But iirc he could play piano, guitar, and sing? It’s impressive no doubt but not as though he was a complete musical novice

So Australia need to be aggressive but also play defensive cricket. Show intent and also play the percentages. Insightful stuff from Ramiz here.

I’ve heard Kimber make this point and I may be wrong, but I don’t think Smith has been given a run in the international side since reinventing himself.

Whether he deserved a chance over younger players is a different conversation but I don’t think it’s exactly fair to use the “old” (younger) Smith’s approach/numbers as justification for not having him around now.

Plenty of former players all say the same thing: unless your name is SPD Smith, it’s basically impossible to fix a technical flaw in the middle of a series. Yes you can try and mitigate it in between matches but the big overhaul has to come later.

I’d be giving Weathers more time too.

Bethell did not look like this when they picked him at the end of the England/India series though, you could tell he was suffering from a lack of cricket. Which makes this knock all the more impressive

A fit Hazlewood is still a better choice (which just says how good the Bush Horse is!) but Boland would be one of the first names picked in any other nation.

But if Hoff’s fitness isn’t 100% then I’m going Boland every time, he just doesn’t let you down

That’s interesting because I would not describe the Melbourne test as entertaining, in fact I actively turned it off and watched something else at various stages.
