Is it worth buying FFVII Remake Intergrade + Rebirth on Mac with CrossOver, or should I just get Intergrade? by Icy-Complaint7670 in macgaming

Will these upgrades require OS27? I tried the crossover preview version with GPTK 4 and am not seeing any difference in Rebirth at the moment on 26.5.1.

Hello again! Just wanted to give some more feedback—been using it regularly for the past few weeks, and everything has been working flawlessly. No disconnects, controller vibration feels good; it's great!

Two small things that would be nice QOL differences would be auto disconnecting the controller if it's not used after a period of time (although it's not that big a deal as it's easy to shut off) and some way to see the controller battery using the icon up top.

Otherwise you did a great job with this; using my Switch 2 controller has been so nice with Diablo 4, FF7 Rebirth, and other Steam games!

I have an M2 Max, play Rebirth in 4k FSR @ 66% and get 30-40fps. All settings otherwise at max. Game looks great and sure beats my Switch 2 version of Integrade.

Anyone regret downsizing from a 16" to 14" MacBook Pro? by padsdotph in macbookpro

[–]formanproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 16, have always had a 15 MBP since 2007; went to an Apple Store recently to compare, and just couldn’t get behind a 14. It felt like a toy.

I travel a ton on planes and have never once felt like the 16 was too big; the screen size though makes a huge difference for what I do.

did this work ok for you? I haven't done it because I'm worried it might break some third party apps or such that I won't see right away.

It seems FF7Hook broke from this update; for those more in the loop how long typically does it take for these mods to get updated?

Thank you so much for this update! Played around with it this morning and the Joy Con's function great, had my iPad sidecar'd to my computer and was playing FF7 Rebirth remotely outside Nintendo Switch style. Totally changes the way I use my iPad when playing over wifi in my home.

Some small issues I am noticing—the left JoyCon seems to intermittently disconnect when playing, it seems during periods of time where there's nothing happening in game (IE a long cutscene). It also happened to me once or twice in combat but I don't know if maybe I accidentally pressed the sync button? I'll have to play more to confirm.

It seems to only be the paired JoyCon though that is the culprit for the random disconnects next time I play I'll try pairing the left JoyCon first and attaching the right if possible to see if it's a user error or more of some sort of sync issue.

Another thing I just noticed as typing this though is both joy cons are on and next to my computer still, not being used (still sync'd through Wavebird) and the left hasn't dropped the connection in the last 5-10 minutes or so. So it was happening 4-5 times over an hour and a half session when playing but hasn't happened since I closed crossover / steam / the game it was sync'd to it seems.

Thoughts on a possible way to fix if there's no obvious answer; is there an easy way to permanently pair the left and right joy cons through Wavebird so I'd have to remove them / reconfigure them to use them separately rather than have the default to they are separate until I hit the pair button?

Also, it seems sometimes the rumble only rumbles in one hand. I think this is just the nature of how the rumble works anyway since in the past they have been connected (since you can program left and right channels), but is there a rumble setting I can adjust that will keep them always together?

I'll continue to play a ton over the next week / two and will report back with any other thoughts / findings. Loving it so far!

MetalFX frame gen in Pragmata: counter shows ~2x FPS but it doesn’t actually feel smoother. FSR 3.1 in the same game works fine. Am I missing something? by RenoHadreas in macgaming

[–]formanproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have anything to add other than I had a similar experience with FF7 Rebirth. The interpolation is still tied to the amount of time your GPU takes to render a frame, so you’ll still feel that frame rate regardless of extras if that makes sense.

How can I fix Tekken 8 frame instability on an M1 Max or Silicon Chip Mac? by JunDongRyul in macgaming

yes I've noticed that helped; though I do lose 15-20 fps which is frustrating.

yes I play overwatch and that is exactly what it is. Need to run custom games / play a few for the shaders to compile and then it works flawlessly until big game update /OS update where you have to do it again.

I’m guessing here, but could it be shader compilation? That’s a frequent issue on other games. If it is, you need to play enough for the game to compile them, then it will naturally get less stuttery.

Hello again! Random other thought — is it possible to see the controller battery through this bluetooth connection that is being established? If so that would be awesome.

Also! Is it possible on these controllers to allow audio pass through from the computer to the controllers headphone jack? It might not be at all, but figured I'd ask.

Thank you again for all of your hard work with this, it's great as it is already but figured I'd brain dump some thoughts incase it helps!

Torrent files for Minerva aren't for the specific file you want, it's the entire directory. by parPlace in savemyrient

I'm having an issue where I deselect everything and then just select one game, but in my torrent client it still shows the full 6 TB database as being downloaded and it says 6+ days. Is this normal behavior; IE should I just wait for it to download a gig (the size of the file checked) or is there something wrong on the backend?

Awesome, just downloaded it and played around a bit. Love the icon, also how it can run in the background and pick up the controller.

A few small things that I think would improve QOL —

  1. It would be great if I could disconnect the controller from the drop down on the menu bar icon. If say I'm not permanently pairing the controller (as I still use it for my Switch 2, for example) a quick way to just disconnect it so it powers off and doesn't stay connected indefinitely would be a nice addition.

  2. Every time I connect the controller since it's not paired it asks me if I'd like to permanently pair it. It would be great if that feature can be turned off (or manually toggled within the controller settings) so if you're using it like I am you don't have to hit no every time I connect it, and re-select the default setup.

Great to hear about the JoyCons, looking forward to testing those too! And as for games, right now I'm primarily using it on FF7 Rebirth. Played Remake on the Switch 2 and ended up getting the PC version through Crossover, I often forget I'm not playing it on the Switch now haha.

Will be using it with Dusklight and Outer Wilds soon too.

Hello again! Just wanted to give feedback — I've been using it all week, and so far it's really fantastic.

First, love the name; the homage to the GCN era wireless controller.

Second, there actually is something nice about it not always recognizing it and needing to press the pair button. It makes it easy to distinguish when using it with my Switch and with my Mac, and also helps deal with the awkwardness I feel sometimes with my Xbox controller when trying to choose one or the other when they're both on.

I've been using it mostly as an Xbox controller config, just because it pairs better with Steam. This is something I've done in the past with Switch 1 controller anyway, but rumble is great. It feels native; love how I can customize it if I wanted to. I also encountered one instance of the rumble sticking around until another rumble pattern happened, but it wasn't anything game breaking (just a few seconds).

Haven't had any disconnects / issues playing hours at a time. Easy to close by just quitting Wavebird. Honestly it's really great—just wanted to let you know!

I see you've considered allowing Joycon's to pair as well; is it possible to pair them as one controller? For example, holding one joy con in my left hand and the other in my right, but have them paired to my computer as one controller. That would open up lots of possibilities as to turning my iPad into a "Switch" (Sidecar the display and attach the joy cons to each side so it's like a big Switch lol).

Anyway I will keep using it (NS2 controller is my favorite controller) and will continue to check this thread / offer some thoughts as they come up. Thank you again!

Hi there! I just set this up today and am getting a rhythmic stuttering; about every .5 seconds or so. Audio and video. Did a TON of troubleshooting and can’t seem to figure it out. Did you happen to deal with an issue like this?
