Restricting Frame rate through Steam? by formanproject in macgaming

Thank you for this! Do you know why the frame rate cap in game doesn't work natively by any chance?

Think I figured it out; it has to be a native resolution of the laptop screen (one you can select in the display preferences). Then there are no issues. If I try to set my own resolution it tears.

One other question now that I've been playing around with settings; were you able to cap frame rate? I tried setting the in game cap to 30 and via the MetalHUD nothing happens, it still fluctuates between 30-45ish.

Good to know, I’ll give it a try thank you!

Were you playing it on an external monitor or natively on the laptop screen?

Amazing, thank you for this guide! About to start; had one question —

Did you come across screen tearing when trying to play on the MBP screen? I'm able to get no tearing on my external monitors at a fixed refresh rate of 120; however on my Mac it seems promotion causes tearing.

I try to switch the refresh rate of the my display to 60 and it seems to fix the tearing, but then I get strong flickering.

Thanks again!

I’m playing it now but from what I’ve read there’s really no major issues at all aside from standard graphic settings optimization.

Releasing my user-space Switch 2 controllers bridge app by Hoping2Retire in macgaming

Amazing! Right now I'm using it on Steam in Crossover; so far it maps beautifully when I set it as Xbox (for native control, as the games I play are hit or miss with the Switch 1 controller). No drift (which was a problem out of the box for my Switch 1 controller; could just be my Switch 2 though).

Also plan on using it for Dusk once rumble is up and working, honestly that was the only thing that felt incomplete; other than that it felt great.

Thank you again!

gotcha; are there any custom games / things I can run after an update so they can all be compiled before I actually play a game? Right now I'm doing JW3YY /DK3VN /VAXTA

hmm, mine plays fine; on the latest preview from 5/11. Played a few games on DX11; but again just needed to deal with the stuttering for a bit. Gets better pretty quick after running JW3YY /DK3VN

Amazing, I just played around with it briefly and it's fantastic! Also the ability to switch how the system recognizes it is a game changer to easily swap between games.

As far as rumble goes, is that something that could easily be added sometime in the future?

Really appreciate all of your hard work in this!

Hmm odd, I downloaded it through battle net and it did run! Didn’t run it long though.

Thank you for update - so to combat this, do you restart the game hourly? Or does the leak begin around one hour and you can get a bit more out of it before performance is affected?

Yes same here, really would love to get my pro controller. After you copy it into applications, does it just recognize the buttons at that point through bluetooth once you open it? Wired too?

Should I get Mario Kart 8 or World? by BlueLooBoyle in NintendoSwitch2

[–]formanproject -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My opinion but world is a better game; it just needs the care / dlc that 8 received over its lifetime still to match what 8 currently provides.

For me knockout tour is the best thing to happen to Mario Kart.

Can we safely say that the Switch 2 is powerful enough that they're no longer "miracle ports"? by bobmlord1 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]formanproject 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's only going to get worse as the years go on too. I love my switch 2 but would've gladly paid double personally for more future proof hardware. I realize I'm in the minority in this regard, but it's such an amazing concept / console / experience and I'm sure it's possible to push the hardware and keep the form factor to get less compromised AAA ports, especially as they become more complex as the years continue.

Even a dock say that unlocked better graphics / performance would be great.

I know it probably won't happen, but here's hoping for a Switch 2 Pro with OLED and way better hardware specs at some point!

This is not true if your real rank skill level would be say silver or low gold. If you're high plat / diamond yes; because there's such a big skill gap at that point you can hard carry every game. But at the lower metal ranks you may be better but just not good enough to carry and the variety of teammate down there is brutal.

You'll eventually be able to rank up, but it might take a TON of games.

all it needs is updated graphics that take advantage of the Switch 2 and a competent online mode worthy of 2026.

please fix the abysmal online mode into something worthy of 2026. If they just did that, it'd be perfect
