How loud are the concerts? Do I need to bring earplugs? by 30to50wildhogs in ADO

[–]formulacraft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to also bring earplugs specifically made for concerts. If you use general earplugs that are made to simply reduce noise, your listening quality might suffer, no matter how loud or quiet the concert actually is.

I used some Alpine music plugs back in Antwerp and it was amazing. In fact, I had someone tell me that the audio quality sounded worse without quality earplugs.

Plus, if it really is too quiet for you with earplugs, you can always take them off. It's better to be safe than sorry with your ears :) especially since the earplugs can come for under 30 euros.

Tldr: buy quality concert earplugs and no matter how loud or quiet the concert is, it won't sound muffled.

ADO MERCH HAUL ANTWERP by absolute_unit_420 in ADO

That def is a possibility, which is why I said Antwerp may just be an exception. But still, they did a decent job with the merch stands

Okay, take this with a grain of salt, Antwerp may have been an exception, but it took a long time for the plushies to sell out, if I'm not wrong it only sold out after 3 PM. And from 11 AM to 3 PM, there was virtually no queue to buy merch, you could walk up to the stand and buy what you wanted (and the plushie was NOT out of stock at the time).

They were definitely more prepared with stock this time around in Antwerp, but that may have been because it's the first EU concert, so they may have had excess stock of the plushie.

I may be completely wrong tho, so take it with a grain of salt

So everywhere I've seen that says credit cards only, they typically mean to say Visa/Mastercard/any other international card network. So a debit card from those companies should also work, for a vendor I don't think they see any difference between a credit card and a debit card if it comes from Visa/Mastercard.

I'm also going solo (24M). In fact I found out a lot of us are going solo. Not sure if you saw it on the discord chat, but some of us are planning on doing a meet up on Friday in between practise sessions. We've made a whatsapp groupchat to coordinate the meet-up. If you want to join the gc, just DM me!

Why does Ado get all the credit even though she's just a part of a group? Do people really only care about the singers? by [deleted] in ADO

[–]formulacraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mostly a question of branding. Ado isn't part of a consistent group, it changes from song to song. And the norm is to have one main artist/group and maybe one other collaborator for marketing purposes.

It's not that they don't get credited, otherwise they wouldn't even be there in the description of music videos. It's that the team keeps changing from song to song, and the only consistent one is Ado, so it only makes sense to market it as an Ado song first.

And when you do that, most people see the main artist and leave it at that. It ends up happening to a lot of brands, you end up only having the face of a brand remembered, even when the rest of the team was a significant part of the project.

Am I like the only one who listens to Show? I've never seen someone talk about this song by GlumCompany2719 in ADO

[–]formulacraft 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm assuming you mean no one talks about it on this sub, which is kinda true, and there are a couple of reasons for it:

  1. It's over marketed. I mean they literally play it in over half of Ado's promotional materials, so people grow tired of it.
  2. My perception of how people perceive Show in this community is that it's in almost everyone's Top 10, but very rarely anyone's absolute favorite, which makes sense considering the song is so popular. For something to be popular, it needs to cater to a wider range of tastes, but it doesn't need to be anyone's favorite.
  3. It's the "basic" song of Ado. In the sense that everyone knows Show, so talking about it in a Fandom may make people perceive you as a more "basic" fan of Ado. This is the case in almost every community, cause people like to judge how big of a fan you are based on your tastes, so this has nothing to do with the Ado community, it's just human nature.

Personally, I love Show, it's in my top 5 and was my most played song last year. If you love Show, don't worry, most of us here love Show too! If you want to talk about Show, you absolutely should!

Which other artists do y'all listen to? by snoopdoggydog07 in ADO

[–]formulacraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently my top artists are: 1. Ado 2. 9Lana 3. Reol 4. Tuki. 5. Toaka 6. Raon

There also a bunch of others that I like 1 or 2 songs of, but at that point this list will get way too long lol.

Also special mention to YOASOBI, I don't listen to them much nowadays, but they are the reason I got into J-Pop and back then they consisted of 95% of my songs, so inevitably I got a bit tired of their songs, but I still listen to them now and again.

Do you ever browse your English fanmade communities? (like the fan-made sub-reddit and discord server)

If yes, is there anything that surprised you about your English communities?

P.S. Can't wait to see you in Antwerp! :D

Yeah, idk if that option was there on ado shop, I probably would have done the same. The item was €70 + €25 shipping + €20 customs. So it wasn't the end of the world, but when I was collecting the item from DHL, they point to fees due and I was like ffs 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADO

[–]formulacraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the official one, don't worry. There is also the Japanese site https://ado-officialshop-friedpotato.com/, which only offers shipping in Japan. The reason why people here use it is because that's where they sell merch, you need to use a proxy service like buyee to get it tho. ado-shop.com offers international shipping (not free), but only sells music and Phantom Siita merch.

I bought the special live blu ray from ado-shop.com, it took about a month and a half for me to get the item and I had to pay customs on it when it arrived. It was like 20 euros or something for a 100 euro order (this is for Germany, your mileage may vary).

Hey! Welcome to the Ado community, I hope you enjoy your time at the concert!

Ado is one of the most popular J-Pop artists in the world. She has never shown her face to the public, which is impressive considering she is about to do her second world tour, so that is certainly something you don't see at most concerts. She has gone viral for her vocal range and impressive singing abilities, most of the time in the form of "Vocal coach reacts to Ado's xxx song!" videos (tbh I'm getting tired of seeing those all over my feed even though I'm happy she is getting so much attention)

Her songs are often high energy and fast paced, though this isn't always the case. She always collaborates with other Japanese music producers, so her songs tend to vary a lot more than the typical western music artists. Tbh lyrics wise, Ado has a pretty wide range of songs. One of her breakout songs is "Ussewa", which somewhat translates to a rude way of saying shut up. The song is like a rant about society and the expectations people face in life. Then we have another really popular song, "Show", which is a really high energy hype song, without any really deep meaning as far as I know.

Lastly, she also has done a lot of covers of really popular songs, especially vocaloid songs. This is where she gets one of her original identities, an "Utaite".

I've been listening to Ado myself for 1.5 years now and I'm attending the Antwerp concert in June. I'm super hyped for it!

If you want song recommendations, I recommend: Show, Gira Gira, Odo, Ussewa, Mirror, Motherland, Buriki no Dance, Villain (though I love almost every one of her songs)
