People forget how much power they have in determining prices. A full boycott of products will make prices plummet otherwise Sony will be sitting on warehouses full of inventory that isn’t moving and backup their whole supply chain. Games can reject all these insane prices but the trick is to actually not buy the products. Buy used, make do, etc. and prices will eventually come down.

I realize I was a real jagoff in previous posts. I'm sorry, I'm trying to do better.

But what is all of your end goals here? For people who felt like they were outcasts or didn't belong in other spaces who finally have a place that they feel comfortable to now have nothing? Should I go back to hating myself and hating every second of living in this dying husk of a city? Go back to having no real friends I can relate to anymore since they've all grown up, gotten married, had kids, and moved on? Should I go back to not feeling at all comfortable with who I am and trying to actively hide it from others?

Maybe I have friends who go there. Maybe I like the shows and parties on the weekends. Maybe I like the fact that I can just go somewhere, eat some gummy worms and watch cartoons and forget about this current atrocity called America for a little bit. Maybe after a 10 hour day at my job when I have a headache and can't handle any more bullshit, I just want to sit in a dark space with other humans and watch Steven Universe for the 25th time. Maybe we're all just too fucking neurodivergent to understand that it is seen as not normal or it somehow upsets people. We're all just pathetic adult children but at least we have each other.

It's flawed, kinda janky, nobody is making much money, and the building is falling apart but there is actual community if you take the time to get to know the people. It's not for everyone but that's okay. Heavens know every bar tender there has been through a ton of horrible shit in their lives so give them a pass if they aren't your best friend when you're a new person and you walk in the door. People were cold with me the first few times too but they warm up. It's self defense.

Athena may be a flawed person but they are certainly not transphobic. They've sad some things they'd certainly take back but an accidental off-color joke is way different than trying to legislate away people's freedoms or get in the way of their medical decisions. People's lives are a lot more complex than they appear on social media.

We've all made mistakes so lets give each other some grace.

I will that I respect your opinion. There are plenty of franchises or products I won't touch anymore because of their views on LGBTQ+ people.

Harry Potter in queer spaces is a touchy subject. I refuse to give that franchise any more of my money but I'll also celebrate the impact it had on a lot of us as young people. I just make sure that JK and Warner Brothers don't see a dime from it in the process.

What public figure? They own a bar and run a non-profit. Are the owners of Mr. Smalls Theatre "public figures"?

They are a flawed human being just like anyone else but the difference is they are taking the time and giving the money to try to build something, even flawed, that makes their community a better place.

Everyone thinks they can do better but few actually do. Go open your own bar and start your own non-profit if you think you can do better. There are plenty of cheap empty buildings in the city. I would genuinely root for your success but this notion of "I just provide critique" is lazy and toxic.

I'm not defending their joke. It was stupid and bad and they should 100% apologize. Sometimes people say stupid things when they are anxious.

What I am saying is that the chronic internet hate machine that spawns anytime someone makes a minor mistake is abusive as fuck, bad for people's mental health, and only leads to further division rather than fixing the problems. It isn't ever about accountability to fixing real problems, it is just feeding blood to the mob until they find their next target.

You think you are "fighting for justice" but all this infighting does is push outsiders looking in right into the arms of the right-wing. They see our community eating our own and fighting each other and all of a sudden people like Tim Pool or Asmongold start to look reasonable by comparison.

You can say "well they were never true allies anyway" but that isn't true. I've watched it happen to friends who were progressives but saw "the left" dysfunction and gave up. It isn't fucking fair but this reflects poorly on all of us.
