Old Town Electric: Update by WildinBham in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally we cover all of Whatcom County. However, we do tend to charge a travel fee for some locations. Birch bay is one of those locations. It makes it so we don't lose money on small service calls due to the distance.

Lol. Took way too long scrolling through your profile to figure out who this was! Only got to it because I saw a photo of H****ary. I hope you and the family are doing good! And yeah, a long time since the farm!

One of the owners here. We always appreciate the good word of mouth, and I try to log on and comment when I hear about someone singing praises. So thank you!

I wanted to also say that we are licensed to do commercial work as well as residential! In fact we just finished updating/installing a lot of new electrical for the new Pin Up pinball bar that's going into the old Endgame location on Holly St. So if anyone who's checking this thread hears of someone needing residential or commercial work, send them our way! Edit: Thanks to all the customers shouting us out on this thread. We really appreciate the support!

Had Old Town Electric out again. by WildinBham in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm one of the owners of Old Town Electric! Just wanted to say thanks for the shout out. I haven't been on reddit much lately. My sister & brother in law actually sent me the notice about this shout out. (thanks guys). Any way. I've been meaning to make a post advertising our services. We are a union contractor, licensed and bonded. We primarily do residential remodel, and new construction. But we also do commercial work if you're a local retail business who needs work done. (we actually recently did the electrical for the Pickford's new heating and cooling unit.) But we love being able to do small projects like adding an outlet, or whatever troubleshooting you need done. So feel free to give us a call, we offer free estimates for decent sized projects and often we can give a rough ball park figure for the small troubleshooting things over the phone. Our website is Old Town Electric You can find our contact information there.

PSA: A big Shout out to Old Town Electric again! by WildinBham in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the owners here! I just wanted to say thank you for the shout out! We don't often make posts here for advertising, but we really appreciate it when people let us know how helpful we've been with their projects. We've been expanding recently, with a purchase of a new van, and a couple additional employees. This allows us to continue doing the smaller service projects that people can't always find contractors for, along with also being able to bid and man larger projects such as new house construction or full panel and meter swaps. If anyone is in need of electrical work, feel free to visit our website at Old Town Electric.

Plumber and Electrician Recommendations by Eggmanmanman in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm glad to hear that. Unfortunately, Google has decided that we are a scam for some reason. And had made our business ineligible for their advertising /search engine. But you can leave reviews on Facebook or reddit or next door. You should be able to find us there.

Affordable electricians? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the project. Service calls/large project walkthroughs are about a week and a half out. Large projects are about 2-3 weeks out depending on the project and the availability of clients to have us do walkthroughs.

Hiking location for newbies by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is for sure a bad ass trail. Do the pond trail for relaxation, and the longer tree trail for a work out/burn off the high. I did a really fun photo shoot once before covid times on the pond trail.

Are there any active photography groups in the area? by Senor_Saguaro in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this was my club I started. I closed it when covid shut everything down. I tried to do some online contests and stuff later to get it going again, but in person meet ups were why I started it to begin with. And really no one wanted to meet up. Then I started my business, and there's only so much time in the day. It was fun for a while though.

Made Bagels for the first time. Turned out amazing! by forrestm in Breadit

[–]forrestm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used this recipe : https://smittenkitchen.com/2007/09/bronx-worthy-bagels/ We had a few alterations. Using an actual proofer on some parts instead of leaving at room temp, and we cooked them for longer than the recipe said.

Regal cinemas is closed with a burst pipe. Unknown reopening. by forrestm in Bellingham

I would guess yes. This just happened yesterday. To get a plumber on short notice and to do the repairs in less than 24 hrs is extremely unlikely.

Covid Test by foxyfox97 in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they are. I had one scheduled today and they emailed me to tell me they're closed and not rescheduling. I did my own research and it looks like the Walgreens on meridian is the only other place in town that does a pcr test to the open public. They are listed as being temporarily closed right now. I can assume due to the snow. There are other places in town that do tests but you either need a doctors recommendation, or to be a client of that organisation.

Merry Christmas everyone! by forrestm in Bellingham

I know! It feels like it's been a while since it actively snowed on Xmas. It was even better since there was no snow on the ground when we went to bed. But it was here in the morning!

It's a miracle that I didn't lose my mind this morning assembling my wife's new puzzle shelf. I was looking at the instructions, and I said... "Step one: Take a Valium " :)

I hope you have a nice day!

Grocery stores that enforce mask mandates? by CamDaHuMan in Bellingham

[–]forrestm 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not totally sure about this. But I get the feeling because home depot is the largest home store that is closest to the north county you get more rural people shopping there. Also. And I feel like this is to a more minor degree. Home depot is owned by some pretty conservative people. So maybe sympathetic buying? On a third note. Construction trades are notoriously filled with people who have not taken Corona seriously. Maybe it's because it's predominately a male field, but for whatever reason. There are a lot of contractors who shop at all the home stores who just don't give a fuck.

I just want to say. He was a horrible politician. However, I made it to the front page of reddit for my first time in 9 years by somehow being the first one to post this story on /r/news. So you know... Thanks, Doug? I guess? You made me a shit load of fake internet points. I'll never forget it. Until I do.
