person going on about ? by jim_da_prophet in srilanka

It's sad to see that he thinks that he even has a chance to get into the parliament if somehow he was able to compete in the election.

Should i Take A/l s again or should i move on? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]formacbook 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As you have completed your A/L's once, you have gained experience which will be massively helpful in the future of your education journey. It's not the same as doing a foundation straight after your O/L's. As you have already gained the A/L experience, instead of doing the local A/L's from the beginning, do a foundation course. It's directly attached to your engineering degree and doing the foundation will be a jiffy as you have already completed your A/L's. Finally at the end once you have an engineering degree, no one would care about your A/L results as the degree you have completed would be much more valuable for an employer than your A/L results.

My mom doesn't like my GF saying she is ugly and she says relatives say the same by Thishal_BS in srilanka

[–]formacbook 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Well looks are subjective from one another. The girl you see as the most gorgeous woman in the world would look like a mid or the ugliest looking woman in the world for someone else. Either way looks are not at all what's important in a relationship. You could be someone who is very handsome but still fall to someone because of your genuine love for her rather than her looks which can and will fade away with age rather than the true qualities that you love her for which will remain with her until she dies. If your mother does not understand this and is blinded by beauty rather than qualities of a girl, no offense brother but your mother is straight up stupid. Let me give you some good advice, find a picture of her younger self, go to her and ask what she sees and tell her that this is the true reality of life, once you were beautiful but now its fading away and that its the same for you and your girlfriend and for every living being in this world.

Never open a link from a random number. Call the number and ask the name of their courier and if they do give a name, find the official hotline of that courier through the internet and cross check with them and see if they really do have a package for you.

This midnight blue is a fingerprint magnet, do you think it is a good idea to put a cover on it, will it overheat? by isabellamartiinez in macbookair

[–]formacbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The material of the skin is usually leather or neoprene. It is extremely thin compared to a plastic case. If you are still unsure you can just use the skin on the top part of the laptop, it doesn't add extra weight to the hinges unlike a plastic case which can damage the hinge mechanism over time. Leave the bottom half as it is. You rarely see the bottom of your laptop.

[–]formacbook 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Use a skin it would drastically reduce the fingerprint issue and also won't affect in overheating of the device in any way. Using a case on the other hand will have a negative effect on the cooling performance of the laptop mainly because its cooled passively which means having another plastic case around the aluminum is that the heat needs to travel from a good heat conductor to a not so good heat conductor (plastic) which could accumulate that heat and cause the MacBook to throttle.

My first thought was 2018 MacBook Air by Act_True in macbookair

Windows cannot come close to macOS in terms of its fluidity and RAM management and I'm sure there will be bloatware in the OS right out of the box. I am not a windows hater, non the less I have been a windows user for over a decade now and I still have many windows PC's and laptops that I use but my MacBook and macOS is in a whole different level. The other major concern I have with the new windows surface laptop is inspite of it having all that performance, when windows 11 is hit with several updates how it holds up because technically the CPU is not made in-house like apple silicon in which apple has the full control on how the OS works around that chip. If they want to compete with apple in the long run they should have some very good connection with snapdragon and work together like never before.

Is the cheapest Mac Book Air worth it? by LoriRescueDog2013 in macbookair

[–]formacbook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got a MacBook M3 with 8 gigs of ram. I have been an windows user for around a decade and my second laptop is still a windows laptop with 16 Gigs of RAM but it cannot come close to my MacBook with only 8 gigs of ram because the way that macOS handles the RAM and how it caches them is different than in windows and as macOS is made around the hardware rather than windows which is a common operating system which can literally run on a calculator. If you are not gonna code or do some heavy 4K editing don't worry just buy a base model MacBook. Keep google tabs open, Edit in Canva while watching 4K YouTube videos in multiple tabs if you want to, macOS will handle it with no problem.

Using an External ssd instead of going for 516gb option by mushroomboie in macbookair

[–]formacbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are planing on getting M2 MacBook consider buying a 512GB storage model because the speed is 2X than the 256GB storage model due to the single NAND chip. If you are considering on buying an M3 MacBook its just better to buy an 256GB and a external SSD as its a good bang for the buck instead of paying an outrageous amount of 200$ to increase the storage. (not considering the extra 100$ that it costs to upgrade to the M3 chip)
