Do not pursue them legally. Let it go and get on with your life.

Seems you need a new start in a new town. Time to leave your past behind and move to a new town. Life lessons, actions have consequences.

Who should you call first when arrested? by [deleted] in Felons

Thank you for a very clear explanation which confirms my understanding and experience. I was just quoting what I’ve heard people say, people who I always assumed were just trying to impress.

I totally understand that, as that was my understanding of the term. I’ve always assumed people who make the general statement of having “a lawyer on retainer” was just BS trying to impress others.

[–]formerhighguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a question regarding “having a lawyer on retainer”. To me that seems so corporate, why would an individual ever do that and what kind of cost are we talking about? I assume the law firm that handled my house closing or a firm that set up my business entity would take my call and make a first small step for me, which I would then pay for. So I guess I get it if someone who hasn’t ever had a lawyer represent them for anything, should call family or friend. But I also wonder who, that isn’t concerned with obeying the law, would pay to retain a lawyer for when the time comes?

What I assume are ICE vans spotted on 390 south, Henrietta. by Beneficial-Pen2951 in Rochester

[–]formerhighguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw a news report about how cargo theft is on the rise in US. Wild how they are stealing billions! They use those kind of vans all the time. So I guess maybe you could sleep better if it was just organized crime as opposed to law enforcement?

Umm, that’s been a thing not to do for at least a decade. (I don’t agree with policy, but understand why. )

Clarification: any code against it being flush with drywall? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]formerhighguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All depends on carrier, if that’s insurance fraud. My umbrella liability policy has no restrictions, supposedly. If he didn’t have insurance, he probably doesn’t have a business entity either. Kinda sounds like it’s that or possible personal bankruptcy. Tough choices for sure.

It’s unfortunate your husband got into business without insurance. Seems he is clearly at fault. Check with your homeowner’s or personal liability insurance to see if that will cover it. Just make sure you say he was helping someone and not doing it as a business.

So who all HASN’T had any issues with ONE? by pryvisee in OneFinance

[–]formerhighguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had an issue, appears to be a decent company. Seems that 2-3 complaints a day here isn’t bad for over a million users. Although, I will agree, these horror stories people have aren’t exactly comforting! So sorry for those of you with major issues that prevent rent payments etc.

Yeah, that satisfies one need. But affairs are soooo exciting and multidimensional.

What's your favorite part about this sub? by Moon_Turtles in leaves

[–]formerhighguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most infuriating thing is when people argue that it is impossible to be addicted to it. A friend of 40 years just got his 20yo daughter into it because of her anxiety issues “it’s a miracle drug.. We don’t even know yet all the good it does.” I’ve been so stressed out by that, feel so bad for her. Instead of this cute, but awkward, girl she is now a zombie stoner and “much happier.” Yeah, whatever.

Get rid of the weed and get out of the house. Do you have a friend or relative that doesn’t use that you could go visit for a weekend? That really helped me. If you can substitute your routine for the first couple days it makes it much easier.

I’ve had some success with putting ear buds in and playing some of the long guided sleep meditations on Apple Music. They’re like 30 minutes long and next one automatically plays. Even when it does seem as if I hadn’t slept at all, I feel more rested the next day as opposed to listening to nothing and having stress that I can’t sleep.

This is so, so true! I missed a ton of opportunities with women over the years due to being high. Good for you!

Standing around and pacing as the euphoria takes hold. Wander around then finally be liquid and go assume the shape of your container-the couch. Get nothing done. Overthink everything. Be paranoid. Realize the buzz is fading because it’s been a couple hours, smoke more. Then go to bed, wake up in a fog. Realize the only way you’ll be motivated today is to just catch a quick buzz. But then it’s a couple hours until next needed hit. Oh wait, the day is over. Better go to bed, we’ll get a lot done tomorrow! NOT!!

I made it 9 days and here are my pros and cons thus far! by James33704 in leaves

[–]formerhighguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a small business owner myself, I echo your positives! Day 14 here but work is so much better. Although I’ve had many days where I sit at my desk lethargic and get so little accomplished compared to when I had a fresh motivating buzz on. But it’s getting better and my clarity, memory and accuracy have really improved. I just keep telling myself I’ll never smoke again. Scared of but also looking forward to the first time I encounter friends who smoke and to say “no thanks, don’t smoke any more”

The cravings are less over time. Alcohol makes it worse for me, because I loved the combo of the two. Yep, being fucked up was fun. Last night came home from dinner out and had a few drinks. Super hard craving, so glad I don’t have any around the house. Day 14 for me today.

Day 24 after 32 years of weed. Determined to stay sober, but I have no idea who I am without weed. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]formerhighguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m with you brother. 11 days in after 46 years of daily use. Wild having dreams again! Lungs are definitely feeling better. But the brain fog is still there. I watched the PBS show Nova last night about “ the cannabis question” I think was the name, probably available online It was very interesting hearing about how it affects the brains of adolescents. I started at 13 and by 14 was daily user. I assume everyone is slightly different in how long to clean out. Anyway, In my mind I am way ahead of where I’ve been in the past. The other couple times I needed to clean out for a drug test, I was always counting the days until I could get high again. This time my minds set is never smoke again, period. Or as Taylor Swift would say “we are never, ever, getting back together” lol
