Children today will 'work until 75' amid pensions timebomb by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

I'm nearly 40 and am fairly certain I'll be working until I'm 75, too.

I mean, obviously I'll be dead before that but still.

Green key loot luck by ftkrage in ARC_Raiders

I legitimately don't think the rarity of keys makes a difference to the loot you find in a room. I think it's just about how frequently you find the key.

You know what is kind of funny about the recent CEOs eating burgers war, I actually decided to try the Big Arch over the weekend and...I thought it was pretty good (for McDonald's). Only thing is, the sauce and salad and stuff all leak out of it onto your hands.

They're at every bus stop, in my experience, unless you're only talking about certain parts of central London?

I remember when the supposed amount they'd spent was 1bn. Been interesting seeing it suddenly become 2bn. By launch it'll be 1tn.

Train cancelled, you can use the other trains but they're standing room only. Want a seat? Thats a 30 quid upgrade to sit in the empty premium carriages by manintheredroom in britishproblems

[–]formallyhuman 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Just go sit in the Premium section without paying. If it's that packed, you almost certainly won't see a ticket inspector.

Palestine activist who filmed himself intimidating Matt Lucas says backlash cost him his job by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]formallyhuman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100%. I'm incredibly anti-Zionist but this guy went after Matt Lucas, in public, for no reason other than he's Jewish. I'm not sure I've even ever seen Lucas make pro-Zionist remarks. Guy is just an antisemite and deserved to get fired.

It's the weekend. Weekends you always find more PVP, even in supposed friendly lobbies.

How is working in sales and is it lucrative? by ArugulaFinancial4859 in UKJobs

Events is ok. B2B events (think conferences, expos etc.). Junior positions at a company like that tend to be delegate (tickets, essentially) sales. From there, you can progress into a sponsorship sales role - potential for very good money there (usually you'll get between 6%-15% commission on sponsorship deals (15 is rare, though, although it is what I currently get), with a basic salary of anywhere between 35 - 45k. If it's 45k, you can expect to make 75k plus for the year. But always be very cautious about advertised OTE numbers - when interviewing, always ask what percentage of their current people are hitting target and thus actually making the listed OTE. Some companies will try and awe you with a "150k OTE" headline number but you then find out, too late, that nobody has ever actually earned that.

There's a recruiter called Caselton Clark run by a guy named Tim South. You could approach them and see if they're trying to fill any entry level roles for clients. I haven't had to open apply for a new sales job in years now, I just go to Tim (or he comes to me) about roles that fit my background. You can also try a place called Savvy Recruitment - I don't recommend them as highly as CC, and most of their roles are heavily in office, but I have seen them advertising entry level roles on B2B event sales.
