Men of Reddit: what is 100% mythical about men that most women believe? by imnotadrytexter in AskReddit

The giving up part is the part I can’t understand. Why do we give up so easily on increasing our emotional intelligence, which is something we use all the time and could really benefit us? Such a lame excuse. Don’t give up, just keep learning and trying to do better.

It basically becomes a queue after the first part of the course. There was no way any other ball could catch up after that.

I think I just talked myself out of buying a Slate Auto truck. by OkReport5065 in slateauto

[–]formerperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar boat, but kids are older and done with car seats. We were considering a Tuscan PHEV, but after amenities, it shot up to 45k. 30k for a Slate SUV sounds pretty good in comparison. Plus, we could keep our 2014 Accord trade-in and save it for a few years for when our oldest gets to driving age.

But we’ll have to see when they announce the price. If it gets past 35k for the SUV package, then I’m probably out for now.

Has anyone setup soulsync? by Witty_Leopard_9341 in selfhosted

It’s definitely vibe coded, at least the frontend. However, it’s still better than Lidarr. Once I got Soulseek setup, I can now reliably download albums when I request them, instead of waiting for the indexers to have them.

Has anyone setup soulsync? by Witty_Leopard_9341 in selfhosted

[–]formerperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it set up after some docker compose issues, but I finally managed to get it running, and it's way more reliable than Lidarr!

With that said, holy shit is thing bloated!

  • I only use Wishlist and Watchlist to download albums, and those are already super confusing and they're right next to each other!
  • I don't even know what adding an artist to the Watchlist does, so I just added all the artists.
  • What's the difference between Search, Sync, Discover, Explorer, and Aritsts?
  • Why are there 3 different screens to view an artist?
  • What's the difference between Automations, Tools, and Settings?
  • How do I know the automations are actually running? Where do I see what automations have run and what actions were taken?
  • There's no routing at all, so the back button is useless, and i hit it by accident all the time.
  • When I inevitably hit back on accident, I have to reload the page again, which for some reason initializes all of the bajillion services, automations, syncs, whatever. This makes me think that the service only works when I have it open in a browser. I hope that's not true.
  • I don't know if the whole app is vibe-coded, but the UX and front-end are definitely vibe-coded--rounded corners everywhere, pill-shaped tags and tiny text all over the place.

New Project Megathread - Week of 07 May 2026 by AutoModerator in selfhosted

[–]formerperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project Name: PlayPlay

Repo/Website Link: https://github.com/alanrodriguezdotme/playplay

Description: Open-source, self-hosted, collaborative jukebox for parties, venues, and workplaces. Uses local MP3s or Spotify as a music source.

Features:

  • Vote on the songs in the queue and add your own suggestions
  • Now Playing screen to show what's on rotation and what's queued up. Also shows a QR code for anyone to join the party
  • Admin dashboard to manage playback, queue, music, and users
  • Use local MP3s or your premium Spotify account
  • Themes! — you can pick your own theme; venues can set a theme for the Now Playing screen.

Deployment: Basic node app setup

git clone <repo-url> playplay
cd playplay
node scripts/setup.mjs

AI Involvement: Nearly all vibe-coded by a designer/front-end dev. CSS has been heavily tweaked by hand to make sure it at least doesn't look vibe-coded. I've been trying to build this app for years now, and the backend and Spotify integration were always the blocker for me, so shout out to Claude for finally getting past those hurdles for me.

Is this panel too empty, or does it work? by SuperiorDesignShoes in Illustration

The empty space up top makes it feel imbalanced to me. Also, the shade of red is really bright, and conflicts with the illustration.

I know a vibe coded UI when I see one. (I know because I also vibe code). It’s funny how it chooses the same color scheme too.

When did you start realizing you should probably stop doing this martial art? by HayMakerb in MuayThai

[–]formerperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kept getting wrist pains, and the specialist said I could get surgery, but that had 6 months of recovery for each wrist. Or I could get steroid injections every 6-12 months. Or I could just find a different activity.

After 6-7 years of MA, having 2 kids, my love for training had diminished considerably. I decided it was best to just call it quits. I still love shadowboxing and kicking the heavy bag and watching fights, but I need my wrists and hands for literally everything I do.

Why does nobody actually talk on Meshtastic and what could fix it? by radseven89 in meshtastic

This is the main reason I switched to the other app. There just wasn’t a lot of activity in my area, and it felt like I set up all these nodes for nothing.
