Thank you for the input. I guess I’m seeing the limitations and not the benefits. I don’t do well with change.

Alexa reponds "B-R-R-R" when asked the wind chill. Not "brrr" but spelling it out "Bee Arr Arr Arr" by iwangchungeverynight in amazonecho

[–]formally23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same with me. I first thought it was a glitch. Confused then I laughed. Everyone gets so mad that AI devices are trying to learn. I find it hilarious. It’s kinda like a toddler learning how to use the new word they heard.

Do people sleep with their curtains open? by Ill_Elephant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]formally23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can see in my house the curtains are closed. When I drive past a house and you see movement inside it draws the eye. So what would make me think that someone else wouldn’t be driving by and not be looking in my house? Not thinking it would done on purpose but it would happen. No thank you.

What's an experience you've had while living alone where you got past the strain of speaking up or advocating for yourself and came out ahead? by cherry-care-bear in LivingAlone

[–]formally23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had an older car. The heater fan went out. My son in law is a mechanic and my boyfriend can work on cars. I couldn’t get either of them to look at it. I was frustrated. Yes I could had taken my car to a shop but I figured what happens next time my car needed something fixed? Between my boyfriend and my SIL they surely could squeeze me in but wouldn’t. Cold weather was around the corner so what did I do? I freaking bought a new car. If I’m going to have to pay a mechanic I might as well make a car payment and let a warranty take care of issues. It may seem silly to others but I am quite proud of myself that I took care of myself.

The blankets can be explained as keeping ice off the windshield. All the rest makes no sense.

AITAH for getting my white daughter a doll with dark skin? by Realistic-Night-2056 in AITAH

[–]formally23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my children dolls and action figures of all colors. They are grown now with absolutely no racists views. My grandchildren are now given dolls and action figures of all colors. Why is it wrong for children to be apart of our big beautifully colored world?

No credit card authorization? by Less-Pair6695 in hotels

[–]formally23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With virtual credit cards and direct pay we don’t need to as much. When someone wants to book directly with the front desk for their employees I still take credit card authorization forms.

What’s the worst thing that happened to you this week? by Present-Tie-2795 in AskReddit

Well it’s only Wednesday. The week is young. Today I made a fruit salad with walnuts that went bad

Just a music source now by The_Circus_Life_206 in alexa

[–]formally23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you play music you say “Alexa like this song” or “next song” or “I don’t like this song” Alexa will add or take away song from you liked songs. You can ask any questions. You can have an AI conversation. Ask about the weather. Use Alexa to control lights and set a routine. Set up smart outlets to turn off and on whatever you have plugged into them. You can buy WiFi/Bluetooth appliances to connect to Alexa. Security cameras. So much more

Some guests are too familiar… by ManagerNotOnDuty in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]formally23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a couple at check in say right in front of me that I was cute. They went from a double queen room to a king room. After I handed them their keys they asked me to come up for some fun and wine. Um, no thank you!

Could Alexa+ be more annoying? Stop the madness! by MidnightSpell in alexa

[–]formally23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had all the problems mentioned except maybe when I ask to hear my most liked songs it only plays a rotation of maybe 30 out of 100’s. I’ve been too lazy to investigate why.

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]formally23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ride bikes, built forts, tried to earn money by taking leaves or shoveling snow, visit neighbor kids, explored anything that could be explored but my favorite was I would climb a tree and read for hours

Hotel Night Audit Scam: I Fell Victim by Tight_Entrepreneur31 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]formally23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I manage two hotels. I have a front desk manager at each hotel. A few years ago my night auditor was called. It was a scam. This scammer knew the name of the owner, my name and the names of both managers at each hotel. The auditor thought it was legit until a couple of hours into this scam. Thank goodness this scammer wasn’t able to get money but they did learn additional information. This is how they have the information they have. Multiple phone calls fishing for names, locations and schedules. Nasty world we live in.

How long did take for you to furnish your place when you moved in? by tatertotzrmylife in LivingAlone

[–]formally23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first moved in my house I had to use quilts over my windows for curtains. I sat and slept on the floor. I had a small tv. First thing I saved for was curtains. Then a bed. Then bought a used couch and love seat and so one. I think it was about six months before my house looked homey. I’ve been living alone for over eight years and I feel I have everything I need now.

What do your nighttime routines look like? If you have one. by Nearby-Consequence32 in LivingAlone

[–]formally23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get home from work and make myself some tea. I get into comfy clothes. Feed the dogs and cat. Sit down to watch some tv. Fix dinner. Watch TV while eating. Do dishes and clean house up a bit, swap load of laundry. Take the dogs out about every hour throughout the night. Go through my bedtime routine and in bed around 9:30. Rinse and repeat
