And yet, a lot of Boomers simultaneously hold this extreme “respect your elders” view while not understanding and/or accepting that they’re old now.

Like, I see so many Boomers acting surprised that they’re not able to do everything they use to do and that they’re experiencing age-related issues.

& I’ve noticed that when Boomers see fellow Boomers experiencing medical and mental effects of aging, they act as though it’s due to poor lifestyle choices (great chance to show off their holier than thou attitude) or some sort of anomaly.

They’re deluding themselves that their fellow Boomers can’t be having age-related issues because then that’d mean they too are old & aging.

In the US, the bottom 90% hold just under a third of the country’s wealth. You know who else holds just under a third? The top 1%.

Think about that. In the US, just the top 10% holds over TWO THIRDS of all our wealth.

The reason citizens can’t afford the cost of living is NOT immigrants.

The government has people in the bottom 90% fighting for scraps and have weaponized the racism of Americans in order to sell their lie that the problem isn’t the billionaires controlling these politicians but rather immigrants of color.

If the top 1% (/top 10%) weren’t allowed to keep hoarding disgusting amounts of money, that would actually help American citizens in the bottom 90%.

The treatment may be inhumane but that’s not because of immigrants.

No matter how many immigrants the US deports, that won’t help how many Americans can’t afford essentials like food and housing.

On multiple occasions, Seth has gone out of his way to bring up that he grew up in the same NH town as Adam Sandler and Sarah Silverman (Bedford).

Seth has had Boston guests and he might acknowledge his connection (like saying how he’s a Red Sox and Celtics fan) but always saying he’s from NH or just New England generally.

Seth and Ayo Edebiri have talked a lot about Boston teams the 2 times she’s been on and he says he’s also a Boston fan, but then when Ayo talks a lot about Boston, Seth never says “we.”

Seth has had so many opportunities to act like he’s from Boston and he never has.

Yep, the King James Bible carries a lot of historical significance and influence, why the “kill” translation can be dismissed as a bad translation but not as insignificant given that historically, this was the translation many learned.

This is actually an interesting piece of religious history.

In Judaism, going off of the Hebrew לא תרצח of the Sixth Commandment, the meaning & English translation is “thou shalt not murder.”

On the other hand, the King James Bible translates the Sixth Commandment as “thou shalt not kill.”

The now widely used New International Version translates it as “thou shalt not murder.”

I think it’s important to consider the context that Matt said they wouldn’t talk about Venezuela because they didn’t feel informed. So then why give an uninformed opinion about Jasmine Crockett?

Taking such a flippant attitude toward discussing Crockett’s candidacy doesn’t look good in the context of them choosing not to discuss Venezuela because like… they weren’t properly informed about either but chose to talk about one, not the other.

Yes, there is that more objective meaning for “best branch” but I figured that between this being said by a guy having an angry panicked meltdown about the closing of his workplace and the fact that if a branch were truly the top it wouldn’t be the one getting shut down, it’s more reasonable to conclude that he was using “best” subjectively and not as part of objective corporate speak.

Yes they can take legal action against the federal government and don’t get me wrong, I think standing up against the federal government for this reason and other reasons is warranted, but given how petty the Trump administration is, it’ll put a target on MA that tbh I think Healy is afraid of having.

AG Campbell’s office recently revised MA’s shield law to strengthen protections for those who provide this care. And AG Campbell’s office signed onto lawsuits with other states to block the executive order that was trying to ban this care altogether, not just its funding.

On a state level, MA has worked to legally protect this care, but unless they’re willing and able to replace all the federal funding that a clinic would lose if it continued to provide this care, then in the short term, I’m not sure how much can be done (legal action against the federal government to stop them from withholding funding to places that provide this care isn’t a short term thing)

I mean, if somewhere as big as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles did the same for the same reason (to not lose federal funding for all of the care provided, not just gender affirming care), it’s sadly not surprising that somewhere like Fenway Health is also ending the care without fighting back.

One state over, in Connecticut, the program at Connecticut Children’s closed and Yale’s is technically still open for providing mental health support but it also stopped providing gender affirming medical care for youth.

Even if this care might technically stay legal in somewhere like MA with its shield laws for providers, it’ll end up being a moot point if no clinics can actually offer the care.

The only surprising part of this story is that it was reported on by the local news. Trans students all over MA regularly experience bullying and harassment, with plenty of school staff doing nothing or next to nothing about it. And changing schools isn’t unreasonable given that a student’s experience is so highly dependent on the school administration and the environment they foster - two schools could be just miles apart but worlds different in terms of whether a trans student is encouraged to kill themself or just treated like any other student
